Under the sun, on August 9, at the caracol, on the benches, a special auditorium was built, covered with banners of the organizations and in memory of compañero Galeano. Twenty eight peoples and tribes from all over Mexico worked together to think how to continue walking in the current context. Peoples and tribes met for an encounter of dialog in a common space. The struggles and hopes became visible.

During the exchange, a homage was done at the place where compañero David Ruiz suffered an accident when he was at the caracol during the homage to the Zapatista teacher José Luís Solís López “Galeano”. David Ruiz was an activist from the community of Xochicuautla, in the Otomi-Mexica forest.

“The compañero’s death, who is collectively reborn today in 28 peoples, colors, and tongues gathered at the Zapatista caracol of La Realidad, inspires in us, in this exchange as indigenous peoples, the joy of being together, of knowing we are alive as peoples, as tongues, as collective history transformed into memory, resistance, and congruence toward our mother earth, which is also alive and to which we owe our lives.”
