Inspirados por la convocatoria internacional “5 Dias de Accion Mundial por los 5 de Bachajon” aqui en Canada estamos organizando una protesta para denunciar la brutal represi\u00f3n del gobierno mexicano al pueblo humilde de San Sebastian Bachaj\u00f3n, Chiapas, M\u00e9xico que resiste ante el control gubernamental sobre sus tierras. Nos juntaremos el d\u00eda m\u00edercoles 30 de Abril a las 11am para exigir al presidente represivo del partido PAN, Felipe Calder\u00f3n y al gobernador represivo del PRD Juan Sabines Guerrero que liberen a los 5 presos pol\u00edticos de San Sebasti\u00e1n Bachaj\u00f3n.<\/p>\n

Los compa\u00f1eros de Bachaj\u00f3n, adherentes de la Otra Campa\u00f1a de los Zapatistas, gestionaban la caseta de cobro y el dinero que cobraban a los turistas que van a disfrutar de la belleza de las cascadas de Agua Azul en su territorio. Ese dinero aporta a la salud y otros proyectos que ellos ven necesarios en sus comunidades. El gobierno mexicano quiere controlar esta zona tur\u00edstica y sus beneficios. Por eso est\u00e1 intentando robarles la tierra al pueblo humilde de Bachaj\u00f3n y desalojarles de su tierra y territorio. Por resistir este desplazamiento, m\u00e1s de 100 personas fueron detenidos en Febrero del 2011. De estas personas quedan 5 presos todav\u00eda.<\/p>\n

Exigimos a Juan Sabines Guerrero el cese inmediato de amenazas, actos intimidatorios y de agresion hacia la gente de San Sebasti\u00e1n Bachaj\u00f3n y la libertad de los presos pol\u00edticos. Tambi\u00e9n exigimos que les devuelen el control de la caseta de cobro a la gente a quienes les pertenece la tierra. Esta acci\u00f3n es parte de los 5 D\u00edas de Acci\u00f3n Mundial por los 5 de Bachaj\u00f3n, para mostrarles que no est\u00e1n s\u00f3los, que estamos con ellos aunque estemos lejos, y que su lucha es tambi\u00e9n nuestra lucha.<\/p>\n

Invitamos a todos y todas a salir masivamente para ense\u00f1ar nuestra solidaridad y apoyo al pueblo de San Sebasti\u00e1n Bachaj\u00f3n y exigir la libertad de los 5 compa\u00f1eros detenidos por defender su autonom\u00eda, su tierra y su territorio. \u00a1Defender la tierra no es delito! \u00a1Libertad a los 5 de Bachaj\u00f3n!<\/p>\n

\u201cThough you are far away, your actions for the incarcerated compa\u00f1eros are helping us. What you are doing makes us happy. Because you are supporting us. It is true that five compas were freed and that we do not only want five freed. We want all of them to be free.\u201d \u2013 Words from Amalia from the \u201cSecond Video Message from San Sebastian Bachaj\u00f3n\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Inspired by the international call to action “5 Days of Action for the Bachajon 5”, here in Canada we are organizing a protest to denounce the Mexican Government\u2019s brutal repression of the humble people of San Sebastian Bachaj\u00f3n, Chiapas, Mexico in resisting government control of their land.\u00a0 We will gather Wednesday morning at 11am to demand that the repressive PAN president Felipe Calder\u00f3n and the repressive PRD governor Juan Sabines Guerrero liberate the 5 political prisoners of San Sebastian\u00a0Bachaj\u00f3n.<\/p>\n

The people of Bachaj\u00f3n, adherents to the Zapatista\u2019s Other Campaign, have been making an income off of tollbooths that charge the tourists who come to enjoy the beauty of the waterfalls, los Aguas Azules, in their territory.\u00a0 This money helps the community to maintain its health, programs, and is distributed as they see fit amongst themselves.\u00a0 The Mexican Government wants to control this tourist location and its profits, and is attempting to seize this land from the humble people of Bachaj\u00f3n, and displace them from their land and territory.\u00a0 In resisting this displacement, over a hundred individuals were arrested in February of 2011.\u00a0 Out of these, five men have been detained and are still being held, while the rest have been freed.<\/p>\n

We call on Juan Sabines Guerrero to stop the threats, intimidation and atttacks on the people of San Sebastian Bachaj\u00f3n, and to free the political prisoners, and return control of the tollbooths to the people to whom the land belongs.\u00a0 This action is part of 5 Days of Worldwide Action for the Bachaj\u00f3n 5 to show them that they are not alone, that we are with them although we are far away, and that their struggle is also our struggle.<\/p>\n

Come out in great number to show your support for the people of San Sebastian Bachaj\u00f3n and to demand the freedom of the 5 men detained for defending their autonomy, land and territory.\u00a0 The defense of land is not a crime! Freedom for the Bachaj\u00f3n 5!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
