[CDMX – 9 Dec] Political–cultural event for the freedom of Mumia Abu-Jamal and to organize the tribute to Carolina Saldaña
December 9, 2025
12 p.m. – U.S. Embassy, Reforma Avenue
We march for life and freedom!
Political–cultural event for the freedom of Mumia Abu-Jamal and for the organizing of a tribute to Carolina Saldaña, journalist, compañera, and tireless fighter.
On December 9, 1981, in the United States, Mumia Abu-Jamal, an African-American journalist, was arrested and imprisoned, falsely accused of killing a police officer. This injustice outraged the world, and voices against racism rose up. After 44 years of imprisonment—most of them on death row—the struggle for his freedom continues. For this reason, we want to propose continuing the legacy of our compañera Caro by holding the political–cultural event in front of the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City. This action joins us with others who take to the streets in different parts of the world to demand freedom for Mumia Abu-Jamal.
We also invite you to remember and honor the life of Carolina Saldaña, by being present on this date that meant so much to her, and in the very place where this event has taken place for more than 25 years—where she will be symbolically present through her ashes.
We call on all who want to take part in this activity to send their proposals to the Facebook page Amigxs de Mumia Abu-Jamal before December 5.
Within this same event, we will hold space for anyone who wishes to participate in organizing a tribute to our beloved Carolina.
With love, without fear.
