Asesinan a ejidatario de La Otra Campaña en Bachajón, Chiapas

Este Centro de Derechos Humanos condena el asesinato de Juan Vázquez Guzmán, ex-Secretario general de los adherentes a La Otra Campaña (La Sexta) en el ejido de San Sebastián Bachajón, quien se destacó por su participación activa en defensa de la Tierra y el Territorio ante el despojo gubernamental de Las Cascadas de Agua Azul y la imposición de la Caseta de Cobro en los accesos.

Según información proporcionada a este Centro, el pasado miércoles 24 de abril a las 23:00 horas personas desconocidas acertaron 5 impactos de bala a Juan Vázquez quien de manera inmediata perdió la vida.

Vecinos de la región refieren que Juan fue atacado justo cuando estaba llegando a su domicilio, de inmediato los agresores escaparon a bordo de una camioneta roja, doble cabina, misma que tomó la carretera que conduce a la cabecera municipal de Sitalá, misma que tiene accesos de salida a los municipios de Ocosingo, Cancúc y Chilón.

Desde el 2007 Juan Vázquez participaba activamente en la defensa de la Tierra y el Territorio de San Sebastian Bachajón[1], situación por la cual sostenía un amparo que actualmente está en revisión en el Tercer Tribunal Colegiado, con sede en Tuxtla Gutiérrez, bajo el número de expediente 118/2013.

El pasado 17 de abril los ejidatarios de San Sebastian Bachajón adherentes a La Otra Campaña de la Sexta Declaración de la Selva Lacandona, denunciaron públicamente[2] que su Territorio es amenazado por la política oficial de despojo territorial señalando continuidad bajo el actual gobierno del estado.

Ejidatario from The Other Campaign in Bachajón Chiapas is Murdered

The Centre for Human Rights condemns the assassination of Juan Vázquez Guzmán, former Secretary General of the adherents to the Other Campaign (La Sexta) in the ejido of San Sebastián Bachajón, who was noted for his active participation in the defense of Land and Territory against the government plunder of the Agua Azul Waterfalls and the imposition of the Toll Booth at the entrance.

According to information given to this Centre, on Wednesday April 24 at 23:00 pm persons unknown shot Juan Vázquez five times, killing him instantly.

Neighbors say that Juan was attacked just as he was arriving home, the attackers immediately fled in a red van, with a double cab, taking the road to the municipal headquarters of Sitalá, thus also having access to the roads to the municipalities of Ocosingo, Cancúc and Chilón.

Since 2007, Juan Vázquez had been active in the defense of the Land and Territory of San Sebastian Bachajón^one, a situation for which they held an order for legal protection (amparo) which is currently being reviewed in the Third Collegiate Court, based in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, under case number 118/2013.

On April 17th the ejidatarios of San Sebastian Bachajón, adherents to the Other Campaign of the Sixth Declaration of the Lacandon Jungle, publicly denounced ^two that their Territory is being threatened by the official policy of territorial dispossession which is continuing under the current  state government.
