[Video] Before the pandemia, let’s care for our food with organic fertilizers
This video was created collectively by a group of youngsters from the Community Government of Chilón, Chiapas, Mexico, in their Agroecovisual Course for Autonomy that is supported by PVIFS, CEDIAC, Canan Lum and the Bachajón Mission.
The Covid-19 pandemic that is sweeping the world today, became known in these mountainous territories of northern Chiapas, when these youngsters were already embracing Mother Earth through putting ancient and agro-ecological agricultural practices into action.
That the youth of the Community Government of Chilón, its authorities and communities are autonomously working the land and practicing their own forms of government, while legally demanding their right to autonomy and self-determination, is an act worth knowing, spreading and supporting.
In times of a pandemic, autonomy in healthy food production and growing our own food without pesticides, is something that these peoples and many others in resistance are practicing as a real and concrete alternative to what the capitalist food industry “offers” us. This goes hand in hand with establishing de facto political autonomy.
