Ante las declaraciones del Gobierno Federal y el Grupo Aeroportuario de la Ciudad de México de que los trabajos de construcción del Nuevo Aeropuerto Internacional de la Ciudad de México en el Lago de Texcoco continuarán “hasta revisar nuevamente el proyecto, los avances y negociar con los acreedores e inversionistas los bonos de deuda”, pueblos originarios y pobladores de la Cuenca del Valle México con el acompañamiento de integrantes del Concejo Indígena de Gobierno para México del Congreso Nacional Indígena (CIG-CNI), del Movimiento de Abogados Insumisos Zapatistas (MAIZ), de científicos, compañeros de lucha y público en general, daremos a conocer nuestra posición en la CONFERENCIA DE PRENSA que llevaremos a cabo el próximo martes 11 de diciembre de 2018 a las 12 horas en el local de Uníos, ubicado en calle Carmona y Valle #32, Col. As President Trump escalated his attacks and threats against the Central American migrant caravans making their way to the U.S.-Mexico border, the Trump administration unveiled new sanctions against Venezuela and Cuba on Thursday. National security adviser John Bolton declared Venezuela, Cuba and Nicaragua to be part of a “troika of tyranny” and a “triangle of terror.” We speak with world-renowned professor, linguist and dissident Noam Chomsky about U.S. foreign policy in Central America. He joins us in Tucson, Arizona, where he now teaches at the University of Arizona. Chomsky is also institute professor emeritus at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he has taught for 50 years.

JOHN BOLTON: We will no longer appease dictators and despots near our shores. We will not reward firing squads, torturers and murderers. We will champion the independence and liberty of our neighbors. And this president and his entire administration will stand with the freedom fighters. The troika of tyranny in this hemisphere—Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua—has finally met its match.

AMY GOODMAN: As John Bolton spoke in Miami on Thursday, Democracy Now!‘s Nermeen Shaikh and I spoke with the world-renowned professor, linguist and dissident Noam Chomsky. He joined us from Tucson, Arizona, where he now teaches at the University of Arizona. El jueves 16 de noviembre la Suprema Corte de Justicia de la Nación (SCJN) declaró inconstitucional la Ley de Seguridad Interior por amplia mayoría. Al mismo tiempo la bancada de MORENA anunció que iniciará la semana próxima la discusión de una iniciativa de reforma constitucional para establecer el marco legal que permita la conformación de una Guardia Nacional bajo el mando de las Fuerzas Armadas (FFAA) con tareas de seguridad pública e investigación de delitos.

Como se ha sostenido por diferentes organizaciones y especialistas durante los últimos doce años y como lo confirmó la SCJN, el uso de cuerpos militares usados en tareas de seguridad pública no es adecuado, pues no están ni creados, ni entrenados para ella. Las FFAA están preparadas para la guerra y, por tanto, para eliminar objetivos y no para hacer tareas de prevención, disuasión o investigación criminal, por lo que tienden a mostrar un alto índice de letalidad.

Hermanas y hermanos:

Aquí en Acteal llueve, es noviembre, hace frío, de repente el sol pasa caminando sobre las nubes tupidas, húmedas. Aquí en estas tierras tsotsiles es tiempo de cosecha de café, pero, sin el calor del Padre Sol, no se secan los granos; en cambio las milpas enverdecen (se fertilizan), se sienten saciadas por la lluvia.

A un mes de cumplir veintiún años de la Masacre de Acteal, aquí pareciera que estamos tranquilos, pero, en el año de 1997 en el mes de noviembre, el Estado mexicano a través de sus paramilitares había oscurecido los días, había convertido en terror nuestras vidas con su guerra sucia; la muerte, agazapada se encontraba en los cañones asesinos de los verdugos priistas, para que a través de ellos enviara un castigo ejemplar contra 45 hombres y mujeres y más 4 bebés quienes se encontraban todavía dentro del vientre de sus madres, el día 22 de diciembre de 1997.

Every November, when Thanksgiving is scheduled, I think of the People of the First Nations (so-called Native Americans), and wonder about their mixed feelings for a holiday that celebrates their enormous generosity as well as their near-total destruction.

What do they have to be thankful of?

U.S. President Abraham Lincoln declared the first such holiday in 1863, and American popular culture has tied it to a meal between Aboriginal people and Europeans upon their arrival on this continent.

In fact, when the Spanish reached South America, and the English reached North America, they soon embarked on dual extermination campaigns, which led to holocausts of Indian nations, both north and south.

Their arrivals spelled the doom of hundreds of millions of people, hunted, starved, diseased and enslaved.

To them, hell had a white face.

They made treaty after treaty with the Indians, but the palefaces broke every one.

For the Conquistadors, Native peoples served as enslaved workers who worked themselves to death to mine silver and gold. To the Anglos, they were superfluous – it was Indian land they hungered for – and they got it – by hook or crook.

Caught between these two great, ravenous forces, there was little they could do, but fight, but Europe flooded the Americas with immigrants, and sheer numbers told the tale of woe.

When first they arrived, European settlements were places of disease, hunger and pitiless death. First Nations folk fed them, taught them planting and healed the, with herbal treatments. The colonists repaid them with unremitting war, smallpox used as biological weapons, land theft and slaughter.

Thanksgiving may be a holiday, but it ain’t a holy day.

It should be a day to be remembered, in remembrance of the First Nations that peopled this land, for tens of thousands of years.

Los colectivos, redes y organizaciones abajo firmantes respondiendo decididamente a la convocatoria de la “Campaña Nacional e Internacional por la Libertad de los presos de Tlanixco y la Tribu Yaqui”, emitida en la Segunda Asamblea Nacional del Congreso Nacional Indígena y del Concejo Indígena de Gobierno: invitamos a participar en la reunión amplia a todas las organizaciones, redes y colectivos que se sientan convocad@s por el llamado que realizaron el CNI y el CIG por la libertad de los presos de Tlanixco y la Tribu Yaqui: a fin de coordinar tiempos, acciones políticas y jurídicas.

Esta reunión se realizará hoy sábado 17 a las 2 PM en el local de UNIOS, Dr. Carmona y Valle #32, a cuadra y media del metro Cuauhtémoc. Nos acompañarán integrantes y familiares del Movimiento por la Libertad de los Defensores del Agua y de la Vida de Tlanixco y abogados solidarios.

Usemos las artes, la ciencias, la creatividad y sobre todo la organización de nuestras resistencias como fuerza solidaria por los presos políticos del CNI. Demostremos una vez más que abajo y a la izquierda existe una lucha capaz de encontrar en su diversidad, fuerza organizativa contra este sistema de muerte.

El pasado 15 y 16 de noviembre se realizó la séptima conferencia binacional en temas fronterizos entre organizaciones que llevan muchos años apoyando a migrantes que llegan a Estados Unidos y colectivos estudiantiles que buscan formas de apoyar a los migrantes que se encuentran en la frontera en busca de asilo. Le agradecemos a nuestra corresponsal “la profe Dru” quien nos ayudó a realizar estas entrevistas y nos compartió algunas fotos desde ese lado de la frontera.

A partir del lunes 12 de noviembre comenzaron a llegar integrantes de la caravana 2 a las instalaciones de la Ciudad Deportiva en el DF. Se espera que lleguen 2 mil integrantes de las carvanas 3 y 4 a lo largo de este martes 13. Se solicita apoyo de acopio, en espacial botellas de agua y alimentos preparados y enlatados.

Por la tarde llegaron mas de 500 integrantes de la segunda caravana, en esta ocasión fue notoria la falta de apoyo para atender a lxs migrantes. La carpa de organizaciones ciudadanas y religiosas ha sido la única instancia que ha mantenido presencia constante en el acompañamiento y soporte de las caravanas, les invitamos a llevar el acopio a esa carpa (Puerta 6, junto al estadio)

Tuvimos la oportunidad de platicar con algunos migrantes quienes nos compartieron sus historias a lo largo de su travesia, lxs invitamos a escucharlas y seguir apoyando.
