Ayotzinapa, Guerrero, 13 de enero de 2015.- Omar García, integrante del Comité estudiantil de la normal de Ayotzinapa, permanece hospitalizado con riesgo de perder la vista del ojo izquierdo debido a la agresión perpetrada por la policía militar durante el desalojo del que fueron objeto estudiantes, así como madres y padres de familia de los 43 Normalistas desaparecidos mientras realizaban un mitin en el 27 Batallón de Infantería del Ejército mexicano con sede en Iguala.

Ayotzinapa, Guerrero, 13 January 2015.- Omar García, member of the student committee of the Ayotzinapa teachers’ school remains hospitalized with the risk of losing his sight on the left eye due to the aggression committed by the military police during the eviction suffered by the students and the relatives of the 43 missing students while they held a demonstration at the 27th Infantry Battalion of the Mexican Army in the city of Iguala.

Omar fue ingresado a las 00:30 hrs del día de hoy al Hospital ISSSTE de Chilpancingo, por una severa lesión en el pómulo izquierdo provocada por una piedra lanzada por la policía militar. Tuvo que ser suturado, sin anestesia -por elección propia-, y permanece en observación en espera de ser valorado por un doctor especialista quien determinará si el estudiante requiere o no de una intervención quirúrgica.

“La consigna era entrar unos metros al Batallón militar y hacer el mitin ahí, los padres iban hasta adelante, buscamos limitar las acciones para evitar un roce serio, que ellos llegaran hasta donde tenían que llegar y nosotros también, decirles ‘venimos en son de paz, solo vamos a ser un mitin aquí, queremos hablar con su responsable’, no se pudo, empezaron a replegarnos y ahí se dio el enfrentamiento”, narró Omar sentado en una cama del hospital envuelto en una bata verde.

“Nosotros queremos que se abran líneas de investigación contra el Ejército y contra quien haya que hacerlo, no quitamos nuestro papel de víctimas por lo que pasó el 26 de septiembre, lo que pasó ahí ha pasado miles de veces y no queremos que vuelva a pasar”, concluyó el estudiante.

Después de que el estudiante Omar ingresó al hospital, durante la tarde noche se registró presencia de las policía ministerial y de la policía estatal, quienes permanecieron estacionados en camionetas afuera del hospital, razón por la cual hay una guardia permanente de estudiantes de la normal ante el riesgo de que Omar pueda ser detenido por las corporaciones policiacas.

Omar was admitted today to the ISSSTE Hospital in Chilpancingo with a severe injury to the left cheekbone caused by a rock thrown by the military police. He was stitched without anesthesia (by his own decision) and remains in observation while he awaits examination by a specialist, who will determine whether or not he requires a surgical proceedure.

“The idea was to enter a few meters into the military headquarters and hold a demonstration there; the relatives were up front, we tried to limit the actions in order to avoid a serious confrontation, making sure we all arrived arrived where we had to arrive, telling them ‘we come in peace, we’re only going to hold a demonstration here, we want to speak with the person responsible’. But it was useless, they started to push us back and the confrontation broke out,” explained Omar, sitting on a hospital bed wrapped in a green gown.

“We want investigations to begin against the Army and against anyone that’s required. We will continue stating that we are the victims of what happened on September 26; what happened there has happened thousands of times and we don’t want it to happen again,” concluded the student.

After the student Omar was admitted to the hospital, ministerial and state police arrived and remained stationed in trucks outside the hospital. As a result, there is a permanent guard by the students, because of the fear that Omar could be detained by the police.
