Compañeras y compañeros:
Padres y madres de familia de los jóvenes estudiantes desaparecidos de la Escuela Normal Rural Raúl Isidro Burgos de Ayotzinapa, estado de Guerrero, México.
A los estudiantes y todos los que acompañan esta caravana y todos los que nos encontramos aquí.
En nombre de los niños, niñas, jóvenes, jóvenas, hombres, mujeres, ancianos y ancianas del Ejército Zapatista de Liberación Nacional, les damos la bienvenida en este caracol de Oventik, Caracol II Resistencia y Rebeldía por la Humanidad.
Compañeras y compañeros:
Nosotros el Ejército Zapatista de Liberación Nacional queremos escuchar sus palabras de dolor y sus rabias que también es nuestra.
Nosotros no queremos saber si están quemando presidencias municipales ni cuántos carros quemados, ni puertas, ni palacios.
Nosotros queremos escuchar su dolor, sus rabias y sus angustias de saber en dónde están sus jóvenes estudiantes.
También queremos decirles que nosotros y nosotras los zapatistas, los hemos acompañado en las protestas y movilizaciones que se han realizado en México y en el mundo, aunque en los medios de paga no aparezcamos con nuestros actos de dolor y de rabia, pero sí queremos decirles que los hemos acompañado con hechos reales y verdaderos.
Por eso nosotros queremos que nos hablen y nosotros les queremos escuchar.
Si nos hubieran avisado unos días antes, los que los estuviéramos recibiendo y escuchando sería mucho más grande que los que hoy los estamos recibiendo, como no se imaginan.
Esta representación que hoy nos encontramos aquí, los estamos recibiendo con todo el corazón para escucharles su dolor y su rabia.

In the name of the boys, girls, young people, men, women, and elderly of the Zapatista Army for National Liberation, we welcome you to this Caracol of Oventik, Caracol II, Resistance and Rebellion for Humanity.
Compañeras and Compañeros:
We the Zapatista Army for National Liberation want to hear your words of pain and rage, which we share.
We are not concerned with whether municipal presidencies are burning, nor with how many cars, doors, or palaces have been burnt.
What we want to hear is your pain, your rage, and the angst that comes from not knowing where your young students might be.
We also want to tell you that we Zapatisas have been accompanying you in the protests and mobilizations that have been held in Mexico and in the world. Though our acts of pain and rage do not appear in the paid media, we want you know that we have joined you with real and true actions.
This is why we want you to speak to us, and why we want to listen to you.
If we had known a few days earlier that you were coming, there would have been many of us here to greet and listen to you, many more than are here now. You can’t imagine the number of people who would have come.
Those of us who serve as representatives here today receive you with all of our hearts to listen to your pain and your rage.

[1] The Escuelas Normales in Mexico are teaching colleges that principally train rural and indigenous young people to be teachers in their own communities.
