Comunicado P\u00fablico<\/strong><\/p>\n Comunidades Mapuche-Tehuelche \u00a0<\/strong>Nosotros, las comunidades Mapuche-Tehuelche: VUELTA DEL RIO (Cushamen), SANTA ROSA LELEKE (Cushamen), LOF CAYUN (Lago Puelo), LOF CA\u00d1IO (Buenos Aires Chico), LOF \u00d1IRIPIL (Buenos Aires Chico), \u00d1AMKULAWEN LOF (Comodoro Rivadavia), NEWEN MULFU\u00d1 (Pico Truncado), CALFU NAO (Trelew), nos solidarizamos con los familiares de Santiago Maldonado desaparecido en un contexto de represi\u00f3n a una comunidad mapuche, y exigimos su aparici\u00f3n con vida a todas las autoridades pol\u00edticas, judiciales y dem\u00e1s fuerza represivas responsables y c\u00f3mplices de que esta situaci\u00f3n haya llegado a las instancias actuales.<\/p>\n Nosotros, comunidades Mapuche-Tehuelche repudiamos en\u00e9rgicamente el accionar represivo del estado en sus distintas instancias, una vez m\u00e1s, en contra del Pueblo Mapuche, la criminalizaci\u00f3n de la protesta social y el nulo valor que la vida tiene para el gobierno. Somos conscientes que un hecho como este se puede repetir y que ninguno de nosotros est\u00e1 \u2013y nunca estuvo exento a sufrir el autoritarismo y arbitrariedad estatal. Ante esto nos preguntamos: \u00bfA cambio y en pos de qu\u00e9 intereses mezquinos y ego\u00edstas desaparece una persona? Nos preguntamos: \u00bfEn nombre y justificaci\u00f3n de qu\u00e9, como parte de los Pueblos Originarios de este pa\u00eds, tendr\u00edamos que aceptar que nos nieguen y atenten en contra de la defensa de nuestras vidas, de nuestros territorios y de nuestras subsistencias?<\/p>\n Para nosotros, que venimos resistiendo ancestralmente por existir desde el principio de los tiempos, los enga\u00f1os, la manipulaci\u00f3n, los hostigamientos por parte del estado –y sectores privados– y las persecuciones, forman parte de nuestra historia de vida colectiva. Nuestros papay<\/em>; lonko<\/em>; pillan kushe<\/em>; kuifikecheyem<\/em> (autoridades ancestrales) fueron avasallados y, desde entonces, se ha persistido en quitarnos toda posibilidad de autodeterminar nuestras vidas comunitarias. Hoy, cuando la historia da testimonio de que somos lo que el genocidio del estado dej\u00f3, nuestras memorias nos cuentan c\u00f3mo sobrevivimos y por qu\u00e9 a\u00fan estamos vivos. Entonces, porque esto ya nos pas\u00f3, hoy estamos con la familia de Santiago, los acompa\u00f1amos y nos solidarizamos con ellos.<\/p>\n Porque nosotros, Comunidades Mapuche-Tehuelche, nunca convalidaremos el silenciamiento, la desinformaci\u00f3n, la negligencia, el miedo, el agravio a la vida, las mentiras. Tambi\u00e9n decimos que esto es una prueba m\u00e1s del fracaso con el modo en que las autoridades vienen abordando la realidad que plantean las Comunidades Ind\u00edgenas. Tambi\u00e9n es el resultado de la falta hist\u00f3rica de pol\u00edticas de acceso a la tierra y al territorio, la falta de di\u00e1logo por parte de las autoridades municipales, provinciales y nacionales, ignorancia y falta de preparaci\u00f3n de funcionarios e interlocutores que el estado designa para tratar las cuestiones relativas a los Pueblos Originarios. The Argentine state has a long history of \u201cdisappearing\u201d people as a mechanism to suppress political opposition. During the event, in addition, authorities of the national security ministry were present. Santiago Maldonado disappeared during the Argentine National Gendarmerie violent repression to the Mapuche community [note of transl.: the forces entered homes and burned houses and belongings].<\/p>\n We the Mapuche-Tehuelche communities condemn the Argentine state repression to the Mapuche Nation, the criminalization of social protest, and the government\u2019s lack of respect for life. We are aware that this kind of episode could happen again and that none of us is \u2013and never was- exempt from suffering state authoritarianism and arbitrariness. We ask: What are the selfish interests behind the disappearance of an individual? In whose name and under what justification, should we as Indigenous people, have to accept the denial and infringement of our right to defend our lives and our territories and our subsistence?<\/p>\n Since the time of our ancestors we have been resisting in order to survive, and have been resisting the State –and private sectors’– deception, the manipulation, and the instigation. Prosecutions are part of the history of our collective life. Our papay<\/em>; lonko<\/em>; pillan kosher<\/em>; Kui-fike heyem<\/em> (ancestral authorities) have been subjugated and since then, there has been pressure to take away any possibility for self-determination of our communal lives. History reminds us we are the results of the state’s genocide conducted against us, our memory reminds us how we survived, and how we are still alive. Because this happened to us in the past, we are today with Santiago\u2019s family, we stand with them and in solidarity with them.<\/p>\n We, the Mapuche-Tehuelche communities, will not forget the silencing, misinformation, negligence, fear, the affront to life, and lies [note of transl.: that result from the history of colonial relations]. This event is another proof of the state authorities\u2019 failure in addressing the specificity of the situations that indigenous communities confront. This is another result of the historical lack of policies warrantying the access to land and territory, municipal, provincial, and national authorities lack of dialogue, and the lack of education among functionaries, and state officials that the state designates to deal with indigenous issues. It is also the result of a lack of understanding of the historical debt by the State towards First Nations. This debt has to be repaired with dialogue, equality, respect and State self-critique, and not with violence, repression, instigation, and discrimination. This disappearance is also the result of the negligence of state institutions such as the National Institute of Indigenous Affairs (INAI), as well as the Autonomous Institute of Colonization and Rural Development (IAC) and the Division of Indigenous affairs both of the province of Chubut, which play no role in implementing Constitutional, and International rights. This is also the result of the larger society\u2019s incapacity and lack of will to revise our collective history. \nTambi\u00e9n es la falta de comprensi\u00f3n de que existe una deuda hist\u00f3rica del Estado con los Pueblos Originarios que se debe reparar con di\u00e1logo, igualdad, respeto y autocr\u00edtica por parte del Estado, y no con violencia, represi\u00f3n, provocaciones y discriminaci\u00f3n. Es el resultado de instituciones ausentes como el Instituto Nacional de Asuntos Ind\u00edgenas (INAI), as\u00ed como tambi\u00e9n del Instituto Aut\u00e1rquico de Colonizaci\u00f3n y Fomento Rural (IAC) y de la Direcci\u00f3n de Asuntos Ind\u00edgenas de la provincia de Chubut que no ponen en vigencia nuestros Derechos consagrados en la Constituci\u00f3n Nacional y en los Tratados Internacionales. Y es el resultado, tambi\u00e9n, de la incapacidad y falta de voluntad que han demostrado amplios sectores de la sociedad para revisar nuestra propia historia colectiva y prefieren, en cambio, quedarse en el agravio y la descalificaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n
