COMUNICADO CONJUNTO DEL CNI Y EL EZLN EN SOLIDARIDAD CON LA COMUNIDAD INDÍGENA DE SANTA MARÍA OSTULA, MICHOACÁN.

Los pueblos, naciones y tribus que somos el Congreso Nacional Indígena y el Ejército Zapatista de Liberación Nacional, manifestamos nuestro profundo repudio a las acciones que los malos gobiernos y las bandas criminales realizan al unísono en contra de la comunidad indígena nahua de Santa María Ostula, municipio de Aquila, Michoacán, para tratar de acabar con su digna e histórica lucha.

Los gobiernos no sólo fueron cómplices del atentado en contra de Cemeí Verdía el 25 de mayo de 2015, sino que liberó a los culpables Juan Hernández Ramírez (entonces presidente municipal de Aquila) y José Antioco Calvillo.  Encarceló a Cemeí Verdía con cargos inventados y asesinó al niño Hidelberto Reyes García.

Los malos gobiernos ahora pretenden detener al comandante Germán Ramírez, fabricándole delitos y culpas a quienes luchan y defienden la tierra y a sus familias.  Mientras, al mismo tiempo, se reagrupan los miembros del cartel de los Caballeros Templarios que ya se encuentran reorganizados y fuertemente armados al oriente del municipio de Aquila.

El delito de los comuneros, policías comunitarios de Ostula y autodefensas de la sierra costa de Michoacán, ha sido no aceptar la muerte y el terror que los malos gobiernos y la delincuencia organizada en la región ofrecen como única opción.  En cambio, con su resistencia y rebeldía Ostula no sólo nos ha enseñado la dignidad de un pueblo organizado, sino que ha demostrado al mundo que es posible construir la paz y la justicia en medio de la destrucción en la que los capitalistas han sumergido a este país.

Denunciamos este nuevo ataque a la comunidad indígena de Ostula y responsabilizamos de esta agresión a los malos gobiernos, a Enrique Peña Nieto y a Silvano Aureoles, cómplices de los líderes templarios El Tena, El Tuco, Chuy Playas y Federico González (Lico) a quien la comunidad ha señalado en numerosas ocasiones como el responsable del asesinato de 34 comuneros y la desaparición de 6.  Los responsabilizamos por la sangre que quieren ver correr para proteger sus negocios capitalistas, de proteger en lugar de buscar y detener a los líderes templarios, de garantizar la impunidad a los militares asesinos del niño Hidelberto, de buscar a toda costa despojar las tierras comunales y recursos naturales, de buscar asesinar esa esperanza para este país que se llama Santa María Ostula.

Expresamos nuestra respeto y solidaridad con las movilizaciones de la comunidad a quien decimos que en el corazón colectivo del Congreso Nacional Indígena brilla una intensa luz alimentada por la dignidad de Ostula y llamamos a los pueblos originarios y sociedad civil de México y mundo, a la sexta nacional e internacional, y a los medios de comunicación honestos a estar atentos y solidarios.

Joint Communique from the CNI and the EZLN in Solidarity with the Indigenous Community of Santa María Ostula, Michoacán

To the peoples of the world:
To national and international civil society:
To the independent media:

The peoples, nations, and tribes who make up the National Indigenous Congress and the Zapatista Army for National Liberation manifest our profound condemnation of the actions carried out in unison by the bad governments and criminal groups against the Nahua indigenous community of Santa María Ostula, municipality of Aquila, Michoacán, in an attempt to crush their dignified and historic struggle.

These governments were not only complicit in the attack against Cemeí Verdía on May 25, 2015, but in fact freed those directly responsible, Juan Hernández Ramírez (then municipal president of Aquila) and José Antioco Calvillo. They [the government] imprisoned Cemeí Verdía on false charges and murdered the young boy Hidelberto Reyes García.

The bad governments now intend to arrest commander Germán Ramírez, fabricating criminal charges against those who struggle to defend the land and their families. At the same time, we see the regrouping of members of the Knights Templar cartel who are already reorganized and heavily armed in the eastern part of the municipality of Aquila.

The crime of the community members, the community police of Ostula, and the self-defense forces of the Sierra Costa of Michoacán was to refuse to accept the death and terror that the bad governments and organized crime in the region offered as the only option. In contrast, Ostula’s resistance and rebellion has not only shown us the dignity of an organized people, but demonstrated to the world that it is possible to build peace and justice in the midst of the destruction wrought by capitalists on this country.

We denounce this new attack on the indigenous community of Ostula and hold responsible the bad governments, Enrique Peña Nieto, and Silvano Aureoles, accomplices of the Knights Templar leaders El Tena, El Tuco, Chuy Playas, and Federico González (Lico), who have been identified by the community on numerous occasions as those culpable of the murder of 34 community members and the disappearance of 6 more. We hold them responsible for the blood they want to see spilled in order to protect their capitalist businesses, for protecting instead of pursuing and arresting the Knights Templar leaders, for guaranteeing impunity to the soldiers who murdered the child Hidelberto, for seeking the dispossession of communal lands and natural resources at all costs, and for attempting to kill off the hope of this country that goes by the name Santa María Ostula.

We express our respect for and solidarity with that community’s mobilizations and want them to know that at the collective heart of the National Indigenous Congress shines an intense light fueled by Ostula’s dignity. We call on the originary peoples and civil society of Mexico and the world, on the national and international Sixth, and on the honest media to be attentive and in solidarity.
