Nuevo Juan de Grijalva is the dearest project of the Chiapas Government and promoted as the first sustainable rural city of the world and the solution to poverty. However, since it was inaugurated its residents have denounced that there are no jobs, the “sustainable” projects don’t work, electricity rates are exorbitant, the clinic doesn’t work, and, in general, they live a desperate situation. The city was built after a supposedly natural accident that destroyed homes and lands when the Grijalva river burst its bank. The Chiapas government committed to compensate the people for the damages to their lands and homes, but it never did. Now a large work is underway by the Federal Electric Commission, which will affect large extensions of land. Once again, the government committed to idemnify the residents for the destruction of their lands, but it never did. Without other alternatives, the residents of Nuevo Juan de Grijalva organized a demonstration. Instead of complying with its promises, the government’s answer was the illegal detention of of the demonstrators, with an outburst of arbitrariness and injustice typical of the authoritarian and arrogant ways of the governor Juan Sabines Guerrero. After a long struggle and the intervention of human rights organizations and even the United Nations, the prisoners were freed. In a visit with the Free Media Network of Chiapas, we spoke with some of them, who shared with us their experience.

Quizás la indiferencia de tanta muerte, quizás porque sólo son estadísticas o cifras, quizás porque así son las autoridades del gobierno de Veracruz y de Orizaba y consideran que la muerte de dos trabajadoras sexuales no importan, que no tienen el carácter humano, ni mucho menos si son adherentes a la Sexta Declaración de la Selva Lacandona, pertenecen al Colectivo Feminista Cihuatlatolli y a la Red Mexicana de Trabajo Sexual

El 29 de junio de 2011 nuestra compañera Rafaela Navarro fue degollada en el hotel “Los Pascuales”. Once días después, nuestra compañera Fabiola Orozco Isouza, de 23 años y con un embarazo de 8 meses, fue estrangulada en el hotel  “El paredón”. Las autoridades no dan respuesta, se mantienen insensibles ante los asesinatos de dos mujeres. Los dos hoteles, por ejemplo, donde se perpetraron los crímenes se mantienen aún abiertos, sin investigación alguna.

Existe miedo entre las trabajadoras sexuales, pues se teme que la lamentable ola de feminicidios llegue a Orizaba, más aún, con la indiferencia de las autoridades o su complicidad ante estos crímenes, ya no se sienten seguras. Ahí está, lo que vale la vida de las mujeres para las autoridades del estado de Veracruz y de la ciudad de Orizaba.

La Red Contra la Represión y por la Solidaridad protesta enérgicamente contra el asesinato de nuestras compañeras Rafaela Navarro y Fabiola Orozco. Estas muertes son agresiones contra La Otra Campaña. Pedimos mantenernos atentos, difundir la información sobre estos crímenes, realizar pronunciamientos, y a preparar y a mantener nuestra solidaridad.

Denuncian bases zapatistas despojos de tierra y agresiones cometidos por Orcao

La junta de La Garrucha responsabiliza de estas acciones a José Peñate Gómez, Osmar, Pedro López García, Marcos Hernández Morales, José Alfredo Peñate Gómez y Miguel Centeno Gutiérrez (Guadalupe Victoria), así como a Adolfo Ruiz Gutiérrez, Domingo Gutiérrez Ruiz, Bersaín, Miguel y Baldemar Gutiérrez Gómez, Jerónimo, Andrés y Eliseo Gutiérrez Pérez (Po’jcol), y Fidelino Gómez Morales, Carmelino Ruiz Guillén, Fidelino Gómez Lorenzo y Marcos Gómez Morales (Las Conchitas).

La JBG demanda que los orcaístas, asesorados por los tres niveles de gobierno, desocupen las tierras recuperadas después de 1994. Son nuestras y las vamos a defender cueste lo que nos cueste, sostiene. Estamos hasta la madre de las provocaciones. La JGB exige al presidente de Orcao, Antonio Juárez Cruz, que su gente desocupe la tierra de las bases de apoyo de Nuevo Paraíso y, a los invasores, que saquen láminas y madera que trajeron de su tierra, y que devuelvan la madera robada. En caso contrario, si suceden graves problemas responsabilizamos directamente al gobierno y a la directiva de Orcao.

Otro caso donde los gobiernos federal, estatal y municipal asesoran a los dirigentes de Orcao para invadir tierras recuperadas por el EZLN, es el poblado Nuevo Rosario, en el municipio autónomo San Manuel. Allí los invasores están tumbando muchos árboles para vender leña en Ocosingo. La JBG responsabiliza a la directiva de los cafetaleros oficialistas por rentar indebidamente la tierra recuperada al ganadero Alejandro Alcázar, de San Cristóbal de las Casas.

Esto ha provocado destrozos en milpas del municipio zapatista San Manuel, debido al corte de los alambrados para que penetre el ganado. También han sido afectadas ocho familias que no pertenecen a ninguna organización, habitantes del mismo Nuevo Rosario.

Comunicado urgente

Por medio del presente escrito informamos a todas y todos las y los compañeras y compañeros del mundo que hayer, el 6 de julio 2011, después de tantas movilizaciones, ha dado fruto, gracias a todas y todos los que hicieron todo lo posible para que las movilizaciones y manifestaciones hayan dado su primer fruto, ya que fue liberado el menor Mariano Demeza Silvano, recluido en el Centro de Readaptación Social Villa Crisol Tuxtla Gtz., Chiapas. Aunque no en total libertad. Pero el gobierno de Juan Sabines Guerero le dio la livertad después de 5 meses de ser secuestrado sin delito alguno. Preso político que su único delito fue alzar la voz por defender su tierra y su autonomía. Esperamos que los demás compañeros estén pendientes porque todavía hay 4 compañeros más que siguen injustamente detenidos que el mal gobierno lo ha tomado como carnada para sus intereses neoliberales. A los compañeros y las compañeras del movimiento Por Justicia del Barrio de Nueva York les agradecemos su gran solidaridad por este gran apoyo para que sigan realizando sus manifestaciones para exigir la liberación de los 4 compañeros más recluidos en el Centro de Readaptación número 17 Playas de Catazajá, Chiapas.

7 de julio tarde Ante rápida acción de alerta en las redes de organizaciones sociales y de derechos humanos, medios libres, colectivos y personas dignas y solidarias con la Radio Ñomndaa y la lucha del Pueblo Amuzgo y ante la comunidad que sostiene esa digna lucha y Después de hostigar en Xochistlahuaca desde aproximadamente las 10:30 am:

– Los militares se retiraron de Xochistlahuaca mas o menos a las 14:00 hrs. Últimas noticias.

7 julio mañana. El Centro de Derechos Humanos de la Montaña de Tlachinollan alerta de una incursión militar en Xochistlauaca, en la comunidad de Sulj’aa, desde donde reportan lxs compañerxs de Radio Ñomndaa. Los militares llegaron en tres carros y han preguntado por la ubicación de la radio. Esto empezó a suceder desde las 10 de la mañana del día de hoy 7 de julio de 2011. Llaman a estar atentxs.

Los hechos suceden justo después de que hoy Radio Ñomndaa reinició transmisiones tras un mes sin estar al aire por problemas técnicos.

Jaltenango is the fourth “sustainable rural city” of Chiapas, currently under construction, in the coffee-growing region of La Frailesca. The Canadian journalist Dawn Paley visited the site of the future rural city, where ejidatarios from Nueva Colombia, affected by the rains in September 2010, have been living for the past 10 months in a sports complex in very precarious conditions of overpopulation and lack of basic hygiene conditions. The state government promised them homes in the new rural city, but up to now the only thing that’s been built is an impressive entrance; at the same time, they are not allowed to go back to live on their lands. In an interview with Radio Zapatista, Dawn Paley describes de situation.
