\/>\npor los libros y las letras-gu\u00eda.<\/p>\n<p>Mirar es una forma de preguntar, decimos nosotros, nosotras las zapatistas.<\/p>\n<p>O de buscar\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Cuando se mira en el calendario y en la geograf\u00eda, por muy lejos que est\u00e9n la una y el otro, se pregunta, se interroga.<\/p>\n<p>Y es en el mirar donde el otro, la otra, lo otro aparece.\u00a0 Y es en la  mirada donde eso otro existe, donde se dibuja su perfil como extra\u00f1o,  como ajeno, como enigma, como v\u00edctima, como juez y verdugo, como  enemigo\u2026 o como compa\u00f1er@.<\/p>\n<p>Es en la mirada donde el miedo anida, pero tambi\u00e9n donde puede nacer el respeto.<\/p>\n<p>Si no aprendemos a mirar el mirarse del otro, \u00bfqu\u00e9 sentido tiene nuestra mirada, nuestras preguntas?<\/p>\n<p>\u00bfQui\u00e9n eres?<\/p>\n<p>\u00bfCu\u00e1l es tu historia?<\/p>\n<p>\u00bfD\u00f3nde tus dolores?<\/p>\n<p>\u00bfCu\u00e1ndo tus esperanzas?<\/p>\n<p>Pero no s\u00f3lo importa qu\u00e9 o a qui\u00e9n se mira.\u00a0 Tambi\u00e9n, y sobre todo, importa desde d\u00f3nde se mira.<\/p>\n<p>Y elegir a d\u00f3nde mirar es tambi\u00e9n elegir desde d\u00f3nde.<\/p>\n<p>\u00bfO es lo mismo mirar desde arriba el dolor de quienes pierden a l@s  que quieren y necesitan, por la muerte absurda, inexplicable,  definitiva, que mirarlo desde abajo?<\/p>\n<p>Cuando alguien de arriba mira a los de abajo y se pregunta \u201c\u00bfcu\u00e1ntos son?\u201d, en realidad est\u00e1 preguntando \u201c\u00bfcu\u00e1nto valen?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Y si no valen, \u00bfqu\u00e9 importa cu\u00e1ntos son?\u00a0 Para obviar ese inoportuno  n\u00famero est\u00e1n los grandes medios de comunicaci\u00f3n de paga, los ej\u00e9rcitos,  las polic\u00edas, los jueces, las c\u00e1rceles, los cementerios.<\/p>\n<p>Y para el mirar nuestro, las respuestas nunca son sencillas.<\/p>\n<p>Al mirarnos mirar lo que miramos, nos damos una identidad que tiene  que ver con dolores y luchas, con nuestros calendarios y nuestra  geograf\u00eda.<\/p>\n<p>Nuestra fuerza, si es que alguna tenemos, est\u00e1 en este  reconocimiento: somos quienes somos, y hay otr@s que son quienes son, y  hay otro para quien todav\u00eda no tenemos palabra para nombrarlo y, sin  embargo, es quien es.\u00a0 Cuando decimos \u201cnosotros\u201d no estamos absorbiendo,  y as\u00ed subordinando, identidades, sino resaltando los puentes que hay  entre los diferentes dolores y las distintas rebeld\u00edas.\u00a0 Somos iguales  porque somos diferentes.<\/p>\n<p>En la Sexta, las zapatistas, los zapatistas, reiteramos nuestro  rechazo a todo intento de hegemon\u00eda, es decir, a todo vanguardismo, sea  que nos toque en la delantera o que nos alineen, como a los largo de  estos siglos, en la retaguardia.<\/p>\n<p>Si con la Sexta buscamos a nuestros semejantes en dolores y luchas,  sin importar los calendarios y las geograf\u00edas que nos distancien, es  porque sabemos bien que al Mand\u00f3n no se le vence con un solo  pensamiento, una sola fuerza, una sola directiva (por muy  revolucionaria, consecuente, radical, ingeniosa, numerosa, poderosa y  dem\u00e1s osas que esa directiva sea).<\/p>\n<p>Es ense\u00f1anza de nuestros muertos, que la diversidad y la diferencia  no son debilidad para el abajo, sino fuerza para parir, sobre las  cenizas del viejo, el mundo nuevo que queremos, que necesitamos, que  merecemos.<\/p>\n<p>Sabemos bien que ese mundo no es s\u00f3lo imaginado por nosotr@s.\u00a0 Pero  en nuestro sue\u00f1o, ese mundo no es uno, sino muchos, diferentes,  diversos.\u00a0 Y es en su diversidad donde tiene su riqueza.<\/p>\n<p>Los reiterados intentos de imponer la unanimidad, son los  responsables de que la m\u00e1quina haya enloquecido y acerque, cada minuto,  el minuto final de la civilizaci\u00f3n como es conocida hasta ahora.<\/p>\n<p>En la etapa actual de la globalizaci\u00f3n neoliberal, la homogeneidad no  es sino la mediocridad impuesta como uniforme universal.\u00a0 Y si en algo  se diferencia de la locura hitleriana, no es en su objetivo, sino en la  modernidad de los medios para conseguirlo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>-*-<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Y s\u00ed, no s\u00f3lo nosotras, nosotros, buscamos el c\u00f3mo, el cu\u00e1ndo, el d\u00f3nde, el qu\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Ustedes, por ejemplo, no son <em>Ellos<\/em>.\u00a0 Bueno, aunque no parecen tener ning\u00fan problema en aliarse con <em>Ellos<\/em> para\u2026 \u00bfenga\u00f1arlos y derrotarlos desde dentro?\u00a0 \u00bfpara ser como <em>Ellos<\/em> pero no tan <em>Ellos<\/em>?\u00a0 \u00bfpara menguar la velocidad de la m\u00e1quina, limar los colmillos de la bestia, humanizar a la salvaje?<\/p>\n<p>S\u00ed, lo sabemos.\u00a0 Hay una monta\u00f1a de argumentos para darle sustento a eso.\u00a0 Incluso hasta podr\u00edan forzar algunos ejemplos.<\/p>\n<p>Pero\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Ustedes nos dicen que somos iguales, que estamos en lo mismo, que es la misma lucha, el mismo enemigo\u2026\u00a0 Mmh\u2026 no, no dicen \u201c<em>enemigo<\/em>\u201c, dicen \u201c<em>adversario<\/em>\u201c.\u00a0 De acuerdo, eso tambi\u00e9n depende de la ocurrencia en turno.<\/p>\n<p>Ustedes nos dicen que hay que unirnos tod@s porque no hay otro  camino: o las elecciones o las armas.\u00a0 Y ustedes, que en ese argumento  falaz sostienen su proyecto de invalidar todo lo que no se supedite al  reiterado espect\u00e1culo de la pol\u00edtica de arriba, nos emplazan: mu\u00e9ranse o  r\u00edndanse.\u00a0 Y hasta nos ofrecen la coartada, porque, argumentan, como se  trata de tomar el Poder, s\u00f3lo hay esos dos caminos.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a1Ah!, y nosotros tan desobedientes: ni nos morimos, ni nos rendimos.\u00a0  Y, como qued\u00f3 demostrado el d\u00eda del fin del mundo: ni lucha electoral  ni lucha armada.<\/p>\n<p>\u00bfY si no se trata de tomar el Poder?\u00a0 Mejor a\u00fan: \u00bfy si el Poder ya no  reside en ese Estado Naci\u00f3n, ese Estado Zombi poblado de una clase  pol\u00edtica par\u00e1sita que practica la rapi\u00f1a sobre los restos de las  naciones?<\/p>\n<p>\u00bfY si los electores que tanto los obsesionan a ustedes (por eso su  embeleso con las multitudes), no hacen sino votar por alguien que otros  ya eligieron, como vuelta tras vuelta les demuestran <em>Ellos<\/em> mientras se divierten con cada nuevo truco que hacen?<\/p>\n<p>S\u00ed, claro, ustedes se esconden detr\u00e1s de sus prejuicios: \u00bflos que no votan? \u201c<em>es por apat\u00eda, por desinter\u00e9s, por falta de educaci\u00f3n, le hacen el juego a la derecha<\/em>\u201c\u2026 su aliada de ustedes en tantas geograf\u00edas, en no pocos calendarios.\u00a0 \u00bfVotan pero no por ustedes? \u201c<em>es por ser de derechas, por ignorantes, por vendidos, por traidores, por muertos de hambre, \u00a1por zombis!<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em> <\/em><strong>Nota de Marquitos Spoil:<\/strong><em> S\u00ed, nosotr@s  simpatizamos con los zombis.\u00a0 No s\u00f3lo por nuestra semejanza f\u00edsica (ni  maquillaje necesitamos y a\u00fan as\u00ed arrasar\u00edamos en los casting de \u201cThe  Walking Dead\u201d).\u00a0 Tambi\u00e9n y sobre todo porque pensamos, junto con George  A. Romero, que, en un apocalipsis zombi, la brutalidad m\u00e1s enloquecida  ser\u00eda obra de la civilizaci\u00f3n sobreviviente, no de los muertos que  caminan.\u00a0 Y si alg\u00fan vestigio de humanidad quedara, brillar\u00eda en los  parias de siempre, los muertos vivientes para los que el apocalipsis  empieza al nacer y nunca termina.\u00a0 Como ahora mismo sucede en cualquier  rinc\u00f3n de cualquiera de los mundos que existen.\u00a0 Y no hay pel\u00edcula, ni  comic, ni serie televisiva que d\u00e9 cuenta de ello.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Su mirada de ustedes est\u00e1 marcada por el desprecio cuando hacia abajo  miran (aunque sea al espejo), y de suspiros de envidia cuando miran  hacia arriba.<\/p>\n<p>No se pueden imaginar siquiera que alguien no tenga otro inter\u00e9s en  mirar ese \u201carriba\u201d, que no sea el de ver c\u00f3mo quit\u00e1rselo de encima.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>-*-<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Mirar.\u00a0 Hacia d\u00f3nde y desde d\u00f3nde.\u00a0 Ah\u00ed est\u00e1 lo que nos separa.<\/p>\n<p>Ustedes creen que son los \u00fanicos, nosotros sabemos que somos uno m\u00e1s.<\/p>\n<p>Ustedes miran arriba, nosotros abajo.<\/p>\n<p>Ustedes miran c\u00f3mo se acomodan, nosotros c\u00f3mo servimos.<\/p>\n<p>Ustedes miran c\u00f3mo dirigir, nosotros como acompa\u00f1ar.<\/p>\n<p>Ustedes miran cu\u00e1nto se gana, nosotros cu\u00e1nto se pierde.<\/p>\n<p>Ustedes miran lo que es, nosotros lo que puede ser.<\/p>\n<p>Ustedes miran n\u00fameros, nosotros personas.<\/p>\n<p>Ustedes calculan estad\u00edsticas, nosotros historias.<\/p>\n<p>Ustedes hablan, nosotros escuchamos.<\/p>\n<p>Ustedes miran c\u00f3mo se ven, nosotros miramos la mirada.<\/p>\n<p>Ustedes nos miran y nos reclaman d\u00f3nde est\u00e1bamos cuando su calendario marcaba <strong><em>sus<\/em><\/strong> urgencias \u201chist\u00f3ricas\u201d.\u00a0 Nosotros los miramos y no les preguntamos d\u00f3nde han estado durante estos m\u00e1s de 500 a\u00f1os de historia.<\/p>\n<p>Ustedes miran c\u00f3mo aprovechar la coyuntura, nosotros como crearla.<\/p>\n<p>Ustedes se preocupan por los vidrios rotos, nosotros por la rabia que los rompe.<\/p>\n<p>Ustedes miran los muchos, nosotros los pocos.<\/p>\n<p>Ustedes miran muros infranqueables, nosotros grietas.<\/p>\n<p>Ustedes miran posibilidades, nosotros lo que es imposible s\u00f3lo hasta la v\u00edspera.<\/p>\n<p>Ustedes buscan espejos, nosotros cristales.<\/p>\n<p>Ustedes y nosotros no somos lo mismo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>-*-<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ustedes miran el calendario de arriba y a \u00e9l supeditan la primavera  de las movilizaciones, las masas, la fiesta, la rebeld\u00eda multitudinaria,  las calles desbordando cantos y colores, consignas, desaf\u00edos, los que  ya son muchos m\u00e1s que s\u00f3lo ciento treinta y tantos, las plazas llenas,  las urnas ansiosas por llenarse de votos, y ustedes corren presurosos  porque es-claro-que les \u2013 falta \u2013 una \u2013 direcci\u00f3n \u2013  revolucionaria-partidaria-una-pol\u00edtica-de-alianzas-amplia-flexible-porque-lo-electoral-es-su-  destino-natural-pero-est\u00e1n-muy-chavit@s-son-fresas-<em>pequebus<\/em>-\u201dni\u00f1@s  bien\u201d- \/ -luego \u2013 lumpen \u2013 barrio \u2013 banda \u2013 prole \u2013 n\u00famero-de-votantes \u2013  potenciales-ignorantes-inexpertos-ingenuos \u2013 torpes \u2013 necios, sobre  todo necios.\u00a0 Y ven en cada acto masivo la culminaci\u00f3n de los tiempos.\u00a0 Y  despu\u00e9s, cuando ya no hay muchedumbres ansiosas de un l\u00edder, ni urnas,  ni fiestas, deciden que se acab\u00f3, que no m\u00e1s, que a ver si para otra  ocasi\u00f3n, que hay que esperar 6 a\u00f1os, 6 siglos, que hay que mirar para  otro lado, pero siempre para el calendario de arriba: el registro, las  alianzas, los puestos.<\/p>\n<p>Y nosotros, siempre con la mirada chueca, remontamos el calendario,  buscamos el invierno, nadamos r\u00edo arriba, pasamos por el arroyo,  llegamos al manantial.\u00a0 Ah\u00ed vemos a quienes comienzan, a los que son  pocos, a los menos.\u00a0 No los hablamos, no los saludamos, no les decimos  qu\u00e9 hacer, no les decimos qu\u00e9 no hacer.\u00a0 En cambio los escuchamos, los  vemos con respeto, con admiraci\u00f3n.\u00a0 Y ellas, ellos, tal vez nunca  reparen en esa peque\u00f1a flor roja, tan parecida a una estrella, tan  peque\u00f1a que apenas es una piedrita, y que nuestra mano deja abajo, cerca  de su pie izquierdo.\u00a0 No porque queramos decirles as\u00ed que la flor-roca  era nuestra, de las zapatistas, de los zapatistas.\u00a0 No para que esa  piedrita la tomen y la arrojen contra algo, contra alguien, aunque no  falten ganas ni motivos.\u00a0 Sino tal vez porque es nuestro modo de  decirles, a ell@s y a tod@s nuestr@s compas de la Sexta, que las casas y  los mundos empiezan a construirse con peque\u00f1os guijarros y luego se  crecen y casi nadie se acuerda de esos pedruscos que empiezan, tan  peque\u00f1os, tan poca cosa, tan in\u00fatiles, tan solos, y entonces viene una  zapatista, un zapatista, y la ve a la piedrita y la saluda y se sienta a  su lado y no hablan, porque las peque\u00f1as rocas, como los zapatistas, no  hablan\u2026 hasta que hablan, y luego el caso, o cosa, seg\u00fan, es que se  callen.\u00a0 Y no, no se callan nunca, lo que pasa es que luego no hay quien  escuche.\u00a0 O tal vez porque vimos m\u00e1s lejos en el calendario y sab\u00edamos,  antes, que esta noche llegar\u00eda.\u00a0 O tal vez porque as\u00ed les decimos,  aunque no lo sepan, pero lo sabemos nosotros, que no est\u00e1n sol@s.\u00a0  Porque es con l@s poc@s que las cosas inician y reinician.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>-*-<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ustedes no nos vieron antes\u2026 y siguen sin mirarnos.<\/p>\n<p>Y, sobre todo, no nos vieron mirarlos.<\/p>\n<p>No nos miraron vi\u00e9ndolos en su soberbia, est\u00fapidamente destruyendo  los puentes, socavando los caminos, ali\u00e1ndose con nuestros  perseguidores, despreci\u00e1ndonos.\u00a0 Convenci\u00e9ndose de que lo que no existe  en los medios simplemente no es.<\/p>\n<p>No nos vieron mir\u00e1ndolos decir y decirse que as\u00ed quedaban en tierra  firme, que lo posible es el terreno s\u00f3lido, que cortaban amarras de ese  absurdo barco de absurdos e imposibles, y que eran estos locos  (nosotros) quienes qued\u00e1bamos a la deriva, aislados, solos, sin rumbo,  pagando con nuestra existencia el ser consecuentes.<\/p>\n<p>Pudieron ver el resurgimiento como parte de sus victorias, y ahora lo rumian como una m\u00e1s de sus derrotas.<\/p>\n<p>Va, sigan su camino.<\/p>\n<p>No nos escuchen, no nos miren.<\/p>\n<p>Porque con la Sexta y con l@s zapatistas no se puede mirar ni escuchar impunemente.<\/p>\n<p>Y \u00e9sa es And it is in this gaze where the other exists, where they draw their profile as strange, as foreign, as enigma, as victim, as judge and executioner, as enemy\u2026or as compa\u00f1er@.<\/p>\n<p>The gaze is where fear dwells, but it is also where respect can be born.<\/p>\n<p>If we don\u2019t learn to see with the other\u2019s eyes, what sense can our own gaze have? Our questions?<\/p>\n<p>       Who are you?<\/p>\n<p>                   What is your story?<\/p>\n<p>                         Where is your pain?<\/p>\n<p>                                  When are your hopes?<\/p>\n<p>But it doesn\u2019t only matter at whom or at what you gaze. Also, and above all, it matters from where.<\/p>\n<p>And choosing where to look is also choosing from where one is looking.<\/p>\n<p>Or is it the same to see from above the pain of those who have lost those whom they love and need to senseless, inexplicable, and definitive death, as it is to see all this from below?<\/p>\n<p>When someone from above looks at those below and asks, \u201chow many?\u201d what they are really asking is \u201chow much are they worth?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And if they aren\u2019t worth anything, what does it matter how many there are? To obscure this inconvenient number, we have the commercial media, the armies, the police, the judges, the prisons, the cemeteries.<\/p>\n<p>And from our gaze, the answers are never simple.<\/p>\n<p>To look at ourselves looking at what we look at gives us an identity that has to do with suffering and struggle, with our calendar and our geography.<\/p>\n<p>Our strength, if we have one, is in this recognition: we are who we are, and there are others who are who they are, and others who we still don\u2019t have the words to name, and are nevertheless who they are. When we say \u201cwe\u201d we are not absorbing and, in doing so, subordinating identities, but rather emphasizing the bridges that exist between different sufferings and different rebellions. We are equal because we are different.<\/p>\n<p>In the Sixth, the Zapatistas, reiterate our rejection of any attempt at hegemony, that is, to say, any vanguardism, whether it places us at the forefront or alongside or, as over the course of these long centuries, at the rearguard.<\/p>\n<p>If with the Sixth we search for our kin in sorrows and struggles, regardless of the calendars and geographies that distance us, it is because we know well that that the Ruler cannot be defeated with only one way of thinking, one force, one leadership (however revolutionary, consequential, radical, clever, numerous, powerful, daring, etc. it may be).<\/p>\n<p>We have learned from our dead that diversity and difference are not a weakness for those below, but rather a strength from which to birth, from the ashes of the old, the new world that we want, that we need, that we deserve.<\/p>\n<p>We know well that we are not the only ones who imagine this world. But in our dream, this world is not one, but many different, diverse worlds. And in their diversity lies their strength.<\/p>\n<p>It is the repeated attempts to impose unanimity that have caused the machine to go mad and move closer, by the minute, to the final moment of this civilization as we have known it.<\/p>\n<p>In the current phase of neoliberal globalization, homogeneity is nothing other than mediocrity imposed as universal standard. And if it differs in any way from a Hitlerish madness, it is not in its objective but in the modernized means to achieve it.<\/p>\n<p>-*-<\/p>\n<p>And yes, we are not the only ones who look for the how, the when, the where, the what.<\/p>\n<p>You all, for example, are not Them. Well, although you don\u2019t seem to have any problem allying yourselves with Them in order to\u2026deceive and defeat them from within? To be like Them but not as much as Them? To slow the speed of the machine, to file down the fangs of the beast, to humanize the savage?<\/p>\n<p>Yes, we know. There are many arguments to sustain this line of thinking. In fact, you could even force a few examples.<\/p>\n<p>But\u2026<\/p>\n<p>You tell us that we are equal, that we are trying to do the same thing, that we are in the same struggle, the same enemy\u2026 Hmm\u2026no, actually you don\u2019t say \u201cenemy,\u201d you say \u201cadversary.\u201d Agreed, that also depends on the current context.<\/p>\n<p>You say that we must all unite because there is no other path forward: it is either elections or arms. And you, who sustain your project through this false argument to invalidate anything that does not submit to the repeated spectacle of the politics of above, summon us: die or surrender. And you even offer us an pretext, arguing that, since this is about taking Power, there are only these two paths.<\/p>\n<p>Ah! but we are so disobedient: we don\u2019t die, nor do we surrender. And, as was demonstrated on that day of the end of the world: neither electoral struggle nor armed struggle.<\/p>\n<p>And what if it is not about taking Power? And afterward, when there are no masses clamoring for a leader, nor ballot boxes, nor parties, you decide that it\u2019s over, no more, that maybe on another occasion, that we have to wait six years, six centuries, that we have to look elsewhere, but always to the calendar of above: party registration, political alliances, official posts.<\/p>\n<p>And we, always with our crooked gaze, go back to the calendar, look for winter, swim upstream, passing the creek, arriving at the source. There we see those who begin, the few, the least. We don\u2019t speak to them, we don\u2019t greet them, we don\u2019t tell them what to do, we don\u2019t tell them what not to do. Instead, we listen, we look at them with respect, with admiration. And they, perhaps never notice this little red flower, so similar to a star, so tiny that it is only a pebble, which our hand leaves below, near their left foot. Not because we want to say to them that that flower-stone belonged to us, the (las\/los) Zapatistas. Not so that they can take this pebble and throw it against something or someone, although there is not lack of desire or motive for that. But rather because maybe it is our way of telling them and all of our compas of the Sixth, that houses and worlds are built with tiny pebbles, and later they grow and almost no one remembers that what are now boulders began so tiny, as such small things, so useless, so alone. Along comes a (un\/una) Zapatista, and sees the pebble, and greets it, and sits by its side, but they don\u2019t talk, because the little stones, like the Zapatistas, don\u2019t speak\u2026until they speak, and then, as the case may be, become quiet. And no, they are never quiet, what happens is that sometimes there is no one to listen. Or perhaps it is because we looked far ahead in the calendar and we knew, before, that this night was coming. Or perhaps because in this way we tell them, although they don\u2019t know it, but we know, that they are not alone.
