Mientras que Israel endurece el bombardeo hacia la Franja de Gaza asegurando que ha realizado al menos 320 ataques a objetivos militares del grupo armado Hamás, los medios y periodistas locales aseguran que la mayoría de los ataques han sido dirigidos hacia casas-habitación, escuelas, hospitales y centros civiles.

Los ataques de Israel han dejado al menos 5 mil muertos y, de ellos, se contabilizan 2 mil niños y niñas, según los medios palestinos. Solo en las últimas 24 horas se han reportado más de medio millar de personas muertas. Suman también 21 periodistas perecidos mientras cubrían los hechos según datos del Comité para la Protección de los Periodistas (CPJ).

La solidaridad hacia el pueblo palestino va en aumento. Estallan cientos de protestas en diversas partes del mundo exigiendo que se detenga el bombardeo israelí.

Desde los Estados Unidos, donde su gobierno ha respaldado políticamente y con armas a Israel, diversas colectividades han convocado a realizar múltiples acciones organizadas para exigir un alto al fuego hacia Gaza. Hacen un llamado a boicotear a empresas que apoyan a Israel como Amazon, Google, entre otros, además de medios de comunicación masivos.

Desde Washington D.C., la organización La Mayoría Creciente (The Rising Majority) ha exigido que el presidente Joe Biden y el Congreso de EEUU pidan un alto al fuego inmediato en Gaza.

“Somos personas de conciencia, que nos unimos por encima de credos, razas y generaciones, para decirle al presidente Biden y al Congreso que tienen que tomar una decisión: defender el valor de la vida humana y reducir la violencia o seguir apoyando la masacre del pueblo palestino por parte del gobierno israelí”, ha expresado la organización.

De la misma forma, La Red Media Justice ha emitido una declaración en solidaridad con la resistencia palestina y ha denunciado la complicidad de las grandes empresas tecnológicas con lo que llaman “el apartheid israelí”.

Denuncian los cortes de internet, la desinformación, la tecnología de vigilancia utilizada por Amazon y la policía desplegada en Gaza y el silenciamiento de la disidencia. “Estamos viendo en tiempo real los peligros de un entorno mediático y tecnológico que funciona con impunidad en nombre del interés del colonialismo”, puntualiza la Red.

Esta organización va más allá al señalar a las corporaciones de los medios de comunicación que vinculan a todo el pueblo Palestino con los actos realizados por Hamás, creando una narrativa que desinforma.

“Existe un largo historial de medios de comunicación que han fallado a comunidades históricamente marginadas, comunidades de color y a sus historias de resistencia. Las narrativas raciales del colonialismo justifican la violencia infligida a los palestinos. Sabemos que los medios de comunicación y la tecnología son así. Los grandes medios de comunicación representan al poder, eligen quién puede contar sus historias y quién puede representar sus intereses”, asevera la La Red Media Justice.

Así mismo, otras colectividades relacionadas con el uso de diversas tecnologías, como La Asociación para el Progreso de las Comunicaciones (APC), el Centro de Derechos Constitucionales y diversas organizaciones de la sociedad Civil exigen a las empresas tecnológicas, sobre todo a las de redes sociales, que respeten los derechos básicos de la información.

La APC cita al Centro Árabe para el Avance de los Medios Sociales, quién documentó en días pasados que al menos 19 mil tuits, de un total de 23 mil mensajes en hebreo de la plataforma “X”, incluía, entre otras cosas, “incitación al odio y racismo contra los palestinos. Por otra parte, diferentes plataformas de medios sociales están inundadas de desinformación, lo que contribuye a etiquetar, deshumanizar y estereotipar a los palestinos”, dice APC.

La Red Media Justice ha registrado que, Amazon Web Services (AWS) y Google, firmaron desde 2021 un contrato de 1.200 millones de dólares con el gobierno de Israel para un proyecto emblemático llamado “Proyecto Nimbus”, con el fin de proporcionar un “ecosistema” de servicios en la nube para el gobierno israelí.

Los dos gigantes tecnológicos ganaron, en el año 2021, los concursos públicos para construir y proporcionar a Israel sus centros de datos y servicios regionales basados en la nube. Este proyecto permitirá a los órganos de gobierno israelíes transferir sus datos alojados la nube proporcionados por Google y AWS en Irlanda, Holanda y Fráncfort. Este proyecto esta pensado a gran escala, dirigida conjuntamente por la Administración de Contratación Pública de la División del Contable General y la Agencia Digital Nacional, junto con la Dirección Nacional Cibernética de Israel, el Departamento de Presupuestos del Ministerio de Hacienda y el Departamento de Gobernanza y Asuntos Sociales de la Oficina del Primer Ministro.

Para los activistas de la Red Media Justice, Nimbus está diseñado para ampliar las capacidades de inteligencia artificial de Israel, “incluidas las utilizadas para vigilar a los activistas palestinos, vigilar la frontera de Gaza, obligar a los palestinos a abandonar sus tierras y operar el sistema de seguridad Cúpula de Hierro de Israel”.

Tras la firma de este convenio surgió en EEUU el movimiento #NoTechForApartheid, quienes han logrado recabar más 40 mil firmas de ciudadanos estadounidenses, a través del cual exige a Google y Amazon que “dejen de tratar con el régimen de apartheid israelí y se retiren del proyecto Nimbus”, señalan los integrantes de esta campaña.

“Por eso nos solidarizamos con nuestros compañeros de Mpower Change y Jewish Voices for Peace en la campaña #NoTechforApartheid, que ha organizado a cientos de estudiantes, trabajadores tecnológicos y activistas para que las empresas tecnológicas rindan cuentas por suministrar tecnología para la guerra y la violencia de Estado”, puntualiza la Red.

Esta Red ha trabajado en el informe Open for Business del Departamento de Seguridad Nacional, que pone de relieve la inversión de las grandes empresas tecnológicas en la potenciación de la policía local. “Utilizan el reconocimiento facial, las cámaras corporales y otras formas de vigilancia tecnológica”, denuncia el colectivo.

En las multitudinarias protestas se han sumado las voces de miles de personas desde Francia, Chile, Filipinas, Egipto, Sarajevo, Herzegovina, Uruguay, Irlanda a Escocia, del Reino Unido, Alemania, Italia, España, Francia a Polonia, de Rumanía a Bosnia, de Dinamarca a Bélgica, Australia, Canadá, EEUU y México, donde se han movilizado miles de personas que exigen un alto a los ataques contra Palestina.

Los activistas advierten que hay personas que están siendo intimidadas en línea para reducir el apoyo público a Palestina, incluso, usando el llamado “doxxing” que es una forma de acoso en línea que consiste en exponer públicamente el nombre real, la dirección, el trabajo y otras informaciones personales.

“La solidaridad pro-palestina está siendo activamente silenciada a través de algoritmos de redes sociales, la manipulación de los medios de comunicación, la magnificación de la retórica racista y el doxxing activo de individuos y organizaciones que se atreven a hablar”, arremete La Red Media Justice

La Red apela al derecho a la información y a la libertad de expresión como algo fundamental y básico para la dignidad de todas las personas.

Almost 15 years ago, in our words, the nightmare was forwarned. It was during a Semillero and it was through the voice of the deceased SupMarcos that we spoke. Here it goes:

Of sowings and reapings
(January 2009)

Maybe, what I am about to say has nothing to do with the main theme of this roundtable, or maybe it has.

Two days ago, the same day in which our word spoke of violence, the ineffable Condoleezza Rice, US government official, declared that what was going on in Gaza was the fault of the Palestinians, due to their violent nature.

The subterranean rivers that run through the world are able to change their geography, but they sing the same song.

And the river we now listen to sings of war and grief.

Not far from here, in a place called Gaza, in Palestine, in the Middle East, just next door, a heavily armed and trained army, from the Israeli government, continues its advance of death and destruction.

The steps it has followed so far are those of a classic military war of conquest: first a massive and intense bombardment to destroy “neuralgic” military posts (so they are called by military manuals) and to “soften up” resistance fortifications; then an iron grip on information: everything that is heard and seen “in the outside world”, that is to say, outside of the theatre of operations must be selected according to military criteria; now intense artillery fire over enemy infantry to protect the advance of troops to their new positions: after that an encirclement and siege to weaken the enemy garrison; then an assault to conquer the position by annihilating  the enemy; finally, the “cleansing” of the probable “nests of resistance”.

The military manual of modern warfare, with some variations or additions, is being followed step by step by invading military forces.

We don’t know much about this, and it is certain that there are specialists on the so called “conflict in the Middle East”, but from this corner, we have something to say:

According to the photos from news agencies, the “neuralgic” military posts destroyed by the Airforce of the Israeli government are houses, huts, civil buildings.

We have not seen any bunkers, barracks, military airports or cannon batteries among what has been destroyed. Then, we think, excuse our ignorance, that either the aircraft gunners have bad aim or in Gaza there are no such “neuralgic” military posts.

We don’t have the honor of having visited Palestine, but we suppose that in those houses, huts and buildings used to live people, men, women, children and elderlies, and not soldiers.

We have not seen resistance fortifications either, only debris.

What we have seen, is the so far futile effort to cordon off information and several governments of the world wavering between playing the fool or applauding the invasion, and a UN, already useless way back, publishing lukewarm press releases.

But wait. It now occurs to us that perhaps, for the Israeli government, these men, women, children and elderly people are enemy soldiers and, as such, the huts, houses and buildings where they live in are barracks that need to be destroyed.

And the enemy garrison that they want to weaken with the encirclement and siege of Gaza is none other than the Palestinian population living there. And that the assault will seek to annihilate that population. And that any man, woman, child or elderly person who manages to escape, by hiding from the predictably bloody assault, will then be «hunted down» so that the cleansing can be completed, and the military chief in command of the operation can report to his superiors «we have completed the mission.»

Excuse our ignorance again, perhaps what we are saying is, in fact, beside the point. And that instead of repudiating and condemning the crime in progress, as indigenous people and as warriors that we are, we should be discussing and taking a position on the discussion about  whether it’s  «Zionism» or «anti-Semitism», or that it was the Hamas bombs that started it.

Perhaps our thoughts are very simple, and we lack the nuances and the always very necessary marginal notes in the analysis, but, for us Zapatistas, in Gaza there is a professional army assassinating a defenseless population.

Who from below and to the left can remain silent?

Is it useful to say something? Do our screams stop any bombs? Is our word saving the life of a  Palestinian child?

We think that it is useful, maybe we will not stop a bomb nor will our word become an armored shield that prevents that 5.56 mm or 9 mm caliber bullet, with the letters «IMI» («Israeli Military Industry») engraved on the base of the cartridge, from reaching the chest of a girl or a boy, but maybe our word will manage to join with others in Mexico and the world and maybe first it will become a murmur, then a loud voice, and then a cry that will be heard in Gaza.

We don’t know about you, but we Zapatistas of the EZLN know how important it is, in the midst of destruction and death, to hear a few words of encouragement.

I don’t know how to explain this, but it turns out that words from afar may not be enough to stop a bomb, but they are as if a crack opened in the black room of death for a small light to slip through.

Otherwise, what will happen will happen. The Israeli government will declare that it has dealt a severe blow to terrorism, it will hide the magnitude of the massacre from its people, the big producers of weapons will have gotten an economic break to face the crisis and «world public opinion,» that malleable entity, always in tune with the situation, will turn to look the other way.

But not only. It will also happen that the Palestinian people will resist and survive and continue fighting, and continue to have sympathy for their cause from those below.

And perhaps a boy or girl from Gaza will survive too. Perhaps they will grow and, with them, anger, indignation, rage. Perhaps they will become soldiers or partisans for one of the groups fighting in Palestine. Maybe he or she will face combat against Israel. Maybe he or she does it by firing a rifle. Maybe by blowing himself up with a belt of dynamite sticks around his waist.

And then, up there, someone will write about the violent nature of the Palestinians and make statements condemning that kind of violence and there will be another debate about whether Zionism or anti-Semitism.

And then no one will ask who sowed what was reaped.

Those who were children then, almost 15 years ago, and who survived, well…

There are those who were responsible for sowing what is now being reaped, and there are those who, with impunity, repeat the sowing.

Those who just a few months ago justified and defended Putin’s Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, arguing its «right to defend itself from a potential threat», must now be juggling (or betting on forgetfulness) to invalidate that argument in relation of Israel.  And vice versa.

Today, in Palestine and Israel -and all over the world- there are children and young people learning what terrorisms teach: that there are no limits, no rules, no laws, no shame.

And no responsibilities.

Neither Hamas nor Netanyahu. The people of Israel will prevail. The people of Palestine will prevail. They only need to give themselves a chance and work hard at it.

Meanwhile, each war will continue to be only the prelude to the next, more ferocious, more destructive, more inhumane.

Al amanecer del sábado 7 de octubre de 2023 el universo humano dio un vuelco. El reloj del fin de la vida aceleró su mecanismo. Ese día, muy cerca de donde dicen que nació Jesús de Nazaret, militantes de una milicia islámica palestina conocida como Hamás, atacaron bélicamente y con armas de alto poder algunas poblaciones cercanas a la frontera de Gaza; causaron varios disturbios violentos, asesinaron a cientos de civiles, raptaron a otros tantos que mantienen como rehenes, desplegaron con destreza un arsenal importante de armas y dispararon innumerables misiles.

Esta agresión producida por guerrilleros musulmanes en el Medio Oriente, calificada por el primer ministro israelí como un “ataque sorpresivo y asesino contra Israel”, ha alterado inmediatamente la prioridad internacional del gobierno americano, al otro lado del globo. Washington que no tenía ojos más que para Ucrania en su guerra contra Rusia, hoy pone su atención desmedida al apoyo de la entidad sionista. Tal como lo apunta la periodista y geopolítica rusa Liu Sivaya, en una sola noche el mundo se ha vuelto más peligroso y todos los países donantes de Kiev podrían reconsiderar por ello su estrategia de asistencia militar a Ucrania y hasta cortarla, por su propia seguridad futura.

El gobierno israelí ha respondido a tan insolente provocación de Hamás con un talante vengativo y virulento y se ha ido en contra de la población palestina, la civil, inocente y en todo caso, vulnerable gente de a pie, en la Franja de Gaza, donde aviones israelíes han bombardeado en estos primeros días de conflicto, toneladas de misiles sobre el territorio densamente poblado, en la costa del Mediterráneo, además de cortar los suministros de energía y agua en los hogares, conminando a los palestinos a desterrarse voluntariamente, ante el advenimiento del infierno que les promete, montará sobre sus casas y sus muertos. Pero, ¡atención humanidad dormida! Occidente no condena esta guerra expansionista de Israel contra el pueblo palestino, definitivamente no emitirá sanciones económicas para su aliado mítico e incondicional. Por el contrario, en nombre del honor y a causa de la ofensa, los Estados Unidos se aprestan a apoyar y a defender el derecho de Israel a atacar gente inocente, cuyo territorio fue colonizado primero por la Gran Bretaña y posteriormente ocupado por lo que hoy es el Estado de Israel.

Declaración de Kongra Star en el Día de la Resistencia Indígena

En este DÍA DE LA RESISTENCIA Y LA DIGNIDAD INDÍGENA, nos unimos al llamamiento del CONGRESO NACIONAL DE LOS PUEBLOS INDÍGENAS en solidaridad con los pueblos resistentes de Abya Yala y de todo el mundo, contra la muerte que nos impone el capitalismo patriarcal global, ahora más que nunca.

En este día, 12 de octubre, hace 531 años, comenzó la colonización del continente de Abya Yala. Esto marcó el comienzo de una era destructiva de explotación y opresión para las poblaciones indígenas no sólo en Abya Yala, sino en todo el mundo, una política de opresión hegemónica que continúa bajo los Estados coloniales hasta el día de hoy. Ya sea en forma de guerras, esclavitud moderna por parte de corporaciones e imperios empresariales, robo de tierras y destrucción del medio ambiente, o mediante genocidios culturales, destrucción de las lenguas y culturas de las poblaciones indígenas, y negación de la participación política y la autodeterminación. Cada día miles de hombres, mujeres y menores son víctimas de este sistema, están a merced de una forma permanente y cruel de guerra. Este es el resultado de un orden mundial basado en una mentalidad de destrucción: negación de la voluntad de las mujeres, fomento del racismo, supresión de la identidad personal y colectiva, destrucción de la cultura social y de la ética.

Sin duda, la única respuesta es la resistencia. Resistencia mediante la creación de conciencia, la autoorganización de las personas y su lucha, en particular la de las mujeres. Esta es la razón por la que el 12 de octubre es un día tan significativo, no sólo como el comienzo de la ocupación de un continente, sino más que eso, porque marca el comienzo de la resistencia contra toda ocupación. La resistencia organizada de los pueblos, que no callarán ante la violencia y la opresión, que no se someterán al colonialismo y a las prohibiciones de los regímenes explotadores, sino que los rechazarán, es la garante de la justicia, la democracia y la libertad de todos los pueblos.

Como Kongra Star, un movimiento de mujeres que luchan por la libertad en Rojava, Kurdistán Occidental y Siria, conocemos el dolor asociado a la ocupación de la propia tierra, la pérdida de la propia historia, lengua y tradiciones, y conocemos el poder de la resistencia organizada. Durante muchos años, aquí en Kurdistán y en Oriente Medio, como mujeres, hemos liderado la lucha por nuestra libertad y la libertad de nuestra tierra y nuestra sociedad.

En nuestra lucha y resistencia nos sentimos unidas a todos los pueblos oprimidos del mundo, a todos los pueblos que no se someten y a todas las mujeres que resisten. Nosotras, especialmente vinculadas a nuestra sociedad y a nuestra tierra, somos vanguardia en la lucha por la libertad de nuestros pueblos. En este espíritu, expresamos hoy nuestra adhesión y solidaridad con la resistencia indígena, y saludamos en particular a todas las mujeres militantes que forman parte de ella.

Hoy 12 de octubre se cumplen 531 años del inicio de la invasión europea a nuestras tierras y territorios, fecha que marcaría el inicio de uno de los mayores genocidios en la historia de la humanidad y de la salvaje globalización capitalista que ha sido impuesta a todos los pueblos del mundo; pero también se cumplen 531 años del inicio de la resistencia y la rebeldía de nuestros pueblos en contra de esta interminable guerra de invasión y conquista capitalista patriarcal; y 27 años de haberse fundado el Congreso Nacional Indígena como el espacio de lucha y unidad de los pueblos originarios de México,

Actualmente el mundo vive en medio de grandes guerras como lo acreditan la masacre y el exterminio que en estos momentos lleva a cabo el ejército de ocupación israelí en contra del pueblo palestino en la franja de Gaza y en Cisjordania. De guerra en guerra y por medio de ellas el capitalismo global se reproduce cotidianamente.

México, a pesar de los disfraces y mentiras que brotan del gobierno de la Cuarta Transformación, no es la excepción y los cifras que describen la violencia y la guerra son elocuentes: más de 156 mil homicidios dolosos, más de 43 mil personas desaparecidas y no localizadas, más de 4 mil feminicidios, 75 periodistas y 104 personas defensoras de tierra y territorio, pueblos indígenas, derechos humanos y medio ambiente asesinadas en este sexenio, casi la mitad de estos últimos participantes en el espacio que es el CNI.

México entero es un campo de guerra que se expresa en la militarización, el militarismo y el paramilitarismo exacerbados, la presencia de los cárteles criminales por doquier y la persecución, nunca antes vista, de migrantes mediante el uso de la guardia nacional y las fuerzas castrenses.

Particularmente la frontera de México con Guatemala en Chiapas, donde el Cártel Jalisco Nueva Generación y el Cártel de Sinaloa disputan sangrientamente el territorio, o regiones enteras de estados como Guerrero, Michoacán, Colima, Jalisco, Guanajuato, Sonora, Chihuahua, Zacatecas y Tamaulipas, viven un clima de aguda violencia bajo el control casi total de los cárteles criminales, mismo que se complementa con la ausencia de gobierno y la simbiosis entre instituciones públicas, funcionarios, mandos militares y grupos de la delincuencia organizada. Adicionalmente, en Chiapas existe un claro cerco de guerra en contra del Ejército Zapatista de Liberación Nacional (EZLN) y los pueblos zapatistas, escenario en el que los grupos paramilitares operan con total impunidad desde hace tres décadas y últimamente han aumentado sus agresiones contra las comunidades zapatistas, destacando  los más de 100 ataques, entre 2019 y 2023, que la Organización Regional de Cafeticultores de Ocosingo (ORCAO) ha llevado a cabo en contra de poblados zapatistas pertenecientes al Caracol 10, Floreciendo la Semilla Rebelde.

Current Situation

Since the 4th of October 2023, Turkish army forces have systematically been bombarding villages, towns and general infrastructure in the districts of Derik, Rimelan, Tirbesipi, Qamishlo, Amude, Hasake, Til Temir, Dirbesi, Manbij, Ain Issa, Kobane, Tal Rifat, Shehba, Shera and Sherawa, covering a geographical area of approximately 900 kms by 52 kms of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES).

Turkish warplanes, armed drones (UAVs), artillery and mortars have been targeting civilian settlements and vehicles, electric power stations, gas stations, water resources and energy supplies, oil fields, health centres and hospitals (including two hospitals specialising in Covid-19 patients), cement factories, crop fields, granaries and food companies, as well as the M4 highway and the surroundings of refugee camps in the regions of Hasake, Derik, Sheba and Sherawa that are inhabited by ten thousands of internally displaced persons. These attacks have been carried out from Turkish army bases inside Turkey, as well as from areas within North Syria that are under Turkish occupation since 2016, such as Jerablus, Afrin, Gire Sipi and Serekaniye.

During the first three days of the current attacks at least 16 people lost their lives, and dozens have been injured. About two million people have been left without electricity, sufficient energy or water supplies and have no access to healthcare. In a press statement the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria announced that the bombardments targeting the electricity infrastructure alone have so far caused material losses of 56 million US dollars.

We are facing a new dimension of Turkey’s invasive war that is aimed at occupying, “ethnically cleansing”, and destroying more areas of North Syria. The latest attacks have been announced by the Turkish government with the declared aim of wiping out “all infrastructure, superstructure, and energy facilities” in order to destroy all basis of life in North and East Syria and to depopulate the region. These attacks are targeting the lives and the security of more than six million people of different cultures and believes –such as Kurds, Arabs, Suryoye, Circassian, Turkmen, Ezidi, Christians, Muslim and others– living together on common land, and fulfilling their vital needs within the structures of Democratic Autonomy. Despite ongoing airstrikes, tens of thousands of residents of the cities and regions under attack are out on the streets condemning the attacks and declaring their determination to continue their common resistance against war and occupation –for a life of dignity, peace and freedom.

The latest Turkish attacks add to the systematic drone warfare, airstrikes and military operations carried out by Turkish army forces in the Kurdish regions on Syrian and Iraqi territory. Since 2020, the lives of community workers, journalists, politicians, members of the Autonomous Administration, the women’s movement and the self-defence forces have been deliberately targeted. Just between January 2022 and September 2023, due to about 190 Turkish drone strikes 163 people lost their lives and 218 were severely injured. Among them there are dozens of members of the YPG-YPJ and Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) who have fought against Islamic State (ISIS) to defend humanity. Therefore, it does not seem to be a coincidence that the Turkish army started its massive air strike operation exactly at a time when SDF carried out large-scale operations to prevent the resurgence of ISIS.

Although all these attacks by the Turkish army on Syrian territory involve clear violations of international humanitarian law and war crimes and thus are contributing to deepen the humanitarian crisis in Syria and the whole Middle East, neither the UN nor other international bodies, states or forces have yet adequately condemned these crimes or taken any effective steps to stop them. 

Therefore we call the international community and all concerned bodies to take urgent action to prevent further crimes against humanity and to stop Turkey’s war and occupation policies. 

We call urgently all the sensitive and committed people in the world to

• Counteract Turkey’s disinformation policies and media censorship by providing and spreading information from sources in the targeted region itself.

We demand international organisation and governments to

• Establish a No-Flight-Zone for the Turkish Air Force, including armed and unarmed UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) over Syrian and Iraqi airspace.

From all over the world we demand urgently that 

• The Turkish Government stops its war attacks, politics of occupation, and systematic killings of women’s rights defenders and people living in any part of Kurdistan, especially in the territories of North and East Syria, and North Iraq.

• Turkey ends its occupation and genocidal practices on Syrian territories such as in the regions of Jerablus, Afrin, Gire Sipi and Serekaniye.

• In accordance with international law, war crimes and crimes against humanity should be prosecuted, including genocide and feminicide committed by president Erdoğan and his Justice and Development Party (AKP) government.

The great powers of the world do not view the autonomy of the Kurdish people in a favourable light, because it threatens their interests and ways of exercising power. The great world powers do not want to see the example of millions of Kurdish people being propagated. They do not want the world to know about the Kurdish people who meet in more than four thousand local assemblies to decide themselves over the course of their lives. In these assemblies, women exercise full political, economic and social rights. The same Kurdish people are out to defend themselves with weapons in their hands. They exercise justice through popular committees, and their means of production are collectively owned. None of them renounces their faith, their language, their beliefs or customs. They live together with others, accept their differences and organise themselves accordingly. In other words, the world powers (governments, nation-states, corporations, the powers that be) cannot respect, and even less let live and flourish a Kurdish society that is struggling for a world in which many worlds fit.
