Preso injustamente Roberto Paciencia Cruz cautivo en el penal num. 05 de san Cristóbal de las Casas, Chiapas a causa de la injusticia que me ha llevado a estar 2 años con 7 meses privado de mi libertad a pesar de la minuta de trabajo que se hizo con los solidarios de la voz del Amate con funcionarios de gobierno el pasado 8 de febrero. Se comprometieron a liberarme, ya pasaron 3 semanas, sin respuesta. Cada dia esta empeorando mi visualidad por los golpes de la tortura que sufrí en las oficinas de FECDO, el pasado 7 de agosto de 2013.

Es por eso que exijo al gobernador Manuel Velasco Coello mi libertad lo mas pronto posible. Como tambien la libertad del compañero Alejandro Diaz Santis que se encuentra enel CEFERESO num. 15 de Villa Comatitlán que lleva 16 años, con 6 meses recluido sin delito.

Por último invito a todas las organizaciones independientes locales, nacionales e internacionales a seguir reclamando justicia y las libertades de todos_as los_as presos-as injustamente del país.

Nosotras, personas que intentamos escuchar todas las voces que nos llegan desde abajo, queremos compartir con ustedes y ustedas lo siguiente.

Somos muy poquitas las que, desde este lado del charco, nos hacemos eco de la situación de nuestrxs compañeros, compañeras, hermanos y hermanas zapatistas. Ellas y ellos llevan tiempo diciéndonos que “en medio de todas esas acechanzas…, nos preparamos para lo peor, lo que está por venir…” Y lo expresan sin miedo porque confían en sus “compas”.

Recientemente nuestra compañera Mónica nos decía que, frente al juicio -entre la absolución y 44 años de petición fiscal-, ella también se preparaba “para lo peor (por si acaso)”.

En días pasados hemos dado a conocer ante los medios de comunicación la situación de desplazamiento forzado del que hemos sido víctimas las familias de Shulvó integrantes del Municipio Autónomo Vicente Guerrero, adherentes a la Sexta Declaración de la Selva Lacandona, municipio oficial de Zinacantán. Así como hemos hecho pública nuestra exigencia de retorno inmediato a nuestra comunidad.

Hoy 28 del mes de febrero es la fecha que fue acordada entre las partes y con los delegados de gobierno y la iglesia católica, para la búsqueda de solución del problema, que conduzca al cumplimiento de nuestras tres demandas: el retorno inmediato a nuestra comunidad, la reparación de los daños causados por el desplazamiento forzado y el castigo a los responsables materiales e intelectuales de esos hechos.

First: That the serious crisis that shakes the entire world, and that will only worsen, puts the survival of the planet and the entire population, including human beings, at risk.

Second: That politics from above is not only incapable of coming up with and constructing solutions, but is also among those directly responsible for the catastrophe already underway.

Third: That the sciences and the arts rescue the best of humanity.

Fourth: That the sciences and the arts now represent the only serious opportunity for the construction of a more just and rational world.

Fifth: That the originary peoples and those who live, resist, and struggle in the basements of the entire world possess, among other things, a fundamental wisdom: that of survival in adverse conditions.

Sixth: That Zapatismo continues betting, in life and death, on Humanity.

Las organizaciones que conformamos la Red Nacional de Resistencia Civil, nuevamente denunciamos el hostigamiento judicial que sigue realizando la CFE Y PGR en contra de nuestr@s compañer@s, Jose Alberto Villafuerte Garcia y Estefania Villafuerte, del municipio de Candelaria, Campeche en contra de quienes el ministerio publico de la ciudad de Escarcega, ha solicitado a un juzgado federal de Campeche que les gire ordenes de aprehensión por el supuesto delito de robo de fluido eléctrico.

Nosotr@s aclaramos que, de ninguna manera, estamos robando luz en nuestro movimiento sino que estamos protestando contra las políticas y leyes injustas en materia energética que favorecen el enriquecimiento de las grandes empresas trasnacionales y el empobrecimiento de la enorme mayoría del pueblo mexicano además de despojarnos de nuestros territorios.

Exigimos unas tarifas justas de luz, exigimos que el acceso a la energía eléctrica sea reconocido constitucionalmente como un derecho humano, exigimos que se eche abajo la reforma energética y que la generación y distribución de la energía eléctrica sea de l@s mexican@s para l@s mexican@s, exigimos el respeto a nuestros territorios y a nuestros derechos.

I’m happy to hear that the rest of your family bajo protesta[i] are well, and I appreciate your serving as messenger to send them our greetings and gifts (although I continue to think that ties, ashtrays, and vases would have been a better choice).

As I picked up my pen to continue this conversation with you, I remembered your text “Speech on the rain” (Almadía Press, 2013), written, I believe, for the stage, which I read imagining, clumsily I’m sure, the set and the gestures and movements of the actor delivering the monologue, feeling the intervention more than witnessing it. The beginning, for example, is a summary of my life: the laconic “I lost my papers!” of the first line would make for an encyclopedia if I anchor it in the calendars and geographies of this continual lapse and relapse that I have been.

El día de ayer, 25 de febrero, le fue levantado el castigo de 15 días sin visitas que, junto a otros dos presos, se le había impuesto al compañero Luis Fernando Sotelo.

El argumento que las autoridades utilizaron para castigar a Luis fue que él, junto con otros presos, estaba organizando un motín; lo que el compañero hizo fue negarse a ser parte de la realidad carcelaria, una realidad en la que debes pagar las extorsiones diarias por parte de custodios o de otros presos, en donde la ley del más fuerte es la que rige. Una realidad que intenta convertir al preso en el peor enemigo de otro preso.

Luis se negó a ser parte de eso y por eso le castigaron.

El compañero se encuentra bien, con el ánimo fuerte y la dignidad intacta.

A los 62 días de haber recuperado nuestra madre tierra, siendo a las 12:40 pm, pasó una camioneta doble cabina Cheyenne color blanca con placas de circulación DSF-73-24, llevando consigo 6 personas dentro del vehículo, usando chalecos antibalas llevando armas de alto poder, en los predios recuperados del municipio de Venustiano Carranza Chiapas, mandados por los propietarios Rodrigo Ruiz, Francisco Ruiz, Octavín Albores, y apoyados por algunos pequeños propietarios, con toda la intención de intimidarnos a las compañeras y compañeros, jóvenes y niños de San Isidro los Laureles y comunidades, y que denunciamos lo siguiente.

You are simply the sink where the genocidaires go to wash their hands and together you have converted the judicial system into a poorly built and clogged latrine, the national flag in a reusable roll of toilet paper, and the national shield into a logo made of undigested fast food. Everything else is pure theater in order to simulate justice where there is only impunity and shamelessness, feigning “institutional government” where there is nothing more than dispossession and repression.

P.S. So, does this mean the Tampiqueño[ii] is now free to leave community and go for some stuffed crabs? He’ll have to pick up the tab, of course, otherwise forget it. So he is free now to do what any other Mexican can do? That is, now he’s free to be exploited, mocked, defrauded, humiliated, disrespected, spied on, extorted, kidnapped, murdered, disappeared, and to suffer all those insults to his intelligence from those who say they govern this country? I mean, I’m asking because this is the only thing the “institutions” guarantee any citizen in this country who isn’t above.

[i] This communiqué is a response by the EZLN to the recent pronouncement by the Federal Judiciary Council of Mexico that concluded that the warrant out for the arrest of (then) Subcomandante Insurgente Marcos for actions stemming from the uprising of January 1, 1994, had expired (“se prescribe” in Spanish), due to the fact that 20 years exceeds the statute of limitations on the crimes for which he was accused. (The charges were terrorism, sedition, mutiny, rebellion, and conspiracy). The EZLN here plays with the double meaning of “prescribirse” (expire and prescribe). The Mexican judiciary says his arrest warrant “se prescribe” (has expired) and the EZLN answers, “why don’t you “autoprescribirse” (self-prescribe)….this.”

[ii] “El Tampiqueño” is the name given by the EZLN to the person who the Mexican government claimed in 1995 was the man behind Subcomandante Insurgente Marcos.

Alejandro Reyes – Radio Zapatista

On December 20, 2015, the community of San Isidro Los Laureles recuperated 200 hectares of land that belonged to their ancestors, and where many of their grandparents worked in sugar cane plantations since the mid-twentieth century. In a visit to the recovered land, we spoke with some of the peasants from San Isidro, who explained the historic context and the meaning of the land recovery.
