Ecotourism project by the Chiapas government behind repression to San Sebastián Bachajón

En un comunicado emitido ayer por los compañeros y compañeras del Ejido de San Sebastián Bachajón, avisan que realizarán un plantón en el crucero de Agua Azul por tiempo indefinido para exigirle al gobierno de Juan Sabines que libere a los 10 compañeros detenidos injustamente el pasado 3 de febrero, a quienes les están fabricando delitos de homicidio calficado por la muerte de un priísta el día que éstos atacaron la caseta.

Y denuncian que el ataque lo organizó el mismo gobierno para apoderarse del Centro Ecoturístico Cascadas de Agua Azul para sus intereses y proyectos transnacionales. Prueba de ello es que el 29 de abril del 2009 los priístas que ahora tienen en sus manos la caseta, firmaron un convenio con el gobierno y el 5 de mayo del 2009 otro más con el comisariado de Tumbalá donde acuerdan entregar el Centro Ecoturístico al gobierno.

Además, desde el Cereso 17 de Playas de Catazajá, en una comunicación, los compañeros presos explican a detalle las irregularidades de las detenciones.

We spoke with doctor Alejandro Meza, member of the Red of Medical and Mental Health Personnel for the Attention to Survivors of Torture and external collaborator of the Fray Bartolomé de las Casas Human Rights Center (Frayba), who recently suffered threats and had his house and car broken into. We also interviewed Jorge Hernández, from the Frayba, who spoke of the situation of human rights activists at the national level and in Chiapas.
