San Cristóbal de Las Casas, 27 de octubre de 2016. En conferencia de prensa en el Centro Cultural Paliacate, ejidatarios adherentes a la Sexta Declaración de la Selva Lacandona del ejido de San Sebastián Bachajón denunciaron agresiones y amenazas por parte del grupo del comisariado oficialista Manuel Guzmán Álvaro y una fuerte presencia policial en su territorio. Esto en el contexto de su larga lucha en defensa de la tierra y el territorio ante los megaproyectos turísticos que el gobierno y empresas pretenden desarrollar en la región.

To the compañeras, compañeros, compañeroas of the National and International Sixth:

Brothers and sisters:

We send you greetings. We write to inform you of the following:

First: Per instructions from the National Indigenous Congress, which at the moment is consulting with the originary peoples, barrios, tribes, and nations throughout Mexico on the proposal made during the first phase of the Fifth Congress, we inform you that the permanent assembly of the CNI will be reinstated December 29, 2016, at CIDECI-UNITIERRA in San Cristóbal de las Casas, Chiapas.

There the CNI will hold roundtable sessions on December 30 and 31 of this year. During these sessions, or before then if the CNI so chooses, the results of the consultation will be made known. On January 1, 2017, the plenary assembly will take place in Oventik, Chiapas, Mexico, and any agreements necessary will be made there.

The compañeras and compañeros of the originary peoples, barrios, tribes, and nations who make up the National Indigenous Congress inform us that they have financial difficulties that impede their travel to this meeting, and so they request solidarity donations from the national and international Sixth, as well as from any honest people who want to support them in this way. To offer this support, the compas of the CNI ask that people communicate directly with them at the following email: info@congresonacionalindigena.org. From there they will explain where and how to send support.

Es cada vez más peligroso ser mujer (o niña) en México, donde matan a siete hermanas, amigas, compañeras, madres o hijas cada día con impunidad y con un nivel de odio y desprecio antes considerado impensable. Personas llenas de vida, ahora torturadas hasta morir, se convierten en las personajes de una macabra obra de teatro: la descuartizada, la golpeada, la empalada, la enmaletada, la ahogada en un canal de aguas negras, prácticamente todas violadas. Ésta es la cara del feminicidio.

Con rabia e indignación sobre esta alarmante situación, muchas mujeres mexicanas en la Ciudad de México y los estados de Guerrero, Guadalajara, Michoacán y Oaxaca, entre otros, se sumaron a la movilización contra el feminicidio convocada desde Argentina a partir de la violación y asesinato de la joven de 16 años, Lucía Pérez, el pasado 8 de octubre.  La chica fue drogada y atacada por al menos tres hombres —Juan Pablo Offidani,  Matías Farías y Alejandro Alberto Masiel— quienes dejaron una gran cantidad de condones usados en el cuarto y violaron a Lucía por vía anal con un palo. Según la fiscal que investigó el crimen, «el excesivo dolor le causó la muerte por reflejo vagal», que provocó un paro cardio-respiratorio.

En Argentina, el 19 de octubre, a la 1 de la tarde, miles de mujeres salieron de su lugar de trabajo para participar durante una hora en un paro nacional —el primero en la historia de Argentina y el mundo en rechazo a la violencia de género. Luego celebraron multitudinarias marchas en todo el país, acompañadas por acciones solidarias en Chile, Bolivia, México, Estados Unidos, Uruguay, Honduras, Paraguay, Ecuador, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador y Guatemala, España y Francia.

Ese día a las 11 de la mañana cientos de mujeres y decenas de hombres en la Ciudad de México observaron el «Miércoles Negro» en el Ángel de la Independencia con el lema de «Ni una menos» deletreado en grandes pancartas. Es decir, explicó una joven, «ni un asesinato más para que tengamos una mujer menos con nosotras». Las y los participantes gritaron consignas como «Vivas nos queremos» para exigir justicia y un fin a la impunidad por las mujeres asesinadas en México y el mundo.

Esta caravana es un esfuerzo colectivo cuyo objetivo es solidarizarse con las diferentes luchas que se libran en México, y, al mismo tiempo, denunciar la represión del gobierno hacia los luchadores sociales que se manifiesta en desapariciones, asesinatos, presos políticos, despojos de tierras, feminicidios, etc. así mismo, denunciando y exigiendo el alto a el plan Mérida. Del 18 de octubre al 18 de noviembre, una delegación de siete movimientos sociales recorrerá varias ciudades de EUA llevando esa denuncia y promoviendo la solidaridad. La caravana está integrada por representantes de: alumnos de Ayotzinapa, asamblea de padres/madres de los 43 estudiantes desaparecidos de Ayotzinapa, la Coordinadora Nacional de Trabajadores de la Educación (CNTE), jornaleros de San Quintín, “Nuestras Hijas de Regreso a Casa” de Ciudad Juárez denunciando feminicidios, Víctimas de Ataque a la comunidad de Nochixtlan, Oaxaca, y Xochicuautla, comunidad otomí, denunciando mega-proyectos/despojo de tierras a comunidades indígenas.

El lunes 24 de octubre conversamos con dos participantes de la caravana: una compañera de San Francisco Xochicuautla y un estudiante de la Normal de Ayotzinapa. Platicamos sobre la situación en Xochicuautla, la iniciativa y las actividades de la caravana y la recepción que han tenido en Estados Unidos. Invitamos a escuchar y compartir estos testimonios.

To the Yaqui Tribe,
To the peoples and governments of the world,

As the originary peoples who make up the National Indigenous Congress and the Zapatista communities, we send our simple words in solidarity with the Yaqui Tribe, its traditional government, and its troops. We are with you in these difficult moments after the confrontations this past October 21 in Lomas de Bácum.

We condemn the conflict and discord that are planted and promoted in the communities by the bad governments and their overseers, national and international corporations, who want to take control over the gas, water, and minerals of the Yaqui territory. To this end, the powerful sow division as a tool to impose death and destruction in our territories. For them, we are merely a path to more power and more money.

As the peoples, nations, and tribes of the National Indigenous Congress and the Zapatista peoples, we salute the Yaqui Tribe’s defense of their territory. We call for unity in the face of a common enemy which aims to take everything that we as peoples have and which makes possible our collective organization, our history, our language, and our life.

In the various geographies of resistance of the originary peoples of this country, the bad governments are using our own people to generate violence among us in order to guarantee their ability to impose extractive projects of death, structural reforms, the destruction of communitarian organization, and terror among those who struggle. For those who struggle, in contrast to the capitalists, the life and future of the people is everything.

We call on national and international civil society, on the originary peoples, on the national and international Sixth, and on the free media to be attentive and demand the respect deserved by the indigenous peoples in their autonomous organization and self-determination.

DENUNCIA PÚBLICA

HERMANAS Y HERMANOS

Nosotras y Nosotros somos los familiares de los ejecutados, de las personas desaparecidas y de quienes sufrimos el desplazamiento forzado de nuestras comunidades de la zona baja del municipio de Tila, dentro del Conflicto Armado Interno en Chiapas.

Nosotras y Nosotros somos quienes hemos sufrido la estrategia contrainsurgente implementada por el gobierno mexicano a través del Plan de Campaña Chiapas 94, en la cual se formaron grupos paramilitares para acabar con las bases de apoyo del EZLN. En nuestra zona se formó el grupo paramilitar Organización Desarrollo Paz y Justicia, quien actuó bajo la preparación y protección de distintos niveles de gobierno en contra de la sociedad civil. Hasta hoy sufrimos esos graves efectos.

¿TE MOLESTA MI AMOR?

“Mi mamá, mi mamá, dónde está mi mamá, a mi hermanito se lo llevaron en un carro, mi mamá, ay mamá, ¡dónde estás, mamá!”… Eran gritos, estaba en shock, corría de regreso en sentido al peligro, hacia los gases y los chepos enloquecidos que repartían toletazos y lanzaban piedras en medio de una nube blanca provocada por las lacrimógenas y los chorros de agua, la gente nos pasaba de lado corriendo, hacés pequeños intentos por ser solidaria pero vos también querés salvarte, y el humo te ahoga, “mamá, mamá, dónde está mi mamá, mi hermanito, se lo llevaron en aquel carro”, señalaba hacia un punto donde ya no había ningún carro. Entre el humo y la gente corriendo apareció la mamá, “ella es, ¡mamá!”, gritaba el niño, “mamá, se llevaron a mi hermanito en aquel carro”, él se desvaneció y un muchacho delgado le ofrecía al niño, que era grande y gordito, ¿te cargo?, yo te llevo, salgamos de acá, gritaban otros, la mamá se desmayó en ese momento, le echábamos agua en la cabeza, hasta un policía municipal le echaba aire, los compas intentaban levantarla. Era una escena desgarradora, yo intentaba torpemente hacer algo, le decía al niño que se calmara y que avanzáramos pero todos dábamos gritos, órdenes, intentos de hacer algo. En eso traían a la abuela Yolanda, me fui con ella, y ella conmigo, debo de haber pensado que ella me salvaría y que yo podía cuidarla a ella que no podría correr, o nos darían refugio, mezquindad, solidaridad, quién sabe qué es en esos minutos de la vida que se hacen eternos, los compas respondían a los chepos con gritos, con una que otra piedra de regreso, y no paraban, no dejaban de lanzar bombas y correr tras nosotros, para qué, ya habían desalojado el plantón.

Questions without answers:

—So what about the women murdered for the grave crime of being women? Will the fact that they have demanded that the attacks stop and, with their blood, raised the topic not just to the national agenda but the global one, make them the object of mockery, disdain, and accusations that they are playing to the right? Because they aren’t dying, they are being killed. What if they refuse to accept that this is a problem that can be solved by addressing corruption? And if they dare to say that the origin of this murderous hate is located in the system itself? What if they come up with the crazy idea to sideline men with regard to the most vital decisions (yes, as in questions of life of death)? And if they decide to take their destiny into their own hands? Would any part of that, or all of it, be a governmental maneuver to avoid… etcetera?

—What about the others (loas otroas)? Must they wait for the political class to turn its haughty gaze on one of the most vilified peoples below? Must they resign themselves to be knocked off until the murder rate finally gets high enough to attract attention? And what if they organize themselves and demand respect, if they decide they’ve had enough of the fact that being disrespected means being killed? Would they be told that their problems are not a priority, that their position is not generally politically correct and is in fact counterproductive with regard to the electoral race, and that their demands should unite and not detract?
