La madrugada del pasado 28 de marzo apareció asesinado Juan Francisco Sicilia, hijo de Javier Sicilia, escritor y periodista, compañero de la Otra Campaña de Morelos. Apareció asesinado junto con cuatro jóvenes y dos adultos, en el interior de un auto abandonado en la carretera México-Acapulco, con heridas de bala en el cuerpo y amordazado.

El viernes Javier Sicilia dio su palabra en rueda de prensa: “Por la señora Wallace, por los anónimos, por los que no han podido tener respuesta, por nuestros hijos, por los que viven, por los que pueden ser víctimas mañana, por las mujeres asesinadas, por las mujeres de Chihuahua, por tantos crímenes… ¡vamos a salir a la calle a exigir a estos hijos de la chingada que le paren al crimen organizado, y a estos cabrones del gobierno que respondan!… hay que quitarnos el miedo, si estamos juntos no nos tocan. Yo vine aquí sin miedo, mi hijo estaba en las calles sin miedo, cada muchacho que estaba en las calles estaba sin miedo…”

En una plática sobre “La Guerra de Calderón”, realizada la semana pasada, Sergio Rodríguez Lazcano también hizo referencia al asesinato de Juan Francisco, hijo del compañero: “Lo que se sabe es que días atrás el joven, junto con unos amigos había hecho una denuncia anónima a los teléfonos que el ejército federal ha puesto a disposición de la población sobre la existencia del narcomenudeo en la zona. Todo ello evidencia la relación entre instituciones del estado mexicano y el crimen organizado. Evidencia al estado mexicano como fuente de todo crimen organizado… En la carta que el subcomandante Marcos envía a don Luis Villoro se desglosa de una manera muy detallada el presupuesto de Calderón para llevar a cabo su guerra contra la población mexicana siguiendo los designios del demandante vecino del norte. Es muy importante, porque aparte de todo una guerra ha de ser analizada por cuánto es su presupuesto”.

Y este presupuesto no sólo lo decide Calderón… lo decide también la clase política representada en el senado.

Las redes ciudadanas de Morelos están convocando a una marcha nacional el miércoles 6 de abril que saldrá a las 5:00 PM del monumento de la Paloma de la Paz para llegar hasta el Palacio de Gobierno, exigiendo justicia y paz.

Reunidos en París para una formación sindical dedicada al movimiento zapatista y a la Otra Campaña en Chiapas y en México, nosotr@s, adherentes de la Unión sindical Solidaires visionamos el documental realizado por los compañer@s de San Sebastián Bachajón sobre la represión que están viviendo.

En esta ocasión, y en el marco de los 5 días de acción mundial para los 5 de Bachajón, queremos manifestar nuestra entera solidaridad con los compañer@s arbitrariamente detenidos así como con su lucha contra el proyecto capitalista de « desarrollo » turístico. Bien sabemos que se trata de una estrategia gubernamentalpara seguir su guerra contra los derechos y la organización de nuestr@s companer@s.

Por estas razones

• rechazamos esta nueva denegación de derecho a la autonomía des las comunidades indígenas
• exigimos la liberación inmediata y sin condición de los 5 presos de Bachajón así como de todos los presos de la Otra Campaña
• pedimos el abandono del “mega-proyecto” turístico CIP Agua Azul – Palenque y de todos los proyectos capitalistas en Chiapas y en todo México que apuntan a despojar a los pueblos originarios de su territorio y sus derechos
• Reivindicamos el derecho de las comunidades indígenas a organizarse y a construir su autonomía en su territorio.

Aprovechando de esta ocasión mandamos un saludo solidario a los compañeros Maximo Mojica Delgado, Alberto Patishtan Gomez, Alvaro Sebastian Ramirez y Abraham Ramirez Vazquez,  encarcelados por su compromiso político y su adhesión a la Otra Campaña.

Exigimos también su liberación !

Message d’adhérents de l’Union syndicale Solidaires en France en solidarité avec les 5 prisonniers de Bachajón au Mexique.

Paris, le 1er avril 2011

Réunis à Paris pour un stage syndical consacré au mouvement zapatiste et à L’Autre Campagne au Chiapas et au Mexique, nous, adhérents de l’Union syndicale Solidaires avons visionné le documentaire vidéos réalisé par les compañer@sde San Sebastián Bachajón sur la répression qu’ils & elles subissent.

À cette occasion et dans le cadre des 5 jours d’action mondiale pour les 5 de Bachajón, nous tenons à manifester notre entière solidarité avec les compas arbitrairement détenus ainsi qu’avec leur lutte contre le projet capitaliste de « développement » touristique. Nous savons bien qu’il s’agit d’une stratégie gouvernementale pour poursuivre sa guerre contre les droits et l’organisation de nos compañer@s.

C’est pour ces raisons que :

• nous refusons ce nouveau déni de droit à l’autonomie des communautés indigènes
• nous exigeons la libération immédiate et sans condition des 5 prisonniers de Bachajón ainsi que de tous les prisonniers de l’Autre Campagne.
• nous demandons l’abandon du « méga-projet » touristique CIP Agua Azul – Palenque et de tous les projets capitalistes au Chiapas et dans tout le Mexique qui visent à dépouiller les peuples originaires de leur territoire et de leurs droits.
• nous revendiquons le droit des communautés indigènes à s’organiser et à construire leur autonomie dans leur territoire

Nous profitons de cette occasion pour envoyer un salut solidaire aux compañeros Maximo Mojica Delgado, Alberto Patishtan Gomez, Alvaro Sebastian Ramirez et Abraham Ramirez Vazquez, emprisonnés pour leur engagement politique et leur adhésion à l’Autre Campagne.

Libertad para los 5 presos politicos de San Sebastian Bachajon!!

Desde Italia también respondemos al llamado del Movimiento por Justicia del Barrio de Nueva York (EE.UU.), adherente a la Otra Campaña. Un llamado a unir todos y todas,  adentro de “5 Días de Acción Mundo por los 5 de Bachajón”, por qué sean inmediatamente puestos en libertad y que se haga justicia.

Y lo hicimos en diferentes ciudades en este día del 2 de abril, adentro de todas las manifestaciónes en contra de la guerra y en contra la cultura de la guerra, en todas sus formas, incluida la que sufren en México los y las adherentes a la Otra Campaña que luchan por sus derechos y su tierra, sufriendo continuos ataques por parte de todos los niveles del mal gobierno y de los grupos paramilitares.

Hasta que no haya seguridad que los gobiernos federal y estatal dejará de obedecer a las órdenes de las multinacionales, la comunidad de San Sebastián Bachajón defenderà  la tierra y las fuentes de la energía, para protegerles de la destrucción y los desequilibrios ecológicos producidos por las multinacionales de todo el mundo .

“Estamos presos unicamente en cambio de nuestras tierras”, denuncian los compañeros detenidos ilegalmente. Denuncian que funcionarios del gobierno han presionado  l@s presos, adentro de la prisón, para que acepten un diálogo que debería concluirse con la apropiación del territorio que lleva a las cascadas de Agua Azul por el gobierno.  En el mentre la comunidad de Bachajón fue reprimida duramente durante las protestas.

Gracias a las protestas y manifestaciones de solidaridad y al trabajo constante de difusión de los medios  nacionales e internacionales independiente, autónomo y libre  , muchos de los presos políticos de S. Sebastián Bachajón han sido liberados, sólo cinco siguen presos.

Por esta razón seguimos con las movilizaciones junto con muchos y muchas en todo el mundo, con el fin de exigir al gobierno represivo de Chiapas, dirigido por Juan Sabines Guerrero, la liberación de los cinco de Bachajón y cualquier y todos y todas l@s pres@s políticos.

Libertà per i cinque prigionieri politici di San Sabestian Bachajon!!

Anche dall’Italia rispondiamo all’appello del Movimento per la Giustizia del Barrio di New York (USA), aderente alla Otra Campaña. Un appello ad unirci, tutte e tutti, in 5 giorni di azione a livello mondiale per i 5 di Bachajon, perché vengano immediatamente messi in libertà e perché sia fatta giustizia.

E lo abbiamo fatto in questa giornata del 2 aprile, all’interno delle manifestazioni CONTRO LA GUERRA E CONTRO LA CULTURA DELLA GUERRA, in tutte le sue forme, anche quella che stanno subendo in Messico gli aderenti alla Otra Campaña che si battono per i loro diritti e la loro terra, subendo attacchi continui da parte di tutti i livelli del mal governo e delle bande paramilitari.

Finchè non ci sarà la garanzia che i governi federali e statali smetteranno d’obbedire agli ordini delle multinazionali, la comunità di San Sebastian Bachajon difenderà la terra e le fonti d’energia, proteggendole dalla distruzione e dai disequilibri ecologici prodotti dalle multinazionali ovunque nel mondo.

“Ci tengono prigionieri unicamente in cambio delle nostre terre”, hanno denunciato i compagni illegalmente arrestati. Denunciano il fatto che rappresentanti governativi hanno fatto pressione  in prigione  per fargli accettare un “dialogo” che si sarebbe dovuto concludere con l’appropriazione del territorio che porta alle cascate di Agua Azul da parte del governo. Nel  frattempo la comunità di Bachajon veniva duramente repressa durante le proteste.

Grazie alle mobilitazioni e alle dimostrazioni di solidarietà nazionali e internazionali  e al lavoro sempre costante dei mezzi di diffusione indipendenti, autonomi e liberi, molti dei prigionieri politici di S. Sebastián Bachajón sono stati liberati, solo in 5 rimangono ancora prigionieri.

Per questo continuiamo le mobilitazioni insieme a tante e tanti ovunque nel mondo, al fine di esigere dal governo repressivo del Chiapas, guidato da Juan Sabines Guerrero la liberazione dei cinque di Bachajon e di tutte e tutti prigionieri politici.

The past February the 3rd, 117 indigenous tseltal peasants (ejidatarios) from San Sebastián Bachajón, municipality of Chilón, in Chiapas, Mexico, were detained in an arbitrary manner.

The detained people, which are adherent to ‘La Otra Campaña’ said that, among the several irregularities in their legal process, they were not provided with a defendant lawyer or qualified translation to their mother language. Also, they were threatened by the local police and harassed by the Public Ministry personnel.
The detention of the peasants occurred near to the entry to ‘Cascadas de Agua Azul’ while they were on a meeting discussing their response to the local government about the offering of a dialogue round-table between the involved parts. The local police performed massive detentions, and went after the people who looked for safe in the houses of the neighbourhood.

The next day, February the 4th, the interrogation and the discharge of evidence started, the sodium rodizonate test was performed to the detainees, they were forced to give samples of urine to perform toxicological tests, and the peasants referred that during all the process they were not assisted by a lawyer or a qualified translator according their own culture and language.

Their testimonials refer that during their declarations at the Ministry of Justice, they were threatened by the police and harassed by the employees of the State Ministry.

According to sources, in February the 5th at approximately 02:00 hours, the local Ministry of Justice of the State of Chiapas freed 107 peasants and, at 20:00 hours, ten people were consigned –among them one underage boy- to the Penal Court ‘Playas de Catazajá’, and then sent to the state prison Centro Estatal para la Reinserción Social de Sentenciados No. 17 (CERSS No. 17) in the municipality of Playas de Catazajá, Chiapas, being accused of qualified homicide, attempt of homicide, attacks to the peace and to the corporal integrity and attacks to the State patrimony, all included in the penal file No 39/2011.

A few days later, 5 prisoners were freed, but 5 other peasants from ejido de San Sebastián Bachajón remained imprisoned.

Being conscious of the violation of the Human Rights of the peasants of San Sebastián Bachajón -adherents to ‘La Otra Campaña’- in their struggle for the preservation of their rights to territory and the right to be informed and consulted, we demand to the authorities of this country as well as to the Ministry of Justice the following:

1. The immediate freedom of Jerónimo Guzmán Méndez, Domingo Pérez Álvaro, Domingo García Gómez, Juan Aguilar Guzmán y Mariano Demeza Silvano.
2. A serious, exhaustive, and based-on-truth investigation of all the events that occurred in February the 2nd, and a sanction to the personnel in charge of the administration of justice in the state of Chiapas, who incurred in violations of the Human Rights.
3. The respect to the right to territory of the indigenous peoples, right which the peasants of San Sebastián Bachajón are vigorously working for.
4. The cease of the harassment and the aggressions towards the indigenous communities, grass-root social workers, and human rights defenders.
5. The respect to the human rights of persons and peoples.

Inspired by the call to action sent out by the dignified people of Movement for Justice en El Barrio, Montréal held two events that called for the liberation of the political prisoners still being detained for defending their land in San Sebastián Bachajón, Chiapas. First, on the 28th of March, we hosted an event with Juan and Maria from the Movement for Justice in El Barrio. At this event they presented us with two videos, one of their struggle in New York and then they screened the first video message from San Sebastián Bachajón made in collaboration with Movement for Justice in El Barrio. There were people there to listen with their hearts and see with their eyes the words of the people in San Sebastián Bachajón and inform themselves about their struggle for their land and against the bad government and its police forces. The people in the audience asked questions about the situation in Chiapas, particularly in Bachajón. Maria read out a message from women in Chiapas written for all women in struggle throughout the world, and the entire audience joined in the call in support of the women in struggle. At the end of the event, we gathered the names and contacts of people interested in coming together to watch the second video message from San Sebastián Bachajón and talk together about how we could continue to support the struggle of the people of Bachajón here in Canada.

In the morning of the 30 of March, we held a protest in front of the Mexican Consulate in Montréal. We made lots of noise with a megaphone, explaining to all passers why we were there, and explaining to them the situation in San Sebastián Bachajón. In making the call for the liberation of the 5 prisoners, we caught the attention of the police and the consulate. The police let us continue after speaking with us a bit and asking who the person responsible for the action was (nobody! everybody!) and the man they sent from the consulate took notes of our explanation of why we were there protesting. We passed out flyers with information to those passing in the streets, and many people asked us why we were protesting. The protest was successful in garnering attention for the prisoners and we think with we could hold another protest to put more pressure on the consulate here to call for the liberation of the prisoners in Bachajón, because defending their land is not a crime.

In the next days we are going to hold a meeting here in Montréal to see the second video message together and decide how we can continue to put pressure on the bad government of Mexico until they liberate the prisoners of Bachajón, who are being held under false charges. We are very inspired by the struggle of the people of Bachajón and we were touched by the voices and faces of the women and men in struggle for their land and waterfalls, and standing up for their dignity. Here in Montréal we recognize that an injustice to one is an injustice to all, and because of this we are going to continue the call for the liberation of the prisoners and for autonomous control of their territory by the people fo San Sebastián Bachajón.

Compañeros and compañeras: From the northern part of Chiapas, receive our greetings of solidarity and affection, compañeros and compañeras of New York and your allies.

On behalf of our organization, we want to thank everyone, from New York and other places, who is participating in the 5 Days of Action for the 5 Political Prisoners of San Sebastián Bachajón. We hope that you can realize this action in your own form of struggle. At present, we have little knowledge about the status of our 5 compañeros who were unjustly kidnapped by the bad, repressive government as a way of pressuring us into signing an agreement that would enable the government to takeover our lands. These lands are an inheritance left to us by our ancestors. The government has sought extensively the means to end our struggle – which is one of men and women who have the dignity to defend the little that we have: Our lands and their resources, which are, for us, an ancestral treasure. At the same time, we are filled with pride and happiness to know that you all are supporting us from New York in our struggles to defend our land and territory and to construct our just autonomy. On the other hand, however, we are filled with outrage to know that this bad governor Juan Sabines Guerrero, despite all the violence, has not cared about the lives of human beings like ourselves. We hope that the compas from Movement for Justice in El Barrio in New York can realize their activities on April 1 through the 5, since we are looking forward to them and also in the process of realizing our own action, for which at present we do not have an exact date. In thanks for your solidarity and the great support you are sending us in San Sebastian Bachajón, we send a cordial greeting to everyone.
