NUEVO COMITÉ ECHA RAÍCES EN INGLATERRA

Desde el primer día de la Campaña “Eco Mundial en Apoyo a l@s Zapatistas: Justicia y Libertad para San Marcos Avilés y Francisco Sántiz López,” ha sido una fuente de inspiración y transformación la historia digna y valiente de nuestr@s compañer@s de San Marcos Avilés, la cual nos hace reconocer nuestra propia humanidad e interconexión. El dolor y la resistencia de nuestr@s compas Zapatistas siguen inspirando y impulsando a gente de todo tipo a que se sume a esta lucha para apoyarl@s.

Aunque de por sí esta campaña ya cuenta con la participación de much@s aliad@s con años de experiencia y otr@s veteran@s luchadoras y luchadores, la historia emotiva del pueblo de San Marcos Avilés ha sido tan fuerte que ha logrado tocar los corazones de gente con poco conocimiento previo sobre las luchas sociales y, literalmente, sin haber escuchado antes de l@s Zapatistas.

Ese es el poder de la palabra verdadera, pues nos brinda la posibilidad de seguir construyendo y fortaleciendo nuestras luchas locales y mundiales, alcanzando y reuniendo a personas de buen corazón nuevas para que juntemos nuestras fuerzas y transformemos nuestro mundo.

Tal es el caso de la siguiente carta escrita por un grupo de compañer@s de trabajo que, después de haber visto el video-mensaje de San Marcos Avilés, llen@s de mucha emoción, se unieron, investigaron la historia de l@s Zapatistas y formaron un Comité de la Palabra Verdadera para apoyar a nuestr@s compas. Aquí les va sus palabras emotivas que muestran el poder de la organización desde abajo.

Al pueblo de San Marcos AvilésSomos un grupo de personas de Inglaterra y acabamos de ver el video-mensaje que ustedes mandaron al mundo solicitando apoyo por la crisis que enfrentan.

El video de verdad nos tocó el corazón, y quedamos conmocionados por lo que ustedes están aguantando. Nunca habíamos escuchado de l@s zapatistas antes, y no conociamos la historia de ustedes. Pero como
resultado de haber visto este video, ahora hemos aprendido mucho sobre ustedes y vamos a contarle a otros. Queremos que el video sea mostrado y difundido más ampliamente para que mucha gente más se
entere de ello, y vamos a invitar a nuestr@s amigos a que vengan y lo vean también.

Hemos dicho que deseamos respaldar la campaña en su pro, y hemos firmado la Declaración.

Nos dijeron que se puede enviarles una carta breve de apoyo. Nosotr@s queremos que sepan que estamos pensando en ustedes, que les deseamos todo lo mejor, y que les extendemos las manos.

A NEW “COMITÉ” TAKES ROOT IN ENGLAND

Since the beginning of the “Worldwide Echo” campaign, the dignified and courageous story of our compañer@s from San Marcos Avilés has been a source of profound inspiration and transformation. Forcing us to recognize our own humanity and interconnectedness in this world, the pain and resilience of our Zapatista compas continue to inspire and move people of all walks of life to join the struggle to support them.

Although our campaign is indeed made up of many longtime supporters and seasoned social justice veterans, the moving story of the community of San Marcos Avilés has been so powerful that it has also motivated people with limited exposure to social justice struggles and literally no prior knowledge of the Zapatistas.

This is the power of the true word. It enables us to continue building and strengthening our local and global struggles by reaching out to new people of good hearts to join forces and transform our world.

Such is the case in the following letter written by a group of good-hearted co-workers who, despite being unfamiliar with the Zapatistas, were so taken by the video-message from San Marcos Avilés that they banded together, researched the history of the Zapatistas, and formed a Comité de la Palabra Verdadera (Committee of the True Word) to support our compas. Here are their moving words which illustrate the power of organizing from below.

To the people of San Marcos Aviles

We are a group of people from England who have just watched the video message you sent to the world asking for support in the crisis you are facing.

We were deeply moved by the video, and shocked at what you are having to endure. We had never heard of the Zapatistas before, and knew nothing of your history. As a result of watching this video, we have now learned about you and are going to tell others. We have asked for the video to be screened much more widely so many more people can learn about it, and are going to ask our friends to come and watch it too.

We have stated that we wish to back the campaign in your support, and have signed the Declaration.

We have been told that we can send you a short letter of support. We want you to know that we are thinking of you, that we wish you well, and that we are reaching out our hands to you.
