A partir de abril del 2019, la lucha de los pueblos otomíes del Estado de México se intensificó en su oposición al megaproyecto carretero denominado Autopista Toluca-Naucalpan y al llamado Proyecto Alternativo. En esta nueva etapa de resistencia de los pueblos Hñathö de San Francisco Xochicuautla, Santa Cruz Ayotuxco, San Lorenzo Huitzizilapan y La Concepción Xochicuautla; se conformó una organización llamada: Comunidades Hñathö en Defensa del Bosque Sagrado del Agua.

Otro de los pasos más importantes que han dado es haber logrado sobreponerse a la más reciente campaña que intento aplastar su moral y su espíritu de lucha; logrando desmentir públicamente a las empresas constructoras, que en marzo de este año intentaron difundir la versión de que «jurídicamente no había nada que hacer».

En estos meses el movimiento ha logrado volver a estar a la ofensiva jurídica y socialmente, ya que a partir del 29 de mayo del 2019, venció el decreto expropiatorio en la comunidad de San Lorenzo Huitzizilapan. Desde ese momento las comunidades hñathñö decidieron anunciar un nuevo frente común a través de la campaña #ElBosquedevuelta, la cual incluso logro interpelar al Poder Ejecutivo en su mañanera.

Compartimos esta serie de crónicas, como muestra de respeto a su resistencia y rebeldía, para no sucumbir frete al despojo que se impone a través de una larga estrategia.

Images from the Breaking of the Siege II (and last)

Note from SupGaleano: Here there should be a photo slide show from the new CRAREZ [Centers of Autonomous Zapatista Resistance and Rebellion] which were announced as part of the breaking of the siege on August 17, 2019. This video will likely be removed by Mr. YouTube since it is set to a song by Ana Tijoux (Chilean-French) and Shadia Mansour (Palestinian) entitled “Somos Sur,” [We are the South] and supposedly we either have to pay royalties or accept advertising. We are not of course going to accept advertising, and if there’s no money for water tanks for the new caracol Tulan Kaw, then there’s certainly no money to pay royalties. In any case, the Sixth Commission does not “monetize” our videos (plus, the traffic on our channel is like the traffic during semana santa (Easter) in Mexico City), so I doubt Mr. YouTube is going to end up any less rich because of our refusal to accept advertisement, nor are Ana Tijoux and Shadia Mansour going to lose artistic quality or followers because we have accompanied their rebellion with ours.

Maybe instead of taking down the videos that people set to music—as Zapata didn’t say, “music belongs to those who sing/dance/hum/bounce/whisper/shout and spread it (and like Shadia Mansour says, rapping in Arabic: “music is the mother tongue of the world”)—Mr. YouTube should work on his damned algorithm (“Oh, the twisted lines of YouTube”i). You know how it goes, you start out looking for videos of the guys from Botellita de Jerez to pay homage to the memory of Armando Vega Gil, or you search for ska from Los de Abajo, or Salón Victoria, or some tracks from Jijos del Mais, or Van T, or Mexican Sound, or LenguaAlerta, or Lirica, or Ely Guerra, or Keny Arkana, or the Batallones Femeninos, or from those masters Oscar Chávez and Guillermo Velázquez and Los Leones de la Sierra de Xichú, and all of a sudden you’re getting bombarded with videos of rodeos, cockfights, Maluma giving classes on how to respect women, or makeup videos (“now we’re going to learn how to do makeup for a ‘no makeup’ selfie”).

It’s not that we’re being fussy—after all, like Inodoro Pereyra said (or was it Mendieta?), “Broad and Alien is the World”ii—but rather that here, bandwidth is about as broad as Trump’s IQ: paltry, in other words.

Given all of the above, if YouTube removes the video because of its soundtrack (like it already did with Princess Mononoke, apparently because Studio Ghibli decided to side with the system instead of with natureiii), we’ll repost the same photo slideshow here but without music, and you can add the music yourselves. In fact, I’ll include the translation from Arabic to Spanish of Shadia Mansour’s rap (based on the contribution from the user qmqz posted on the official music video) [TN: translated here in English]:

And if Mr. YouTube takes the whole thing down as part of the “fuck the Zapatistas now” campaign, oh well, we’ll just go back to the good old days of the Zapatista Intergalactic Television System, “the only television channel that you read” (Permit 69, currently being processed by the Good Government Councils, submitted as of 1996 but caracoles move slooooooooowly….).

A 6 MESES DEL ASESINATO DE SAMIR, ABAJO LO RECONOCEN, ARRIBA LO DESPRECIAN

La muerte de Samir hace seis meses continua doliendo e indignándonos. No podremos acostumbrarnos a su ausencia porque día a día su presencia se hace mas presente en nuestros corazones y caminar. La semilla que nos dejó es la semilla de la dignidad, que florece en multiples colores de las y los compañeros que lo reivindicamos y continuamos su lucha.

En estos seis meses hemos sentido y visto el gran apoyo que compas del país y de otros países se han solidarizado con nosotrxs, han asumido que nuestro dolor e indignación tambien es suyo. Y es entonces compas que nos da mucho gusto verles, escucharles y sentirles porque en todos ustedes vemos un cachito de nuestro hermano Samir, porque la espora de la dignidad rebelde que Samir esparcia continua haciendolo a pesar de su asesinato, porque no nos sentimos solos y al contrario nos da fortaleza para continuar.

Queremos agradecer al EZLN, al CNI-CIG, a las redes de apoyo, pueblos, colectivos y organizaciones sociales y de derechos humanos el abrazar nuestro dolor, nuestra rabia, el reconocer y reivindicar a nuestro compañero y llevar su palabra y enseñanza. Nos alegra que la dignidad y la rebeldía de Samir se haya esparcido tan lejos y en los 4 puntos cardinales.

Hermanas y hermanos zapatistas nos sentimos muy contentxs y alegres que la resistencia y autonomia siga creciendo en tierras zapatistas y queremos decirles que son un horizonte para nuestro pueblo. Queremos agradecerles especialmente el reconocimiento que le dan a nuestro hermano Samir en este proceso tan importante de avance del territorio rebelde y que han nombrado en su honor, a este trabajo de 15 años como campaña “SAMIR FLORES VIVE”.

Pero nuestra alegría se vuelve a llenar de indignación cuando escuchamos las declaraciones del Presidente de la República decir que la muerte de nuestro hermano “no tiene nada que ver con el gobierno” ¿Y los oidos sordos de Obrador ante la alerta que le hicimos semanas antes, de la difícil situación en que se encontraba el conflicto generado por el PIM, que tuviera cuidado de no generar más violencia? Ignorandonos y por el contrario, atizando el fuego con sus insultos en Cuautla al anunciar la consulta, en medio de un clamor popular que le decía “así no”
¿Cómo se atreve hoy López Obrador a decirle “compañero” a Samir, cuando ayer lo llamo “radical de izquierda ultra conservador”, cuando sigue despreciando y desdeñando su muerte? Al no mover un dedo como máximo mandatario para esclarecer su asesinato, dejando en manos de una Fiscalia Estatal que no resuelve el 99% de los homicidios en Morelos y que se atrevió a decir que no tenía el presupuesto para investigar tantas muertes en Morelos y que sólo se iba avocar a investigar la muerte de Samir y otros 2 casos más, pero ni eso hace!

Queremos saber Sr. Presidente a qué se refiere cuando dice que nos hagamos responsables de si se convierte en chatarra vieja el Proyecto Integral Morelos ¿Es una especie de amenaza de lo que nos espera si seguimos el camino de la dignidad y de exigir justicia para nuestros pueblos? Nosotros no queremos amenazas, queremos diálogo, seguimos esperando la respuesta a la invitación que le hicimos de llegar a Huexca.

Le recordamos que usted llegó al poder porque el pueblo de México está harto de la injusticia, del trato preferencial a los ricos a costa de los pobres. Por eso llegó al poder, por prometer traernos justicia a los pueblos, como cuando dijo en 2014, “No queremos ese Gasoducto, no queremos esa termoelectrica, ni tampoco las minas”. Si usted nos dice que asumamos la responsabilidad de que el PIM se convierta en chatarra, nosotros le decimos: Asuma su responsabilidad de las promesas que hizo con el pueblo ¿O que? ¿Usted es de los que dice prometer no empobrece?

Asuma su responsabilidad como máximo mandatario y ordene la atracción del caso de Samir por parte de la FGR y la creación de una Comisión de la Verdad sobre los Impacto Sociales del PIM; asuma su responsabilidad y castigue a las empresas que nos acusaron injustamente, nos encarcelaron, torturaron y fragmentaron a los pueblos; asuma su responsabilidad y cancele el contrato con las empresas españolas Elecnor y Enagas que construyeron un gasoducto en zona de riesgo volcánico sin mayor prevención, ni obedecer a las recomendaciones en materia de seguridad; asuma su responsabilidad y cancele la termoeléctrica porque se instaló sin previamente acordar la disposición del agua para su funcionamiento, ni tomarle su parecer a la comunidad de Huexca; asuma su responsabilidad y castigue a los gobiernos que ordenaron gastar millones de dólares para imponer este proyecto con el uso de la policía y el ejército; asuma su responsabilidad y de un castigo ejemplar a quienes violan los derechos de los pueblos indígenas; asuma su responsabilidad y respete el agua de los ejidos de Ayala, cuna de nuestro general Emiliano Zapata y respete lo que la ley dice, primero el agua para el campo y si sobra, para la generación eléctrica. Asuma su responsabilidad y ya no diga mas mentiras, ya no falte a su palabra.

Porque hay quien reconoce desde abajo el trabajo de nuestro hermano Samir y decide nombrar a un proceso organizativo de 15 años “Samir Flores Vive” y hay quien desde arriba primero le llama con voz bélica y amenazante radical de izquierda ultraconservador y después de su muerte se burla de nosotros y de la familia de Samir diciendo “ojalá y un día se esclarezca su muerte” sin mover un dedo del supuesto poder divino que tiene para declarar justicia en nuestro país y todavía se atrave a decir que quien lo señala como responsable de su muerte es gente conservadora. ¿No tiene el señor Obrador un gramo de autocritica en su ser? Por eso nosotros no podemos creerle más, porque primero dice una cosa y luego todo lo contrario, porque dice que en su gobierno no habrá más represión, pero acusa la CFE a nuestros compañeros de daño moral a la termo sin prueba alguna para ello.

Por eso nosotros sabemos también que la libertad y la justicia sólo será obra de nosotros mismos y no de su gobierno. Por eso seguiremos luchando por el respeto a nuestra madre tierra, al agua, a la libertad y la autodeterminación. Avanzando en la resistencia y rebeldía para romper el cerco del capital que pretende ahogarnos y acabar con los pueblos originarios de México y el mundo para concluir sus megaproyectos y obtener el dinero que dio muerte al Rey Midas.

Seis meses sin justicia para Samir desde arriba, seis meses en que la llama de Samir se convirtió en volcán activo abajo y a la izquierda.

Frente de Pueblos en Defensa de la Tierra y el Agua Morelos, Puebla, Tlaxcala

El 23 de agosto de 2019, se realizará la Audiencia Inicial de Formulación de Imputación y Vinculación a proceso en contra de los policías Orday Rodríguez Vilchis y Edgar Zavala Gutierrez y los que resulten responsables, por el delito de Tortura, cometido en agravio del Sr. Francisco de Jesús Espinosa Hidalgo. (Francisco) El acto tendrá lugar en la sala B del Juzgado de Control y Tribunal de Enjuiciamiento Región Uno, para la atención de delitos no graves, con sede en Chiapa de Corzo, Chiapas, México.

Los policías perpetradores de la Tortura a Francisco, que exhortamos sean vinculados a proceso, se encuentran adscritos a la Comandancia Regional Zona Centro, de la Dirección General de la Policía Especializada, dependiente de la entonces Procuraduría General de Justicia de Chiapas. Sus nombres constan en el expediente penal 50/2015 como los agentes aprehensores que presentaron a Francisco ante el Ministerio Público, de la Fiscalía de Distrito Centro, en Chiapas de Corzo. La mañana del 29 de mayo de 2015, Francisco salió de su casa en el barrio La Alberca, municipio de Venustiano Carranza, a trabajar su milpa. A unos metros de su vivienda, personas vestidas de civil que él identificó como policías, lo privaron de su libertad y desaparecieron. De acuerdo a su testimonio, durante la detención y traslado fue torturado física y psicológicamente: «Pensé que me iban a matar porque me golpeaban mucho en la cabeza». Posteriormente lo llevaron a la Fiscalía en Chiapa de Corzo donde se intensificó la Tortura: golpes en diversas partes del cuerpo, especialmente en la cabeza, el cuello y las costillas, además de recibir descargas eléctricas. En este lugar el Ministerio Público ignoró las señales de Tortura.

Francisco permaneció durante tres años, cuatro meses, en el Centro Estatal para la Reinserción Social para Sentenciados Núm. 14 «El Amate», en Cintalapa de Figueroa. Según el auto de formal prisión del Juez Primero del Ramo Penal de Delitos Graves del Distrito Judicial de Tuxtla Gutierrez, con sede en Cintalapa de Figueroa, Chiapas, fue acusado de robo con violencia agravada y daños, por Domingo Sebastián de la Torre Gómez, ex comisariado ejidal, por hechos ocurridos el 21 de abril de 2015. Las secuelas de la Tortura se intensificaron por las condiciones carcelarias, que a su vez agravaron el estado de salud de Francisco. Peritos independientes que aplicaron el Protocolo de Estambul, el 13 de noviembre de 2015, corroboraron los daños físicos y psicológicos, los cuales persisten a la fecha y le obstaculizan trabajar la tierra y desarrollar su ser como campesino. Entre las consecuencias de la Tortura se encuentran también los impactos al proyecto de vida familiar y las rupturas comunitarias en Francisco como integrante del Pueblo Maya Tsotsil. Además, él refiere que su encierro le afectó espiritualmente en la relación con su territorio.

El 21 de septiembre de 2018, Francisco de Jesús Espinosa Hidalgo logró su libertad por reconocimiento de inocencia, con el apoyo de una amplia red nacional e internacional de organizaciones defensoras de derechos humanos. Más de 5 mil cartas que se enviaron desde Francia, presionaron a la Fiscalía Contra la Tortura para avanzar la investigación que hoy posibilita el vincular a proceso a policías perpetradores. (2)

Compañeras, Compañeros, Compañeroas:

We bring you our word. The same word as yesterday, today, and tomorrow. It is the word of resistance and rebellion.

In October of 2016, almost three years ago, during the 20^th anniversary of the National Indigenous Congress [CNI], the sister organizations of the National Indigenous Congress and the EZLN made a commitment to go on the offensive in our defense of our Territory and Mother Earth. Persecuted by the bad government, by caciques, by foreign corporations, by criminals, and by the law, and as we accumulated insults, derision, and dead, we the originary peoples (the guardians of the earth), decided to go on the offensive and circulate the words and actions of resistance and rebellion.

With the founding of the Indigenous Governing Council [CIG] and the selection of its spokesperson, Marichuy, the National Indigenous Congress gave itself the job of taking words of warning and organization to the brothers and sisters of the city and countryside. Meanwhile, the EZLN also went on the offensive in its struggle with its words, ideas, and organization.

The time has come to hold ourselves accountable to the CNI-CIG and its spokesperson so that their peoples can decide if we have lived up to what we promised. But it is not only the CNI-CIG that we are accountable to; we also have a pending debt with the organizations, groups, collectives, and individuals (especially those in the Sixth and the Networks [of Rebellion and Resistance], but not only them) that throughout Mexico and the world concern themselves with our Zapatista peoples. These are people who, whatever their calendars, geographies, and habits may be, disregard the walls, borders, and sieges that are erected to divide us so that their hearts can continue to beat close to our own.

I. The Eighth Passenger

Nowhere, or everywhere. A drowsy train drifts off to its own purr. It isn’t coming from or going to anywhere in particular. Or at least not anywhere that matters. A dismal population whose haggard lives seem to hang by a thread nod off on board. In the last car, seven bored, grubbily dressed and solitary passengers, their lives as wretched as their clothes, shift irritably in their seats and lament their situation.

“I’d do anything to turn my luck around,” one says. They were speaking a universal language and the other six passengers nod in silence. Just then the long and battered train enters a tunnel, intensifying the shadows and hiding the passengers’ faces. The door opens and an eighth passenger walks in. The passenger’s clothes practically scream, “I’m not from around here,” but they sit down without a word. The tunnel stretches out the darkness.

A thunderous crack interrupts the silence, like a dry branch breaking but without a storm to blame. A pair of blazing eyes appear in the darkness: “I don’t think I need to introduce myself,” the fiery gaze hisses, “You have all conjured me in one way or another and I’m responding to your call. Make a wish: you pay with your soul. Name your price.”

The first passenger chooses health, to never get sick again. “Done,” Satan responds, picking up the healthy soul and throwing it in his bag.

Another passenger chooses wisdom, to know everything. “Done,” the devil murmurs, picking up the wise person’s soul and tossing it in his bag.

The third passenger opts for beauty, to be admired. “Done,” says the king of hell, tossing the beautiful one’s soul in his bag.

The fourth asks for Power, to rule and be obeyed. “Done,” Lucifer says under his breath, the soul of the new ruler added to his bag.

The fifth wants “pleasure,” to awaken passion at will. “Done,” the demon replies with a contented smile. The hedonist’s soul disappears into the devil’s bag.

The sixth passenger sits up straight and pronounces the desire for fame, to be widely recognized and praised. “Done,” Satan declares without a pause, and the famous soul takes its place among the other prisoners.

The seventh passenger practically sings their request for “love.” “Dooooooone,” the evil one replies with a guffaw, and the lover’s soul goes into the depths of the bag.

The fallen angel looks impatiently at the eighth passenger who hasn’t said anything and is merely scribbling in a notebook.

Nobody knows for sure how it all started. Not even the Tercios Compas [Zapatista media], who took up the task of reconstructing the sequence of events, could pinpoint the exact moment and event in which the story I’m about to tell you began.

According to one version, SubGaleano is responsible for everything. Others say SubGaleano only started it and it was Subcomandante Insurgente Moisés who took it to completion.

See, what happened was that in one of his texts, SubGaleano mentioned a February 2011 program in which the journalist Carmen Aristegui asked if then-president Felipe Calderón Hinojosa was an alcoholic, and added that the nation should be informed about the health of the president. She was fired in retaliation. Up to that point in the story there is no disagreement—and you can confirm that’s what happened by referring to news articles from that time.

The problem really begins when SubGaleano added something like, “Madness, as pointed out by a misunderstood sage of the human soul, is like gravity: all it takes is a little push. To hold Power unlawfully is just that irresistible push that all those above long for, and it begins with three simple words, “I rule here.” If you think anyone in the media is going to question whether the current president is lacking in any of his mental faculties (let’s be clear, he didn’t say “crazy”), don’t hold your breath, because nobody will dare to do so.”
