Desplazamiento de Bases Zapatistas ante riesgo de ataque

• 32 personas de la Comunidad Autónoma Egipto, pertenecientes al Caracol de La Garrucha, se desplazan forzadamente

• Habitantes del Ejido Pojcol invaden tierras recuperadas de Bases de Apoyo del Ejército Zapatista de Liberación Nacional (BAEZLN)

El Centro de Derechos Humanos Fray Bartolomé de Las Casas (Frayba) documentó el desplazamiento forzado de 32 personas de la Comunidad Egipto, del Municipio Autónomo Rebelde Zapatista (MAREZ) San Manuel, perteneciente a la Junta de Buen Gobierno (JBG) “El Camino del Futuro”, del Caracol III, de La Garrucha, Zona Selva Tseltal, en Chiapas, (Municipio oficial de Ocosingo).

Displacement of Zapatista Bases before the risk of attack

Thirty two people from the Egipto (Egypt) autonomous community, belonging to the Caracol of La Garrucha, were forcibly displaced.

The Fray Bartolomé de Las Casas Human Rights Center (Frayba) documented the forced displacement of 32 people from Egipto Community, of the Rebel Autonomous Municipality Zapatista (MAREZ) of San Manuel, belonging to the Good Government Junta “Path of the Future,” Caracol III, La Garrucha, Tseltal Jungle Zone, in Chiapas, (official municipality of Ocosingo).

Los hechos ocurrieron el 01 de agosto, a las 23:30 horas, cuando un grupo de personas armadas, provenientes del Ejido Pojcol, municipio de Chilón, entraron a la tierra de trabajo colectivo regional del Municipio Autónomo San Manuel, recuperadas por el Ejercito Zapatista de Liberación Nacional (EZLN). En este territorio, colindante con las Comunidades Autónomas El Rosario y Egipto, las personas armadas mataron un torete y realizaron disparos de arma.

Cuando el grupo del Ejido Pojcol realizaba actos de ocupación y hostigamiento armado, integrantes de la Comunidad Autónoma Egipto se percataron que, varias personas con lámparas en mano, se dirigían hacia su poblado. Por esta razón y para evitar un posible ataque, el 02 de agosto, a las 0:30 horas, 32 personas (mujeres, niñas, niños y ancianas, ancianos) se desplazaron forzadamente, caminando durante toda la madrugada, hasta llegar a otro pueblo zapatista en donde actualmente les albergan.

Estos nuevos hechos de hostigamiento, despojo territorial y agresiones se dan en el marco de la Primera Compartición de los Pueblos Zapatistas y los Pueblos Originarios de México “Compañero David Ruiz García”, reunión del Congreso Nacional Indígena, que inició este lunes 04 de agosto en la Comunidad Autónoma La Realidad.

Ante el riesgo inminente y la gravedad de los hechos que suceden en el MAREZ de San Manuel, perteneciente a la JBG “El Camino del Futuro”, del Caracol III de La Garrucha, solicitamos a la Sociedad Civil Nacional e Internacional mantenerse alertas para que no sigan escalando hechos de violencia en contra de las BAEZLN.

Antecedentes:

El viernes 25 de julio, a las 6:00 horas, entraron por primera vez, 19 personas armadas a la tierra de trabajo colectivo regional del Municipio Autónomo San Manuel; construyeron techos, destruyeron, quemaron y usaron como leña letreros que BAEZLN habían instalado en protesta, ante el asesinato del Maestro Galeano. Asimismo los agresores hicieron 3 disparos al aire, de armas calibre .22 durante la mañana y en la tarde; a la 1:30 horas, del 26 de julio, salieron de la comunidad. Durante el tiempo que estuvieron ahí, amenazaron a BAEZLN de las Comunidades Autónomas El Rosario y Egipto con despojarles de sus tierras.

El miércoles 30 de julio, el grupo agresor volvió a entrar para limpiar una parte del terreno, fumigaron 3 hectáreas de potrero, hirieron con cuchillo a un torete cebú e inscribieron en la tierra la leyenda “territorio Pojcol”.¹

Por estos hechos, este Centro de Derechos Humanos realizó intervenciones puntuales, dirigiendo documentos al gobierno del estado de Chiapas a fin de que se adopten las medidas necesarias para evitar consecuencias de difícil o imposible reparación.

El Frayba ha documentado otras agresiones contra BAEZLN, entre las recientes: el asesinato del señor José Luis Solís López “Maestro Galeano” y la destrucción de la clínica y escuela autónoma zapatistas, el pasado 02 de mayo en la Comunidad Autónoma La Realidad, Municipio oficial de Las Margaritas. Hechos perpetrados por militantes del Partido Verde Ecologista de México (PVEM), Partido Acción Nacional (PAN) e integrantes de la Central Independiente de Obreros Agrícolas y Campesinos Histórica (CIOAC-H); estos actos se dieron previo a la reunión anunciada del Congreso Nacional Indígena y el Homenaje que realizaría el EZLN en memoria a Don Luis Villoro.²

The acts occurred on August 1, at 11:30 PM, when a group of armed people, coming from the Ejido Pojcol, municipality of Chilón, entered the land (used) for regional collective work of San Manuel Autonomous Municipality, recuperated by the Zapatista National Liberation Army (EZLN, its initials in Spanish). In this territory, bordering on the   Autonomous Communities of El Rosario and Egipto, the armed individuals killed a steer and fired gunshots.

When the group from Ejido Pojcol carried out acts of occupation and armed harassment, members of the Egipto Autonomous Community perceived that, various individuals with flashlights in hand, were heading towards their village. For this reason and to avoid a possible attack, on August 2, at 12:30 AM, 32 people (women, little girls and boys, and the elderly) were forcibly displaced, walking during all the early hours of the morning, to reach another Zapatista town where they are currently sheltered.

These new acts of harassment, territorial dispossession and aggressions are presented within the framework of the First Exchange of the Zapatista Peoples and the Original Peoples of Mexico “Compañero David Ruiz García,” meeting with the National Indigenous Congress, which began this Monday, August 4 in the Autonomous Community of La Realidad.

Before imminent risk and the gravity of the acts that happen in the MAREZ of San Manuel, belonging to the Junta “Path of the Future,” of Caracol III of La Garrucha, we ask National and International Civil Society to remain alert so that acts of violence against the Zapatista bases don’t continue escalating.
Background:

On Friday, July 25, at 6:00 AM, 19 armed people entered the land for regional collective work of San Manuel Autonomous Municipality for the first time. They constructed roofs; they destroyed, burned and used signs that the EZLN had installed in protest after the murder of Teacher Galeano as firewood. At the same time, the aggressors fired 3 gunshots into the air, with .22-caliber weapons during the morning g and afternoon and afternoon. They left the community at 1:30 AM, on July 26. During the time that they were there, they threatened the Zapatista bases from El Rosario and Egipto autonomous communities with dispossessing them of their lands.

On Wednesday, July 30, the aggressor group again entered to clean one part of the land, they fumigated 3 hectares of pasture, injured a zebu steer with a knife and inscribed the legend “Pojcol Territory” on the land.

Because of these acts, this Human Rights Center made punctual interventions, directing documents to the Chiapas state government so that the necessary measures are adopted to avoid consequences difficult or impossible to repair.

The Frayba has documented other aggressions against the BAEZLN, among the recent ones: the murder of Señor José Luis Solís López “Teacher Galeano” and the destruction of the autonomous Zapatista clinic and school, last May 2 in the Autonomous Community of La Realidad, official municipality of Las Margaritas. Members of the Green Ecologist Party of Mexico (PVEM), National Action Party (PAN) and members of the Independent Central of Agricultural Workers and Campesinos-Historic (CIOAC-H) perpetrated those acts just prior to the announced meeting of the National Indigenous Congress and the Homage that the EZLN was going to hold in memory of Don Luis Villoro.
