El 20 de junio de 1996, Minerva Guadalupe Pérez Torres, indígena chól y quien entonces tenía 19 años, desapareció en la comunidad Miguel Alemán, del municipio de Tila, Chiapas, cuando el transporte público en el que viajaba fue interceptado por Sabelino Torres, dirigente del grupo paramilitar “Paz y Justicia” quien ordenara la retención de Minerva, y desde entonces se desconoce su paradero.

Reality is a caracol (snail.) And caracoles, as everyone knows, are spirals. Like life, like death, like reality.

In the Caracol of La Realidad, in the early morning of May 25, 2014, Subcomandante Marcos, spokesperson and military leader of the Zapatista National Liberation Army for 20 years, revealed his own unreality and announced that, from then on, he would cease to exist.

El Centro de Derechos Humanos Fray Bartolomé de Las Casas, acusa acciones de vigilancia y hostigamiento a sus integrantes, así como a otras organizaciones de la sociedad civil, por agentes de inteligencia del estado mexicano, durante los meses de abril y mayo, en San Cristóbal de Las Casas, Chiapas.

El Frayba, interpuso denuncia ante la Fiscalía Especializada de Protección y Atención a los Organismos No Gubernamentales para la Defensa de los Derechos Humanos por actos de seguimiento y vigilancia.

Estos hechos han sido notificados a la Comisión Interamericana de Derechos Humanos, a través de las medidas cautelares que este Centro tiene ante el organismo internacional. El Frayba exige al gobierno mexicano cumpla con su obligación de tomar las medidas necesarias para que quienes defienden derechos humanos ejerzan su labor sin ningún tipo de amenaza ni violencia en contra.
