L@s Zapatistas y las ConCIENCIAS por la Humanidad

En este segundo día del encuentro L@s Zapatistas y las ConCIENCIAS por la Humanidad, viajamos a los orígenes del universo, recorrimos la historia de la humanidad desde los homínidos hasta el capitalismo, se cuestionó el papel de la ciencia al servicio del poder, se reflexionó sobre su potencial emancipador cuando puesta al servicio del pueblo y se criticó a las nuevas modas de las pseudociencias y sus promesas de soluciones prontas y explicaciones enlatadas. Desde las disciplinas de la física y la astrofísica hasta la biología, l@s alumn@s zapatistas pudieron escuchar, profundizar y cuestionar los conceptos presentados por científicos, que asumieron seriamente el desafío de iniciar este diálogo de epistemologías, no con lxs 200 zapatistas presentes, sino con los miles a quienes su palabra llegará a través de l@s alumn@s. Y, finalmente, el Alquimista SupGaleano (junto con el SupMoi, Sherlock Holmes y Defensa Zapatista), concluyó que “La culpa es de la flor”.

“Earlier this year, on February 30, 2016, the Swedish electronic science magazine, River’s Scientist Research Institute, published a study that may revolutionize science and its social applications.

A group of scientists, led by Swedish doctors Stod Sverderg, Kurt Wallander, and Stellan Skarsgard, presented a complex, multidisciplinary analysis that arrived at the following provocative conclusion: There exists a direct correlation between the increase in quantity and quality of feminist movements, and the decrease in birth rates.

Combining statistical methods, embryology, molecular biology, genetics, and analytical behavior, the scientists concluded that the rise in the diversity of feminism’s belligerence provokes libido inhibitors in males, thus reduces the rate of frequency of sexual reproduction.

But there’s more. Laboratory analyses established that male spermatozoa exposed to feminist activism are weaker than unexposed spermatozoa. Known as astebizisoermia, or “lazy spermatozoa” syndrome, it is more prevalent in male populations where feminism occupies a protagonist role in social organization. According to the published article, Dr. Everet Bacstrom of the Rainn Wilson Institute, headquartered in London, tested the investigation’s theory with a sample of European, WASP, middle class males and reached the same conclusion.

In an interview with the publication, European feminist activists Chloë Sevigny and Sarah Linden said that the study was merely a dirty example of “patriarchal scientism.”

Durante el segundo día del encuentro convocado por el EZLN, se llevaron a cabo conferencias, talleres y pláticas de divulgación científica en las que zapatistas, integrantes de pueblos originarios y miembros de la sociedad civil escucharon y cuestionaron a científic@s de distintos países.

Por la mañana, pasadas las 10 horas, el día arranco con una serie de conferencias que inauguro el físico Alejo Stark, quien mostró, a través de la comparación entre la energía obscura y las teorías del fin de la historia, como la producción del conocimiento científico está relacionada con el sistema social dominante, en la era actual con el capitalismo.

Por su parte, la bióloga Tatiana Fiordelisio narró cómo las ciencias han sido utilizadas como armas de guerra, de genocidio y de ecocidio. Para ejemplificar esta afirmación, recurrió a la historia del agente naranja –utilizado durante la guerra en Vietnam– y a la utilización de energías fósiles y sus repercusiones en el planeta tierra. Fiordelisio puso énfasis en la relación entre ciencia y desarrollo social y señaló que «la ciencia es la historia y viceversa». La bióloga culminó su participación llamando a impulsar una otra ciencia, una ciencia zapatista, comprometida con la humanidad y con la construcción de un mundo mejor.

La larga fila de bases zapatistas serpentea rodeando el auditorio para entrar del lado opuesto donde se aglomeran cientos de personas de muchos rincones del mundo. La sección delantera del auditorio está reservada para los zapatistas, unas 200 bases de apoyo, las mujeres enfrente, los hombres atrás, todas y todos con cuaderno en mano. Son estudiantes. Pero estudiantes sui generis. Estudiantes “videntes” y “escuchas”, encargadxs de escuchar, observar y llevar la palabra a las comunidades. Pero también encargadxs de reflexionar, cuestionar, debatir. Desde hace meses se preparan, aunque en realidad se puede decir que son años, siglos quizás.

Estamos en el encuentro L@s Zapatistas y las ConCiencias por la Humanidad, y hasta el sureste mexicano llegaron cientos de oyentes de muchas partes de México y del mundo y decenas de científicos, quienes en los próximos días compartirán sus saberes con lxs alumnxs zapatistas e intentarán responder sus preguntas.

Pero ¿qué tiene que ver un movimiento rebelde indígena y esas ciencias, que van de la biología a la astrofísica? ¿Cómo caben las ciencias “duras” en un lugar que más tendría que ver con el realismo mágico que con la “objetividad” científica, donde existen los gato-perros, donde una gallina es capaz de convertirse en pingüino, donde un subcomandante puede ser el escudero de un escarabajo, donde los muertos resucitan y botargas decretan su propia muerte, donde se es soldado para que ya no haya soldados, donde se manda obedeciendo, donde pescados aparecen en ríos secos tras una breve lluvia, donde se inventan periscopios invertidos para indagar la concretud de las raíces y donde una niña que sabe que Dios es redondo no cesa en su obstinado afán de abrir grietas en un muro a patadas?

Unos 200 “escuchas” y “videntes” zapatistas y cientos de oyentes de muchas partes de México y el mundo se encontraron en el Cideci/Universidad de la Tierra Chiapas, en San Cristóbal de Las Casas, para un encuentro histórico entre científicos de las más diversas áreas de las ciencias formales y naturales y alumnos zapatistas. We send you our greetings. We want to update you on the plans for the gathering “The Zapatistas and ConSciences for Humanity,” to be held at the CIDECI-UniTierra in San Cristóbal de las Casas, Chiapas, from December 25, 2016 through January 4, 2017.

CONVOCATION FOR THE SECOND PHASE OF THE FIFTH NATIONAL INDIGENOUS CONGRESS

Given that:

1. During the first phase of the Fifth National Indigenous Congress, we analyzed and discussed in depth the different faces of the capitalist war on our peoples. We agreed that it is urgent to halt the displacement, destruction, disrespect, oblivion, and death to which our peoples are subjected and which seek to put an end to our individual and collective resistances and leave our homeland in the hands of the capitalists that govern this country and this world.

2. It is urgent to struggle, to take serious steps and go on the offensive alongside the peoples of the countryside and the city, indigenous and nonindigenous, to construct a new nation from below.

3. We agreed to remain in permanent assembly while carrying out a consultation in all of our geographies on the resolutions reached October 9-14, 2016, with respect to the formation of an Indigenous Governing Council, to be represented by an indigenous woman who is a CNI delegate who will run for the Mexican presidency in the electoral process of 2018.

WE CONVOKE THE SECOND PHASE OF THE FIFTH NATIONAL INDIGENOUS CONGRESS:

To be held December 29, 30, and 31, 2016, and January 1, 2017, in the Zapatista Caracol of Oventik. This Congress will have decisive capacity with regard to the agreements proposed in the first phase of the Fifth National Indigenous Congress as well as with regard to any agreements reached during this second phase. The Congress will be carried out according to the following schedule:

December 29:

a) Arrival and registration of CNI commissions.
b) Opening ceremony.

December 30: Closed plenary session to discuss:

a) The installation of the second phase of the Fifth National Indigenous Congress.
b) The report on the results of the internal consultation by the commission named for this purpose.
c) Evaluation of the results of the internal consultation in work groups.
d) Determination of the paths the CNI will take in the face of capitalist displacement, repression, disrespect, and exploitation, and the strengthening of our resistances and rebellions.
e) The steps to be taken toward the constitution of an Indigenous Governing Council for Mexico.

December 31: The work group discussions continue.

January 1: Plenary Session in the Zapatista Caracol of Oventik.

With regard to the above, and based on the agreements, reflections, and results that come out of the work around the internal consultation that is being carried out in each of the geographies of our peoples, we ask the peoples, nations, and tribes who make up the National Indigenous Congress to name delegates who will discuss and agree upon the steps to take. These delegates should register at the official email address: catedratatajuan@gmail.com.

In addition, as agreed during the general meeting of the Provisional Coordinating Commission held November 26, 2011, at the UNIOS facilities in Mexico City, we ask that the results of the consultation—as acts, minutes, pronunciations, or other forms that reflect the consensuses reached according to the methods of each people, nation, or tribe—be submitted by December 15 at the latest to the email address: consultacni@gmail.com.

The points put forward in this convocation will be discussed in closed sessions December 30 and 31, 2016, in which EXCLUSIVELY CNI delegates may participate. Compañer@s of the National and International Sixth as well as accredited media may participate in the January 1, 2017 plenary, or in any moment that the assembly deems appropriate.

We send you greetings. We write to inform you of the following:

First: Per instructions from the National Indigenous Congress, which at the moment is consulting with the originary peoples, barrios, tribes, and nations throughout Mexico on the proposal made during the first phase of the Fifth Congress, we inform you that the permanent assembly of the CNI will be reinstated December 29, 2016, at CIDECI-UNITIERRA in San Cristóbal de las Casas, Chiapas.

There the CNI will hold roundtable sessions on December 30 and 31 of this year. During these sessions, or before then if the CNI so chooses, the results of the consultation will be made known. On January 1, 2017, the plenary assembly will take place in Oventik, Chiapas, Mexico, and any agreements necessary will be made there.

The compañeras and compañeros of the originary peoples, barrios, tribes, and nations who make up the National Indigenous Congress inform us that they have financial difficulties that impede their travel to this meeting, and so they request solidarity donations from the national and international Sixth, as well as from any honest people who want to support them in this way. Hacía calor aquel sábado en la gran Tenochtitlan. Habían pasado 504 años desde que Europa tropezó con esta isla gigante, cuna de civilizaciones. Era 12 de octubre de 1996. Una multitud se reunía en el zócalo de la Ciudad de México para escuchar a la comandanta Ramona. Mirando directo hacia la catedral y el Templo Mayor, su voz dudaba en español y se afirmaba plena en tzotzil. “Queremos un México que nos tome en cuenta como seres humanos, que nos respete y reconozca nuestra dignidad”, nos dijo.
