cambiado<\/em>\u201d, as\u00ed dicen.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>En Chiapas, los ind\u00edgenas est\u00e1n igual o peor que antes del alzamiento zapatista<\/em>\u201d, reiteran los medios de paga cada que su caporal se los indica.<\/p>\n<p>Hace 23 a\u00f1os, de diversas partes del mundo lleg\u00f3 \u201cayuda humanitaria\u201d.\u00a0 Los ind\u00edgenas zapatistas entendimos entonces que no era limosna lo que nos mandaban, sino apoyo para resistencia y rebeld\u00eda.\u00a0 En lugar de zamparnos todo o venderlo, como hacen los partidistas, con esos apoyos fuimos levantando escuelas, hospitales, proyectos para la autogesti\u00f3n.\u00a0 Poco a poco y no sin problemas, dificultades y errores, construimos las bases materiales para nuestra libertad.<\/p>\n<p>Ayer hemos escuchado al Subcomandante Insurgente Mois\u00e9s decirnos que las comunidades ind\u00edgenas zapatistas se organizaron no para pedir ayuda, sino para apoyar a otra gente en otra tierra, con otra lengua y cultura, con otro rostro, con otro modo, para que resista.\u00a0 Nos ha platicado el proceso seguido para cumplir con eso.\u00a0 Cualquier que haya escuchado sus palabras puede decir, y no se equivocar\u00eda, que lo que se ve en ese largo camino que va del cafetal a este kilo de caf\u00e9 empacado, hay una constante: organizaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>Pero volvamos a 1994-1996.<\/p>\n<p>Conforme llegaban mujeres, hombres y <strong><em>otroas<\/em><\/strong> de diversos rincones del M\u00e9xico y del mundo, las zapatistas, los zapatistas entendimos que, en ese calendario, no era una geograf\u00eda espec\u00edfica la que nos tend\u00eda la mano y el coraz\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->No era la soberbia Europa la que se condol\u00eda de los pobres inditos a los que, in\u00fatilmente, hab\u00eda querido exterminar siglos antes.<\/p>\n<p>Fue la Europa de abajo, la rebelde, la que, sin importar su tama\u00f1o, lucha d\u00eda a d\u00eda.\u00a0 La que, con su apoyo, nos dec\u00eda \u201cno se rindan\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>No era el norte revuelto y brutal que es gobierno y Poder escondido detr\u00e1s de la bandera de las barras y las turbias estrellas quien, simulando humanidad, mandaba migajas.<\/p>\n<p>Fue la comunidad latina y anglo que defiende su cultura y modo, que resiste y lucha, que no se embrutece con la droga del \u201csue\u00f1o americano\u201d, la que nos apoy\u00f3 mientras murmuraba \u201cno se vendan\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>No era el M\u00e9xico partidista, el de la nomenclatura de todas las derrotas convertidas en puestos y cargos para los dirigentes y olvido para las bases, quien trataba de cobrar doble: cobrar la sangre de los nuestros y cobrarnos luego la limosna que trajeran.<\/p>\n<p>Fue el M\u00e9xico de abajo, el que se organiza sin importar si son muchos o pocos, si salen o no en las noticias, si los entrevistan o no los medios de paga; el que carga sus muertos, sus presos, sus desaparecidos no como un lamento sino como un compromiso.\u00a0 Ese M\u00e9xico fue quien se quit\u00f3 algo de lo poco que ten\u00eda para d\u00e1rnoslo mientras su mirada nos mandaba: \u201cno claudiquen\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>De \u00c1frica, Asia y Ocean\u00eda tambi\u00e9n lleg\u00f3 el aliento y la esperanza susurr\u00e1ndonos: \u201cresistan\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Y desde esos a\u00f1os primeros, nosotras, nosotros, zapatistas, entendimos que no nos dejaban una ayuda sino un compromiso, y desde ese calendario nos hemos esforzado por honrarlo.<\/p>\n<p>A\u00fan con todo en contra, acosados por el ej\u00e9rcito y paramilitares, difamados por los medios de paga, olvidados por todos quienes descubrieron que no sacar\u00edan provecho de nuestro dolor, a\u00fan as\u00ed, nos hemos empe\u00f1ado en honrar ese debe, todos los d\u00edas y en todas partes, no sin errores y fallas, no sin tropezones y ca\u00eddas, no sin muertes.<\/p>\n<p>Ese hombre, esa mujer, <em>esoa<\/em> <em>otroa<\/em>, que lucha en otros rincones del planeta, puede decir ahora que luch\u00f3 a nuestro lado.\u00a0 Y sin empacho puede dejarnos a nosotros, nosotras, los errores y atorones, y, con justicia, hacer suyos nuestros logros que, aunque peque\u00f1os, valen.<\/p>\n<p>Gracias a toda esa gente que fue y es compa\u00f1era tal vez sin saberlo, no somos lo mismo de hace 23 a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n<p>Hace dos d\u00e9cadas, cada que hablaban nuestros compa\u00f1eros y compa\u00f1eras, invariablemente terminaban sus palabras pidiendo disculpas por su manejo del espa\u00f1ol.<\/p>\n<p>Hoy, sin olvidar su lengua materna, cualquiera de nuestros j\u00f3venes y <strong><em>j\u00f3venas<\/em><\/strong>, con cari\u00f1o le corrigen la prosodia y la ortograf\u00eda a m\u00e1s de uno, una, <strong><em>unoa<\/em><\/strong> con grados universitarios.<\/p>\n<p>Hace dos d\u00e9cadas el EZLN era organizaci\u00f3n, referente y mando de las comunidades ind\u00edgenas.\u00a0 Hoy son ellas quienes mandan y nosotros, nosotras, quienes obedecemos.<\/p>\n<p>Antes las dirigimos y ordenamos, ahora nuestro trabajo es ver c\u00f3mo apoyamos sus decisiones.<\/p>\n<p>Antes \u00edbamos delante, marcando el rumbo y el destino.\u00a0 Hoy vamos detr\u00e1s de nuestros pueblos, no pocas veces corriendo detr\u00e1s de ellos para alcanzarlos.<\/p>\n<p>Hemos pasado a segundo plano.\u00a0 Habr\u00e1 quien piense que eso es un fracaso.<\/p>\n<p>Para nosotros, nosotras, es la buena cuenta que podemos darle a nuestros muertos, a nuestras muertas.\u00a0 Como a SupPedro, como a la compa\u00f1era Malena, quien falleci\u00f3 hace apenas unos d\u00edas, y de quien todav\u00eda no podemos hablarles sin que el dolor nos acalambre las manos y se humedezcan las palabras y la mirada.<\/p>\n<p>As\u00ed de grande era ella para nosotras, nosotros, zapatistas.<\/p>\n<p>Hemos llegado a estos d\u00edas y esta reuni\u00f3n con su muerte sobre los hombros y, aunque no expl\u00edcitamente, su voz ha tomado la nuestra.<\/p>\n<p>Hace un par de d\u00edas hemos querido saldar una deuda de honor con quienes hoy nos faltan y mucho.\u00a0 Hemos querido hacer nuestras las palabras que imaginamos suyas si aqu\u00ed estuvieran, a nuestro lado, como lo estuvieron toda su vida.<\/p>\n<p>Pero ahora debemos seguir, y hacerles saber a todos que nuestras comunidades, nuestros pueblos, han decidido que es el momento de recordarles a quienes creyeron y confiaron en nuestra bandera y modo, que aqu\u00ed estamos, que resistimos, que no nos rendimos, que no nos vendemos, que no claudicamos.<\/p>\n<p>Queremos que sepan que ahora pueden contar con nosotros, nosotras, con las comunidades zapatistas.\u00a0 Que aunque poco y a la distancia, les apoyaremos.<\/p>\n<p>Y tampoco ser\u00e1 nuestro apoyo una limosna.\u00a0 Tambi\u00e9n ser\u00e1 para ellos, ellas, <em>elloas<\/em>, ustedes, un compromiso.<\/p>\n<p>Porque esperamos que resistan hasta lo \u00faltimo.\u00a0 Esperamos que no se rindan, que no se vendan, que no claudiquen.<\/p>\n<p>Porque esperamos que a\u00fan en los momentos en que se sientan m\u00e1s solos, m\u00e1s derrotados, m\u00e1s olvidados, tengan en su dolor y su angustia al menos una certeza: la de que hay alguien que, aunque lejos y con el color de la tierra, les dice que no est\u00e1n solos, solas, <em>soloas<\/em>.\u00a0 Que su dolor no nos es ajeno.\u00a0 Que su lucha, su resistencia, su rebeld\u00eda, tambi\u00e9n es la nuestra.<\/p>\n<p>Les apoyaremos como es de por s\u00ed nuestro modo, es decir, un apoyo organizado.<\/p>\n<p>Y deben saber y tener bien claro, que en este apoyo va nuestro cari\u00f1o, nuestra admiraci\u00f3n, nuestro respeto.<\/p>\n<p>El empaque no lo dice, pero dentro va el trabajo de los hombres, mujeres, ni\u00f1os y ancianos zapatistas.<\/p>\n<p>Porque hace ya varios a\u00f1os que entendimos que nuestro anhelo no es local, ni nacional, es internacional.<\/p>\n<p>Entendimos que para nuestro empe\u00f1o las fronteras estorban.\u00a0 Que nuestra lucha es mundial.\u00a0 Que siempre lo ha sido, pero que no lo sab\u00edan quienes nos parieron y que fue hasta que la sangre ind\u00edgena tom\u00f3 el tim\u00f3n adem\u00e1s del motor, y marc\u00f3 el rumbo, que descubrimos que el dolor, la rabia y la rebeld\u00eda no tienen pasaporte y que son ilegales para el arriba, pero son hermanas para el abajo.<\/p>\n<p>Hoy podemos decirle \u201ccompa\u00f1ero\u201d, \u201ccompa\u00f1era\u201d, \u201c<strong><em>compa\u00f1eroa<\/em><\/strong>\u201d a cualquiera que resista, se rebele y luche en cualquier parte del planeta.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c9sa es la nueva geograf\u00eda que no exist\u00eda en aquel otro calendario.<\/p>\n<p>As\u00ed que reciban nuestro apoyo sin pena.<\/p>\n<p>Rec\u00edbanlo como lo que es, como un saludo.<\/p>\n<p>Con eso como pretexto sacudan al mundo, ara\u00f1en los muros, digan \u201cno\u201d, levanten el coraz\u00f3n y la mirada.<\/p>\n<p>Que si el poderoso no los ve ni los oye, en cambio los miran y los escuchan las zapatistas, los zapatistas que, aunque no somos grandes, venimos rodando desde siglos y sabemos bien que el ma\u00f1ana es parido como debe ser, es decir, abajo y a la izquierda.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>-*-<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>De individu@s y colectiv@s.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Hay muchas cosas que no podemos explicar.\u00a0 Sabemos que son as\u00ed, pero nuestro conocimiento es rudimentario y no podemos explicar por qu\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Ya ven, por ejemplo, que \u201clos cabezas grandes\u201d nos dicen que no sabemos marxismo (no s\u00e9 si eso es un defecto o una virtud), que somos una fantas\u00eda alargada en el tiempo por causas que no pueden explicar pero que son <strong><em>sospechosistas<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0 Como no es posible que un grupo de ind\u00edgenas piensen, quiere decir que es el hombre blanco o alguna fuerza oscura la que nos manipula y nos lleva a no s\u00e9 d\u00f3nde.<\/p>\n<p>Nuestro conocimiento, nos dicen, no es m\u00e1s que voluntarismo y buena suerte en el mejor de los casos, o simple manipulaci\u00f3n de alguna mente perversa en el peor.<\/p>\n<p>Pero no es que les preocupa si alguien nos manda y orienta.\u00a0 Lo que les molesta es que no sean ellos.\u00a0 Les incomoda que no obedezcamos, que la insumisi\u00f3n en estas tierras no sea una bandera sino ya una forma de vida.<\/p>\n<p>En resumen, les molesta e incomoda que seamos zapatistas.<\/p>\n<p>Y la misma incapacidad que nos suponen para la lucha, la extienden al conocimiento.<\/p>\n<p>Nos siguen viendo desde arriba.\u00a0 Desde sus amplios y lujosos barandales se asoman a mirarnos con burla, con l\u00e1stima, con desaprobaci\u00f3n.\u00a0 Y regresan luego a sus espaciosos camarotes a masturbarse pensando en su bonanza y bienestar.\u00a0 Excit\u00e1ndose al imaginar el dolor en el otro, la desesperaci\u00f3n en la otra, la angustia en <strong><em>loa<\/em><\/strong> <strong><em>otroa<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Porque ellos, van arriba del soberbio barco, navegan la gran finca flotante que recorre las geograf\u00edas y calendarios actuales.<\/p>\n<p>Pero si se vuelven a asomar y dirigen su mirada abajo y a la izquierda, con preocupaci\u00f3n m\u00e1s cerca nos miran.<\/p>\n<p>Pero no, no es que hayamos crecido para alcanzarlos.\u00a0 No es que nos estiremos para tratar de llegar a ser como ellos.<\/p>\n<p>No, nosotros, nosotras, no somos ellos.\u00a0 Y no queremos serlo.<\/p>\n<p>Si m\u00e1s cerca nos ven es, simple y sencillamente, porque su soberbio buque se hunde.\u00a0 Se hunde irremediablemente, y lo saben el finquero, los capataces y caporales, que ya tienen listas las barcas para abandonar el nav\u00edo cuando la cat\u00e1strofe sea tan evidente que nadie pueda negarla.<\/p>\n<p>Pero no me hagan caso.\u00a0 Ellos son los grandes estudiosos, los que manejan con habilidad las nuevas maravillas tecnol\u00f3gicas.\u00a0 Ellos son quienes pueden, con un golpe de dedo, encontrar justificaciones para su cinismo, su ruindad, su imbecilidad que, no por vestirse de ilustrada, deja de ser lo que es: una chambonada pedante y c\u00ednica.\u00a0 Ellos que, con ma\u00f1a, obvian los argumentos en contra que se encuentran ah\u00ed mismo, que trucan y editan palabras y hechos para acomodarlos a conveniencia.<\/p>\n<p>Y no les interesa siquiera corregirnos.\u00a0 S\u00f3lo quieren consolarse en su bajeza, en su soledad.\u00a0 Y se pretenden individuales, \u00fanicos, irrepetibles, pero no son m\u00e1s que una m\u00e1s de millones de moscas revoloteando en la mierda.<\/p>\n<p>Ellos que creen saber y no saben.\u00a0 Ellos que quieren ganar, y pierden.<\/p>\n<p>Porque ellos se creen que est\u00e1n a salvo del colapso.\u00a0 Que el dolor siempre ser\u00e1 ajeno.<\/p>\n<p>\u00bfDe veras creen que la desgracia tocar\u00e1 antes a su puerta y pedir\u00e1 permiso para entrar en su vida?<\/p>\n<p>\u00bfCreer\u00e1n que habr\u00e1 un anuncio antes, que habr\u00e1 una aplicaci\u00f3n para el celular que les avise que se acerca la tragedia?<\/p>\n<p>\u00bfEsperan que sonar\u00e1 la alerta y podr\u00e1n salir en orden de su trabajo, su casa, su auto y agruparse en tal punto?<\/p>\n<p>\u00bfEsperan que en sus miserables mundos, aparecer\u00e1, de pronto, la se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n que indique: \u201cpunto de reuni\u00f3n en caso de apocalipsis\u201d?<\/p>\n<p>Ellos, \u00bftienen en sus pueblos, en sus colonias, en sus ciudades, en sus pa\u00edses, en sus mundos, una puerta con un letrero luminoso encima rezando \u201cSALIDA DE EMERGENCIA\u201d?<\/p>\n<p>\u00bfSuponen que ser\u00e1 como en las series y pel\u00edculas de cat\u00e1strofes, que todo es normal y en un instante todo se descompone?<\/p>\n<p>Puede ser.\u00a0 Ellos son quienes saben, quienes imparten juicios y condenas.<\/p>\n<p>Pero, seg\u00fan nosotros, nosotras, zapatistas, la pesadilla la va construyendo el Poderoso poco a poco.\u00a0 Las m\u00e1s de las veces, la presenta como un beneficio, un avance.\u00a0 En veces es el progreso, el desarrollo, la civilizaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>Pero ya ve usted que somos ind\u00edgenas, lo que, seg\u00fan ellos, quiere decir ignorantes, manipulados por la religi\u00f3n, o la necesidad, o por ambas.<\/p>\n<p>Para ellos no tenemos ni la capacidad ni el raciocinio para diferenciar una cosa de otra.<\/p>\n<p>Para ellos no somos capaces de la m\u00ednima elaboraci\u00f3n te\u00f3rica.<\/p>\n<p>Pero, por ejemplo, hace m\u00e1s de 20 a\u00f1os se\u00f1alamos el colapso que sufrir\u00eda la globalizaci\u00f3n neoliberal.\u00a0 Ahora los cabezas grandes descubren que, en efecto, la globalizaci\u00f3n explosiona, y escriben ensayos minuciosos para demostrar lo que se puede constatar apagando la televisi\u00f3n, la computadora o dejando en paz el celular unos instantes, y ya no digamos salir a la calle, bastar\u00eda asomarse a la ventana para constatar lo que pasa.\u00a0 Se citan y recitan entre s\u00ed, se felicitan e intercambian zalamer\u00edas y cachondeos te\u00f3ricos (ok, tambi\u00e9n carnales, pero cada quien con su cada cual).<\/p>\n<p>Si hubiera justicia te\u00f3rica, se reconocer\u00eda que los m\u00e1s peque\u00f1os de los peque\u00f1os se asomaron antes a la cat\u00e1strofe en curso y la se\u00f1alaron.<\/p>\n<p>No dijeron si era buena o mala, no abundaron y redundaron en citas de pie de p\u00e1gina, ni acompa\u00f1aron sus aseveraciones con referencias a nombres extra\u00f1os con muchos grados acad\u00e9micos.<\/p>\n<p>Les cuento esto porque, hace un par de d\u00edas, les platicaba yo que, entre los papeles\u00a0 del SupMarcos, encontr\u00e9 ese texto que se supone explica las razones y motivos que llevaron a un escarabajo de nombre de pila <em>Nabucodonosor<\/em>, a elegir un nombre de lucha y una profesi\u00f3n \u00eddem, abandonar su casa y familia, y armado con una c\u00e1scara de cacat\u00e9 como yelmo, una tapa de pl\u00e1stico de un frasco de medicina como escudo, un clip desdoblado como lanza, y una ramita como espada (que se llamaba, por supuesto, Excalibur), elegir un amor imposible, asignarle a una tortuga la misi\u00f3n de cabalgadura con el parad\u00f3jico nombre de \u201cPegaso\u201d, escoger de escudero a un guerrillero de nariz evidente, y lanzarse a recorrer los caminos del mundo.<\/p>\n<p>Pero no buscaba yo ese texto.\u00a0 Porque en las \u00faltimas fechas he le\u00eddo y escuchado estudios y an\u00e1lisis que sostienen que parece, es probable, puede ser, es un supositorio, la globalizaci\u00f3n neoliberal no es la panacea prometida y, en realidad, est\u00e1 acarreando m\u00e1s perjuicios que beneficios.<\/p>\n<p>Y fui entonces yo a hurgar en ese ba\u00fal porque cre\u00eda haber le\u00eddo eso antes.<\/p>\n<p>Y pues lo encontr\u00e9 y aqu\u00ed se los leo.\u00a0 Tiene fecha de abril de 1996 y es una ponencia redactada por un escarabajo.\u00a0 Se titula:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cELEMENTOS PROMISORIOS PARA UN ANALISIS INICIAL COMO PRIMERA BASE DE UN ACERCAMIENTO ORIGINAL A LAS PRIMOGENITAS CONSIDERACIONES FUNDAMENTALES ACERCA DEL BASAMENTO SUPRAHISTORICO Y SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICOESPIRALIDOSO DEL NEOLIBERALISMO EN LA COYUNTURA DECISIVA DEL 6 DE ABRIL DE 1994 EN PUNTO DE LAS 0130, HORA SURORIENTAL, CON UNA LUNA QUE TIENDE A VACIARSE COMO SI FUERA BOLSILLO DE TRABAJADOR EN EL AUGE DE LAS PRIVATIZACIONES, LOS AJUSTES MONETARIOS Y OTRAS MEDIDAS ECONOMICAS TAN EFICACES QUE PROVOCAN ENCUENTROS COMO EL DE LA REALIDAD\u201d (Primera de 17,987 partes).<\/p>\n<p>La ponencia es bastante sint\u00e9tica. De hecho, se compone de una sola frase que dice as\u00ed:<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cEl problema con la globalizaci\u00f3n en el neoliberalismo es que los globos se revientan\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Oh, yo entiendo que en una publicaci\u00f3n \u201cseria\u201d de la academia o del limitado universo de los medios de paga, no se puede citar a pie de p\u00e1gina: \u201cDon Durito de La Lacandona. Op. Cit. 1996).\u00a0 Porque luego habr\u00eda que aclarar, al final de la publicaci\u00f3n, que el autor referido es un escarabajo que se cree andante caballero y cuyo rastro se perdi\u00f3 en La Realidad, el 25 de mayo del 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Pero les dec\u00eda yo que hay muchas cosas que no podemos explicar por qu\u00e9, pero son as\u00ed.<\/p>\n<p>Por ejemplo, la individualidad y lo colectivo.<\/p>\n<p>En colectivo es mejor que individual.\u00a0 No puedo explicarles cient\u00edficamente por qu\u00e9, y tienen todo el derecho de acusarme de esot\u00e9rico, o algo igualmente horrible.<\/p>\n<p>Lo que hemos visto en nuestro limitado y arcaico horizonte es que el colectivo puede sacar a relucir lo mejor de cada individualidad.<\/p>\n<p>No es que el colectivo te haga mejor y se hace un solo colectivo.<\/p>\n<p>En fin, ah\u00ed lo vean.<\/p>\n<p>Pero, como quiera, yo les recomendar\u00eda que aprovechen lo que va a hacer el Congreso Nacional Ind\u00edgena a partir de mayo de este a\u00f1os.\u00a0 Esperamos de veras que el CNI cumpla su propio mandato y no caiga en la b\u00fasqueda de votos y de cargos, sino que lleve el o\u00eddo hermano para quien abajo es dolor y soledad, que lo alivie con el llamado a la organizaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>El andar de estas compa\u00f1eras y compa\u00f1eros va a hacer visibles barrios, comunidades, tribus, naciones, pueblos promoverse.<\/p>\n<p>Tanto McCain como Kelly se miran entre s\u00ed extra\u00f1ados y argumentan: \u201c<em>pero si nos est\u00e1bamos refiriendo a lo que pretenden los fuckin indios frijoleros brownies, que est\u00e1n diciendo que pueden gobernar no s\u00f3lo M\u00e9xico sino el mundo entero con su fucking council.\u00a0 Ellos s\u00ed son un problema, no s\u00e9 por qu\u00e9 el otro se sinti\u00f3 aludido, si \u00e9l y nosotros sabemos que no representa amenaza alguna como no sea para s\u00ed mismo<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>El patr\u00f3n, que sea el finquero, que sea el capitalista, transcurr\u00eda sin mayores contratiempos cuando empez\u00f3 a detectarse mucha bulla en la sala de prensa donde los corresponsales asignados a la Casa Blanca se aburr\u00edan soberanamente.\u00a0 De pronto, todos se agolparon en torno a uno de los monitores.<\/p>\n<p>Resulta que una colega, m\u00e1s aburrida que el copete del Trump, se puso a \u201czapping\u201d en la red y hab\u00eda llegado a la p\u00e1gina del Sistema Zapatista de Televisi\u00f3n Intergalactica (\u201cSIZATI\u201d por sus siglas en espa\u00f1ol).<\/p>\n<p>En la pantalla se observaba la misma ceremonia pero con una c\u00e1mara que tomaba todo a espaldas de donde el Trump estaba.<\/p>\n<p>En la imagen se ve\u00eda que el Trump tra\u00eda un papel pegado en una de las nalgas que dec\u00eda \u201c<em>Kick me<\/em>\u201d, y otro en la otra nalga que rezaba \u201c<em>Fuck me<\/em>\u201d\u00a0 y uno m\u00e1s, a la altura del hombro izquierdo, en el que se le\u00eda \u201c<em>Vamos por todo para <strong>todoas<\/strong><\/em>\u201d y firmaba \u201c<em>El fucking Congreso Nacional Ind\u00edgena<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Los corresponsales enloquecieron y llamaron fren\u00e9ticos a sus redacciones, las principales cadenas televisivas del mundo suspendieron su programaci\u00f3n habitual para enlazarse con el SIZATI.\u00a0 En todo el planeta las pantallas se llenaron de las nalgas del se\u00f1or Trump.<\/p>\n<p>Las consecuencias no se hicieron esperar: la muy honorable, discreta y recatada familia Kardashian sufri\u00f3 un s\u00edncope card\u00edaco porque su reality show perdi\u00f3 el 100% de la audiencia; el mundo entero no vio la escena culminante de la serie The Walking Dead, donde Darill le confiesa su amor a Rick y, cuando se besan apasionadamente el Rick con el Flechitas, los corresponsales y pens\u00f3 para s\u00ed que al fin la fuckin prensa hab\u00eda entendido la grandeza de \u00e9l, o sea del Trump <em>himself<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Horas despu\u00e9s la s\u00e9ptima flota naval de los fuckins marines y la fuckin 101 divisi\u00f3n aerotransportada vigilaban las mares y cielos del mundo, esperando que los servicios de inteligencia de la OTAN descubrieran la ubicaci\u00f3n del fuckin SIZATI para lanzarle 3 mil misiles <em>Tomahawk<\/em> con 3 mil cabezas nucleares cada uno, adem\u00e1s de la madre de todas las bombas.<\/p>\n<p>Al bunker del patr\u00f3n esos <em>Tomahawk<\/em> estaban hechos en China, o los gringos le hab\u00edan avisado antes a los rusos para que tuvieran tiempo de desalojar.<\/p>\n<p>Podr\u00eda pedirle a Defensa Zapatista su opini\u00f3n pero creo que el momento no es oportuno.\u00a0 Porque, mientras les cuento esto, la ni\u00f1a ya est\u00e1 dentro de la champa y se ha plantado frente m\u00edo. \u00a0A su lado, el ni\u00f1a me cuenta:<\/p>\n<p>Resulta que el comisariado aut\u00f3nomo lleg\u00f3 a medir en el potrero porque van a poner un templete para el pr\u00f3ximo <strong><em>CompArte<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Defensa Zapatista quer\u00eda que el templete estuviera en un costado, del lado del arroyo.\u00a0 As\u00ed, m\u00e1s adelante, pod\u00eda servir para que ella sube a recibir el trofeo cuando complete el equipo y gane el campeonato.<\/p>\n<p>El comisariado ha visto que es mejor atr\u00e1s de la porter\u00eda que da al camino real, y no hace caso de los argumentos de la ni\u00f1a quien, al verse contrariada, decidi\u00f3 que el comisariado, como es hombre, est\u00e1 atacando sus derechos de \u201ccomo mujeres que somos\u201d y le empez\u00f3 a dar, como quien dice, la clase pol\u00edtica.<\/p>\n<p>Me cuenta que la cosa se puso grave porque el Gato-perro se sinti\u00f3 obligado a intervenir en la argumentaci\u00f3n y mordi\u00f3 al comisariado en el tobillo.\u00a0 As\u00ed que el perro, gato o lo que sea y la ni\u00f1a, fueron a parar a la escuela donde la promotora de educaci\u00f3n escuch\u00f3 escandalizada la, como quien dice, \u201crelaci\u00f3n de los hechos\u201d que le cont\u00f3 el comisariado.<\/p>\n<p>Resultado: de castigo, la ni\u00f1a y el gato-perro ten\u00edan que buscarlo y hablarlo al SupGaleano para que \u00e9l les explicara por qu\u00e9 es importante el arte en la lucha.<\/p>\n<p>Yo no vi mucha disposici\u00f3n de aprendizaje que digamos, ni en la ni\u00f1a ni en el animalito. As\u00ed que trat\u00e9 de aplicar mi famoso m\u00e9todo pedag\u00f3gico \u201cvuelta y vuelta\u201d, que se basa en el postulado filos\u00f3fico de que \u201cno hay problema lo suficientemente hac\u00edan.<\/p>\n<p>Unos dijeron que ni modo, que hay que buscar otro lugar para hacer la milpa.<\/p>\n<p>Otros dec\u00edan que no, que el terreno ya estaba rozado y de balde quedaba si ya no lo Ind\u00edgena.<\/p>\n<p>Entonces siguieron discutiendo y se hicieron varios grupos: un grupo dec\u00eda que hab\u00eda que rezarle al dios para que quitara la piedra, otro grupo dec\u00eda que qu\u00e9 dios ni qu\u00e9 nada, que la ciencia; y el otro uno dec\u00eda que hab\u00eda que investigar y descubrir las huellas del <em>chupacabras<\/em> Salinas, el De Gortari, no el Pliego.\u00a0 Porque el Salinas De Gortari era el Salinas malo y el Salinas Pliego era el Salinas bueno.<\/p>\n<p>Entonces cada grupo se puso a hacer lo que pensaba.<\/p>\n<p>Los del rezo trajeron incienso y una imagen del santo patrono del pueblo, hicieron un peque\u00f1o altar y ah\u00ed estaban reza y reza.<\/p>\n<p>El otro grupo fue por sus cuadernos y la cinta m\u00e9trica y se pusieron a medir y calcular para, haciendo palanca con un palo, mover la piedra.<\/p>\n<p>El otro uno fue por el equipo de detective marca \u201cMi Alegr\u00eda\u201d y con lupa y microscopio revisaban la piedra para ver si el <em>chupacabras<\/em> hab\u00eda dejado huellas de su pezu\u00f1a.<\/p>\n<p>Los tres grupos ah\u00ed estaban, haciendo lo que pensaban era mejor para resolver el problema.<\/p>\n<p>En eso sus cuadernos.<\/p>\n<p>El tercer grupo le pidi\u00f3 las pruebas de la participaci\u00f3n del <em>chupacabras<\/em> malo, mientras redactaban un desplegado donde los abajo firmantes convocaban a say.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cIn Chiapas, the indigenous are doing the same or worse as before the Zapatista uprising,\u201d<\/em> the for-profit media repeat every time their foreman tells them to.<\/p>\n<p>Twenty-three years ago, \u201chumanitarian aid\u201d arrived from all over the world. We Zapatista indigenous people understood then that what we were receiving was not charity, but rather support for resistance and rebellion. And instead of consuming it all ourselves or selling it, as the <em>partidistas<\/em> do, we used that support to build schools, hospitals, and projects for self-organization. Little by little and not without problems, difficulties, and errors, we built the material basis for our freedom.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday we heard Subcomandante Insurgente Mois\u00e9s tell us that the indigenous Zapatista communities organized themselves not to ask for help, but rather to support other people in another land, with another language and culture, with another face, with other customs, in order that they might resist. He has described for us the process that was followed to achieve this. Anyone who listened to his words can say, and they would not be wrong, that on that long path from the coffee field to the kilo of packaged coffee, there is one constant: organization.<\/p>\n<p>But let\u2019s return to 1994 -1996.<\/p>\n<p>As women, men, and <strong><em>others<\/em> <em>[otroas]<\/em><\/strong> began to arrive from diverse corners of Mexico and the world, we Zapatista women and men understood that on that calendar, it was not a particular geography which extended its hand and its heart to us.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->It wasn\u2019t arrogant Europe sympathizing with the poor little Indians who, uselessly, it had wanted to exterminate centuries earlier.<\/p>\n<p>It was the Europe from below, the rebellious one, the one which, no matter what its size, struggles every day. The one that told us with its support, \u201cdon\u2019t give up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It wasn\u2019t the turbulent and brutal North which hides Power and government behind the flag of the murky stars and stripes which, simulating humanity, sent us crumbs.<\/p>\n<p>It was the Latino and Anglo community that defends its culture and customs, that resists and struggles, that doesn\u2019t stupify itself with the drug of the \u201cAmerican Dream,\u201d which supported us while murmuring, \u201cdon\u2019t sell out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It wasn\u2019t the <em>partidista<\/em> [political party affiliated] Mexico, the one of the nomenclature of all defeats turned into jobs and positions for the leaders while the base is forgotten, that twice tried to cash in on us: first to cash in on the blood of our fallen, and later to call in our debt on the charity they offered.<\/p>\n<p>It was Mexico from below, the one that organizes itself regardless of whether they are many or few, whether or not they appear in the news, whether or not they are interviewed in the for-profit media; the one that carries its dead, its political prisoners, its forcibly disappeared not as a lament but as a commitment. That Mexico was the one that took from what little it had to give to us while its gaze ordered, \u201cdon\u2019t give in.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>From Africa, Asia, and Oceania support and hope also arrived, whispering to us, \u201cresist.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And since those first years, we Zapatista women and men understood that what they gave us was not aid but a commitment, and since that calendar we have done our best to honor it.<\/p>\n<p>Even with everything against us, harassed by the army and the paramilitaries, slandered by the for-profit media, forgotten by those who realized that they couldn\u2019t take advantage of our suffering, even with all that we have insisted on honoring that debt, every day and everywhere, not without mistakes and failures, not without stumbling and falls, not without deaths.<\/p>\n<p>That man, that women, that <em>other [otroa]<\/em> who struggles in other corners of the planet, can now say that they struggled at our side. And with no qualms, they can leave to us the errors and the problems and justly make our achievements theirs, achievements which, though small, count.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to all those people who were and are <em>compa\u00f1eros<\/em> perhaps without knowing it, we are not the same as 23 years ago.<\/p>\n<p>Two decades ago, each time our <em>compa\u00f1eras<\/em> and <em>compa\u00f1eros<\/em> spoke, invariably they finished their words by apologizing for their Spanish.<\/p>\n<p>Today, without forgetting their maternal language, our young men and women affectionately correct the intonation and spelling of more than one man, woman, or <strong><em>other<\/em> <\/strong>with a university degree.<\/p>\n<p>Two decades ago the EZLN was the organization, referent, and leadership of the indigenous communities. Today it they who lead us, and we who obey.<\/p>\n<p>Before we directed and organized them; now our work is to see how we can support their decisions.<\/p>\n<p>Before we were out in front, marking the way towards destiny. Today we are behind our <em>pueblos<\/em>, often running to catch up with them.<\/p>\n<p>We have moved to the background. Some will see this as a failure.<\/p>\n<p>For us, it\u2019s an honorable account we can give to our dead, like SupPedro, like the <em>compa\u00f1era<\/em> Malena, who passed away just a few days ago, and about whom we still cannot speak without pain cramping our hands and wetting our eyes and our words.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s how important she was to us, we Zapatista women and men.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ve faced these days and this meeting with her death on our shoulders and, though not explicitly, her voice has taken ours.<\/p>\n<p>For several days we have wanted to settle a debt of honor with those whom today we miss greatly. We have wanted to make ours the words that we imagine they would say if they were here by our side, as they were all their lives.<\/p>\n<p>But for now we should continue, and make everyone aware that our communities, our peoples, have decided that the moment is right to remind those who have believed in and trusted our flag and our way that we are here, that we are resisting, that we won\u2019t give up, we won\u2019t sell out, we won\u2019t give in.<\/p>\n<p>We want them to know that now they can count on us, the Zapatista communities. That although it might not be much, and that it be from a distance, we support them.<\/p>\n<p>Nor will our support be a handout. For them [<em>ellos, ellas, elloas<\/em>], for you, it will be a commitment.<\/p>\n<p>Because we hope that you resist until the last. We hope that you don\u2019t give up, that you don\u2019t sell out, that you don\u2019t give in.<\/p>\n<p>We hope that even in the moments where you feel most alone, most defeated, most forgotten, you have in your pain and your anguish at least one certainty: that there is someone who, despite being far away and being the color of the earth, says to you that you are not alone [<em>solos, solas, soloas<\/em>]. That your pain is not foreign to us. That your struggle, your resistance, your rebellion, is also ours.<\/p>\n<p>We will support you as is our way, that is to say, with organized support.<\/p>\n<p>And you should know and be very clear that this support carries with it our affection, our admiration, and our respect.<\/p>\n<p>The package doesn\u2019t say so, but inside is the work of Zapatista men, women, children, and elders.<\/p>\n<p>Because several years ago we realized that our dreams are not local, nor national: they are international.<\/p>\n<p>We understood that for our efforts, borders get in the way. That our struggle is global. That it always has been, but that those who birthed us didn\u2019t know it and that it wasn\u2019t until indigenous blood took the rudder as well as the motor and marked the course that we discovered that pain, rage, and rebellion don\u2019t have a passport and that they are illegal above, but sisters below.<\/p>\n<p>Today we can call anyone who resists, rebels, and struggles in any part of the planet <em>\u201ccompa\u00f1ero,\u201d \u201ccompa\u00f1era,\u201d<\/em> \u201c<em><strong>compa\u00f1eroa.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>That is the new geography that didn\u2019t exist in that other calendar.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>So, receive our support without shame.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Receive it for what it is: a greeting.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Use it as a pretext to shake up the world, to claw at the walls, to say \u201cno,\u201d to lift up your heart and your gaze.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>If it is true that the powerful neither see you nor hear you, know that the Zapatista men and women do see and hear you, and although we aren\u2019t very big, we\u2019ve been rolling for centuries and we know well that tomorrow is born as it should be, that is to say, below and to the left.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>-*-<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>On Individuals and Collectives<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>There are many things we can\u2019t explain. We know that they are that way, but our knowledge is rudimentary and we can\u2019t explain why.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>You can already see, for example, that the talking heads say that we don\u2019t know Marxism (I don\u2019t know if that\u2019s a defect or a virtue); that we\u2019re a fantasy prolonged in time for reasons they can\u2019t explain but which are <strong><em>suspiciousist<\/em><\/strong><em>.<\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/enlacezapatista.ezln.org.mx\/2017\/05\/08\/lessons-on-geography-and-globalized-calendars\/?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+EnlaceZapatista+%28Enlace+Zapatista%29#_edn1\" name=\"_ednref1\">[i]<\/a> Since it\u2019s not possible for a group of indigenous people to think, it must be the white man or some dark force that manipulates us and is taking us who knows where.<\/p>\n<p>Our knowledge, they tell us, is nothing more than voluntarism and good luck in the best of cases, or the simple manipulation of some perverse mind in the worst case.<\/p>\n<p>But it\u2019s not that it bothers them if someone leads and orients us. What bothers them is that they aren\u2019t the ones doing it. It makes them uncomfortable that we don\u2019t obey, that the rebelliousness in these lands isn\u2019t a flag but rather by now a way of life.<\/p>\n<p>In sum, it bothers them or makes them uncomfortable that we are Zapatistas.<\/p>\n<p>And the same incapacity they attribute to our struggle, they extend to the field of knowledge.<\/p>\n<p>They\u2019re still seeing us from above. From their ample and luxurious banisters they look out on us with mockery, pity, and disapproval. Then they return to their spacious first-class cabins to get off thinking about their own prosperity and well-being, exciting themselves imagining the pain, desperation, and anguish of the other [<strong><em>loa otroa<\/em><\/strong>].<\/p>\n<p>Because they travel in the upper part of the splendid ship, they sail the great floating plantation that travels the contemporary geographies and calendars.<\/p>\n<p>But if they peer out again and direct their gaze below and to the left, they will look at us more closely and with greater concern.<\/p>\n<p>But no, it\u2019s not because we have grown to catch up to them. It\u2019s not that we\u2019re stretching to try to be like them.<\/p>\n<p>No, we are not them. And we don\u2019t want to be.<\/p>\n<p>If they look at us more closely it is because, plain and simple, their magnificent ship is sinking. It\u2019s sinking irretrievably, and the managers [<em>caporales<\/em>], foremen [<em>mayordomos<\/em>] and overseers [<em>capataces<\/em>] know it, and they have their life-boats ready to abandon the ship when the catastrophe is so evident that no one can deny it.<\/p>\n<p>But don\u2019t pay me any mind. They\u2019re the great scholars, the ones who handle the new technological marvels with great skill. They\u2019re the ones who, with the click of a finger, can find justifications for their cynicism, their meanness, and their imbecility which, just because it dresses itself up as intellectual, doesn\u2019t cease to be what it is: conceited and cynical foolishness. They who skillfully sidestep the counter-arguments that are in plain sight, who edit and tamper with words and facts to adjust them to their convenience.<\/p>\n<p>And they aren\u2019t even interested in correcting us. They only want to console themselves in their lowness, in their loneliness. They claim to be individuals, unique and unrepeatable, but they are nothing more than one among millions of flies swarming over shit.<\/p>\n<p>Those who believe they know and don\u2019t. Those who want to win but lose.<\/p>\n<p>Because they think that they are safe from the collapse, that the pain will always be someone else\u2019s. Do they really think that misfortune will knock on their doors first and ask permission before entering their lives?<\/p>\n<p>Do they think there will be an announcement beforehand, that there will be a cell phone app that will alert them that tragedy approaches?<\/p>\n<p>Do they expect that the alarm will sound and that they\u2019ll be able to leave work, leave home, exit their cars in an orderly fashion to meet in a designated spot?<\/p>\n<p>Do they expect that, in their miserable worlds, all of a sudden signage will appear indicating the \u201cmeeting point in case of apocalypse?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In their villages, neighborhoods, cities, countries, worlds, do they have a door with an illuminated sign that reads \u201cEMERGENCY EXIT\u201d?<\/p>\n<p>Do they imagine it will be like in TV shows and movies about disasters, where everything is normal until it all goes to hell in an instant?<\/p>\n<p>It could be. They\u2019re the ones who know, the ones who pass judgements and issue sentences.<\/p>\n<p>But, according to us Zapatistas, the Powerful themselves are building the nightmare little by little. More often than not, they present the nightmare as a benefit, an advance; other times they present it as progress, development, civilization.<\/p>\n<p>But you can already see that we are indigenous, which, according to them, means ignorant, manipulated by religion or necessity, or both.<\/p>\n<p>For them, we have neither the capacity nor the intelligence to distinguish one thing from another.<\/p>\n<p>For them, we\u2019re not capable of elaborating even the most minimal theorization.<\/p>\n<p>But, for example, more than twenty years ago we pointed to the collapse that neoliberal globalization would suffer. Now the talking heads discover that, in effect, globalization is shattering, and they write painstaking essays to demonstrate what can be confirmed by turning off the television or the computer, or leaving one\u2019s phone alone for a few seconds, and let\u2019s not even mention going out to the street; it\u2019s enough to poke your head out the window to confirm what\u2019s happening. They cite and re-cite amongst themselves, congratulating each other and exchanging theoretical fawning and foreplay (ok, the carnal kind too, but to each their own).<\/p>\n<p>If there was theoretical justice, it would be recognized that the smallest of the small were the first to sight the ongoing catastrophe and point to it.<\/p>\n<p>They didn\u2019t say if it was good or bad, they didn\u2019t abound and redound in footnoted citations, nor did they accompany their asseverations with references to strange names with many academic titles.<\/p>\n<p>I say this because a few days ago I was telling you all that among SupMarcos\u2019 papers, I found that text which supposedly explains the reasons and motives that caused a beetle by the given name of Nebuchadnezzar to choose a <em>nom de guerre<\/em> and a profession that were one and the same, to abandon his home and his family, and armed with a <em>cacat\u00e9<\/em> shell as a helmet, a plastic pill bottle lid as a shield, an unfolded paper clip as a lance, and a branch as a sword (which he called, of course, Excalibur), to choose an impossible love, to assign a tortoise with the paradoxical name of Pegasus to be his steed, to choose as a squire a warrior with a prominent nose, and set off to travel the paths of the world.<\/p>\n<p>But I wasn\u2019t looking for that text. Because in recent days I have read and heard studies and analysis saying that it seems, it\u2019s probable, it could be, it\u2019s a guess, that neoliberal globalization is not the panacea promised and, in reality, it\u2019s causing more harm than good.<\/p>\n<p>So I went looking in that trunk because I thought I had read that somewhere before.<\/p>\n<p>And, well, I found it, and now I\u2019ll read it to you. It\u2019s dated April 1996 and it\u2019s a presentation written by a beetle. It\u2019s titled: \u201cPROMISING ELEMENTS FOR AN INITIAL ANALYSIS AS A FIRST STEP TOWARDS AN ORIGINAL APPROACH TO THE PRIMOGENITARY, FUNDAMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS OF THE SUPRAHISTORIC AND SUPERCALIFRAGILISTIC-EXPIALIDOCIOUS BASIS OF NEOLIBERALISM AT THE DECISIVE CONJUNCTURE OF APRIL 6, 1994, AT 01:30 HOURS ON THE DOT, SOUTHEASTERN TIME, WITH A MOON TENDING TO SHRINK LIKE THE WALLET OF A WORKER DURING THE RISE OF PRIVATIZATIONS, MONETARY ADJUSTMENTS, AND OTHER ECONOMIC MEASURES SO EFFECTIVE THEY PROVOKE ENCOUNTERS LIKE THAT OF <em>LA REALIDAD<\/em>\u201d (first of 17,987 parts).<\/p>\n<p>The presentation is quite concise. In fact, it\u2019s composed of a single phrase that goes like this:<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cThe problem with globalization in neoliberalism is that the <em>globos<\/em> [balloons] pop.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Oh, I understand that in a \u201cserious\u201d publication in the academy or in the limited universe of the for-profit media, you cannot cite \u201cSir Durito of the Lacand\u00f3n, <em>op. cit.<\/em> 1996\u201d in your footnote. Because later you would have to clarify, at the end of the publication, that the author referenced is a beetle who believes himself to be a knight errant and whose trail was lost in La Realidad on May 25, 2014.<\/p>\n<p>But I was saying that there are many things we can\u2019t explain, but which are the way they are.<\/p>\n<p>For example, individuality and the collective.<\/p>\n<p>Collectively is better than individually. I can\u2019t explain to you why scientifically, and you have every right to accuse me of being esoteric, or something equally horrible.<\/p>\n<p>What we\u2019ve seen on our limited and archaic horizon is that the collective can bring to the forefront the best of each individuality.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not that the collective makes you better and individuality makes you worse, no. Each person is who he or she is, a complex handful of virtues and defects (whatever each of those might mean), but in particular situations the virtues or the defects will shine.<\/p>\n<p>Try it, even if it\u2019s just once. Nothing bad will to happen to you. In any case, if you\u2019re as marvelous as you think you are, then it will reinforce your belief that the world doesn\u2019t deserve you. But perhaps you\u2019ll find inside yourselves skills and abilities you didn\u2019t know you had. Try it, and in the end if you don\u2019t like it you can always go back to your twitter account, your facebook wall, and from there continue dictating to the whole world what it should be and do.<\/p>\n<p>But that\u2019s not why I\u2019m recommending to you now that you work and struggle collectively. The issue is that the storm is coming. What you can see now isn\u2019t even remotely the most decisive moment. The worst is yet to come. And the individualities, as brilliant and capable as they may be, will not be able to survive except with others [<em>otros, otras, <strong>otroas<\/strong><\/em>].<\/p>\n<p>We have seen how collective work has not only made it possible for the originary peoples to survive several terminal storms, but also to advance when they are in community, and to disappear when each person only has their own individual well-being in mind.<\/p>\n<p>As far as the Zapatista indigenous communities are concerned, collective work was not organized by the EZLN, nor by Christianity; neither Christ nor Marx had anything to do with the fact that, in moments of danger, faced with external threats, and for parties, music, and dance, the community in territories of the originary peoples becomes a single collective.<\/p>\n<p>In sum, it\u2019s up to you.<\/p>\n<p>But, in any case, I\u2019d recommend that you make the most of what the National Indigenous Congress is going to do starting in May of this year. We truly hope that the CNI will obey its own mandate and will not fall into the trap of seeking votes and official positions, but rather will carry a brotherly ear to those below who are lonely and in pain, and alleviate that pain with the call to organization.<\/p>\n<p>The path of these <em>compa\u00f1eras<\/em> and <em>compa\u00f1eros<\/em> is going to make visible neighborhoods, communities, tribes, nations, originary peoples. Approach them, the indigenous. Abandon, if you can, the anthropological lens which sees them as strange and anachronistic creatures. Set aside pity and the position of the evangelizing minister who offers them salvation, help, knowledge. Approach them as a sister, a brother, an<em>other<\/em> [<em>hermana, hermano,<\/em> <strong><em>hermanoa<\/em><\/strong>].<\/p>\n<p>Because, when the time arrives in which nobody knows where to go, those originary peoples, the ones who today are condescended to and humiliated, will know where to put their gaze and their step, they will know the \u2018how\u2019 and the \u2018when\u2019. They will know, in sum, how to answer the most important and urgent question in these times: \u201cWhat\u2019s next?\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>-*-<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Now, to conclude, a few brief signposts. A few hints, we could say.<\/p>\n<p>.- When Trump talks about recuperating the US borders, he talks about the Mexican one, but the plantation owner\u2019s gaze points towards Mapuche territory. The struggle of the originary peoples can not and should not limit itself to Mexico; it must lift its gaze, ear, and word to include the entire continent, from Alaska to the Tierra de Fuego.<\/p>\n<p>.- When, in the voice of Subcomandate Insurgente Mois\u00e9s, we say that the whole world is turning into a plantation and the national governments are turning into overseers who simulate power and independence when the boss is away, we are not only signaling a paradigm with consequences for theory. We are also signaling a problem that has consequences for struggle. And we don\u2019t mean only the \u201cbig\u201d struggles, those of the political parties and social movements, but rather all struggles. Zapatismo, as liberatory thought, does not recognize the Bravo and Suchiate rivers as the limits of its aspirations of freedom. Our \u201ceverything for everyone\u201d does not recognize borders. The struggle against Capital is worldwide.<\/p>\n<p>.- Among the options, our position is and has been clear: there is no good overseer. But we understand that some differentiate, usually as a sort of comforting therapy, between the bad ones and the worse ones. Okay well, those who do little are satisfied with little, little or nothing.<\/p>\n<p>But they should try to understand that those who risk everything, want everything. And for us Zapatistas, freedom is everything.<\/p>\n<p>We don\u2019t want to choose between a cruel boss and a nice boss: plain and simply, we do not want bosses.<\/p>\n<p>Well, that\u2019s it.<\/p>\n<p>Many thanks [<em>Muchas gracias<\/em>, literally \u201cmany graces\u201d]. The first is a Senator and the second is Secretary of Homeland Security, both in the United States government. The boss reproaches them for having stated publicly that it would be a problem if a leftist candidate became president of Mexico, which several pre-candidates have taken advantage of to promote themselves.<\/p>\n<p>McCain and Kelly exchange confused glances and protest: \u201cBut we were talking about what those <em>fucking<\/em> <em>indian beaner brownies<\/em> intend to do, they say they can govern not just Mexico but the whole world with their \u201c<em>fucking<\/em> <em>council\u201d<\/em> [English in the original]. They are actually a problem, I don\u2019t know why that other guy thought we were alluding to him; he knows as well as we do that he doesn\u2019t represent any threat at all except to himself<a href=\"http:\/\/enlacezapatista.ezln.org.mx\/2017\/05\/08\/lessons-on-geography-and-globalized-calendars\/?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+EnlaceZapatista+%28Enlace+Zapatista%29#_edn3\" name=\"_ednref3\">[iii]<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The boss, that is to say the plantation owner, that is to say the capitalist, listened to them and nodded approvingly. He dismissed them and then called Donald Trump and his mom (who appears here only for the purpose of insults) as well as the principal political leaders to give them instructions.<\/p>\n<p>Hours later, in a solemn session of the United States Congress, Trump decorated Senator McCain and General Kelly with the medal of capitalist merit, the highest honor that the boss can give to managers, foremen, and overseers.<\/p>\n<p>The session was proceeding without incident when there began to be a lot of ruckus in the press room, where the correspondents assigned to the White House were getting supremely bored. Suddenly, everyone crowded around one of the monitors.<\/p>\n<p>It turns out that one of their colleagues, more bored than Trump\u2019s hairpiece, started channel-surfing on the web and had arrived at the Zapatista Intergalactic Television System (abbreviated \u201cSIZATI\u201d in Spanish).<\/p>\n<p>The same ceremony was displayed on the screen, but with a camera that captured everything from behind where Trump was standing.<\/p>\n<p>In the image you could see that Trump had a paper stuck onto one of his buttcheeks that said \u201c<em>Kick me<\/em>\u201d, and another one on the other cheek that read \u201c<em>Fuck me<\/em>\u201d, and one more, on his left shoulder, on which was printed \u201cWe want everything for everyone [<strong><em>todoas<\/em><\/strong>]\u201d and was signed by \u201cThe <em>fucking<\/em> National Indigenous Congress.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The correspondents went nuts and frantically called their editors; the biggest television channels in the world suspended their regularly scheduled programming to link to the SIZATI. Across the whole planet, screens were filled with Mr. Trump\u2019s buttcheeks.<\/p>\n<p>The consequences were not slow in coming: the honorable, discreet and demure Kardashian family suffered a heart attack because their reality show lost 100% of its audience; the whole world didn\u2019t see the culminating scene of \u201cThe Walking Dead\u201d where Daryl confesses his love for Rick and, when Rick and \u201cArrows\u201d kiss passionately, boom! Michone cuts off both of their heads and, sheathing her katana and looking at the camera, says: \u201cI\u2019d be better off going to the <em>fucking<\/em> Lacand\u00f3n Jungle to find my true love, <em>fucking<\/em> SupGaleano. Rosita better not steal him from me!\u201d; nor did they watch the final episode of the <em>Game of Thrones<\/em> series in which Daenerys kisses Tyrion, demonstrating that the <em>fucking<\/em> little guy wins when it counts and that, in effect, John Snow didn\u2019t know anything<a href=\"http:\/\/enlacezapatista.ezln.org.mx\/2017\/05\/08\/lessons-on-geography-and-globalized-calendars\/?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+EnlaceZapatista+%28Enlace+Zapatista%29#_edn4\" name=\"_ednref4\">[iv]<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>From the podium of Congress, Trump observed the agitation among the correspondents and thought to himself that finally the <em>fucking<\/em> press had understood his greatness, that is, that of Trump <em>himself<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Hours later, the Seventh Fleet of the <em>fucking<\/em> US Marines and the <em>fucking<\/em> 101<sup>st<\/sup> Airborne Division monitored the seas and skies of the world, waiting for NATO\u2019s intelligence services to detect the <em>fucking<\/em> SIZATI\u2019s location in order to launch three thousand Tomahawk missiles containing three thousand nuclear warheads, as well as the mother of all bombs<a href=\"http:\/\/enlacezapatista.ezln.org.mx\/2017\/05\/08\/lessons-on-geography-and-globalized-calendars\/?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+EnlaceZapatista+%28Enlace+Zapatista%29#_edn5\" name=\"_ednref5\">[v]<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The information arrives to the boss\u2019s bunker: \u201cThe fuckin\u2019 bastards are fuckin\u2019 everywhere!\u201d which, in Spanish, can be translated as <em>\u201cwe don\u2019t have any fucking idea where those guys are.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The weapons industry was already working full steam ahead to supply a new order of missiles, so it was necessary to use up the ones already made: if not, the plantation owner\u2019s <em>fucking<\/em> society was going to get mad. The boss scrawled a new order. The <em>fucking<\/em> gringo Secretary of Defense looked worriedly at the boss. The big boss looked back at him with a face that said <em>\u201cdo it, or else,\u201d<\/em> and the soldier went running to transmit the new <em>fucking<\/em> order.<\/p>\n<p>The three thousand <em>fucking<\/em> Tomahawks had a new target: the <em>fucking<\/em> White House (Trump\u2019s\u2014<em>don\u2019t worry, fucking<\/em> Pe\u00f1a Nieto<a href=\"http:\/\/enlacezapatista.ezln.org.mx\/2017\/05\/08\/lessons-on-geography-and-globalized-calendars\/?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+EnlaceZapatista+%28Enlace+Zapatista%29#_edn6\" name=\"_ednref6\">[vi]<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cFire!\u201d<\/em> ordered the <em>fucking<\/em> boss, <em>\u201cWe\u2019ll find another fucking overseer soon enough.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>A few hours later the world\u2019s leaders were expressing their condolences for \u201ctheir brothers, the people of the United States,\u201d and a long line of <em>suspirantes<\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/enlacezapatista.ezln.org.mx\/2017\/05\/08\/lessons-on-geography-and-globalized-calendars\/?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+EnlaceZapatista+%28Enlace+Zapatista%29#_edn7\" name=\"_ednref7\">[vii]<\/a> waited their turn outside the boss\u2019s big house.<\/p>\n<p>Among those lined up were Hillary, <em>el Chapo <\/em>[Guzm\u00e1n], <em>la Calderona<\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/enlacezapatista.ezln.org.mx\/2017\/05\/08\/lessons-on-geography-and-globalized-calendars\/?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+EnlaceZapatista+%28Enlace+Zapatista%29#_edn8\" name=\"_ednref8\">[viii]<\/a><em>, <\/em>and Aurelio Nu\u00f1o Ramsey, would-be policeman who was repeating to himself, <em>\u201cit\u2019s pronounced read, not red.\u201d<\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/enlacezapatista.ezln.org.mx\/2017\/05\/08\/lessons-on-geography-and-globalized-calendars\/?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+EnlaceZapatista+%28Enlace+Zapatista%29#_edn9\" name=\"_ednref9\">[ix]<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Very far away and in the Southeastern Mexican state of Chiapas, in the highest branches of a ceiba tree, with a computer connected to the internet via an antenna that SubMoy and \u201c<em>el Monarca<\/em>\u201d made out of a pot lid, reeds, masking tape, and a USB modem, a little girl and a little boy look worriedly at each other, and she scolded him: \u201c<em>I told you not to click there.<\/em>\u201d The boy defends himself, <em>\u201cIt wasn\u2019t me!\u201d<\/em> Between them there was a small animal that looks like a cat\u2026 or maybe a dog, that wagged its tail happily and smiled with <em>fucking<\/em> malice.<\/p>\n<p>(<em>fucking<\/em> <em>fade out<\/em>)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">-*-<\/p>\n<p><strong> II. <em>Defensa Zapatista<\/em> and the Rock in the Road<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWhy are fucking men like that?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The question comes from the door of the hut and <em>Defensa Zapatista<\/em>, hands on her hips, looks at me severely.<\/p>\n<p>She caught me off guard. I was trying to decipher how 50 North American Tomahawk missiles had provoked only 5 or 6 casualties at the military airbase in Syria. Either those Tomahawks were made in China, or the gringos had told the Russians what they were going to do beforehand so the latter would have time to clear out.<\/p>\n<p>I could have asked <em>Defensa Zapatista <\/em>her opinion on the issue but it didn\u2019t seem to be the ideal moment. In fact as I am telling you this, this little girl is already inside the hut, standing squarely in front of me. At her side the cat-dog also stares fixedly at me with disapproval.<\/p>\n<p>I was about to respond, \u201c<em>like what?<\/em>\u201d but the little girl wasn\u2019t waiting for a response, but just making sure I had heard her. She continued:<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Did God make you all that way or do you study to be idiots? Do you train or get coached on being dumbasses?<\/em> <em>Or do you all start out that way, except that nobody can tell when you\u2019re little and only once you\u2019re grown is it clear that men are idiots and women are smart?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I was preparing a long discussion regarding gender defense, as they say, but there was a machete too close to the angry little girl and I doubted it would be prudent to even try to move because the cat-dog was growling with hostility at my boots.<\/p>\n<p>I didn\u2019t understand what had provoked the Zapatista fury of the little girl, but she didn\u2019t stop for a breath.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cYou think we women don\u2019t know how to use a machete? We do know. And we know how to work the land and when to clear it and when to burn and when to plant. You think we don\u2019t know about animals? I mean other animals, I\u2019m not talking about men.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>When the storm wanes, I ask <em>Defensa Zapatista<\/em> what happened that got her so pissed off.<\/p>\n<p>Amid threats and gender accusations, the little girl tells me:<\/p>\n<p>Apparently the autonomous commissary came to measure the pasture because they we\u2019re planning to build a stage there for the next <strong><em>CompArte<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><em>Defensa Zapatista<\/em> wanted the stage to be off to one side, beside the stream. That way, later on, she could receive her trophy there when she had filled up her team and won the championship.<\/p>\n<p>The commissary thought it would be better placed behind the goal where it connects to the main path, and didn\u2019t listen to the arguments of the little girl who, annoyed, decided that the commissary, being a man, was attacking her rights \u201cas the women that we are\u201d and began to subject him to, as we say, a political lesson.<\/p>\n<p>Apparently the situation got pretty serious because the cat-dog felt obliged to intervene and bit the commissary on the ankle. Thus the dog or cat or whatever and the little girl had to go to the school where the education <em>promotora<\/em> listened scandalized to the \u201cnarration of events\u201d explained by the commissary.<\/p>\n<p>The consequence: as a punishment, the little girl and the cat-dog had to go find SupGaleano and listen to his explanation of why art is important to the struggle.<\/p>\n<p>I didn\u2019t see much disposition to learn, we could say, on behalf of the little girl or of the little animal. So I tried to apply my famous pedagogical method of \u201cturning things over\u201d which is based on the philosophical postulate of \u201cthere is no problem so big that you can\u2019t turn it over a few times.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>So I told her the following story:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>The Rock in the Road<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Once there was a community. Every day,very early, the men and women would drink their coffee along with a little bit of beans and then put a ball of <em>pozol<\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/enlacezapatista.ezln.org.mx\/2017\/05\/08\/lessons-on-geography-and-globalized-calendars\/?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+EnlaceZapatista+%28Enlace+Zapatista%29#_edn10\" name=\"_ednref10\">[x]<\/a> and a bottle of water in their bag and go to the collective cornfield. That\u2019s what happened every day, and the path of the indigenous village continued its life of resistance and rebellion.<\/p>\n<p>But one day it rained very hard and a great big rock got dislodged from the mountainside and rolled down to block the path to the cornfield. The whole village went to see it. Yes, it was indeed a very big rock. They tried to move it but it wouldn\u2019t budge.<\/p>\n<p>So they had an assembly right then and there and shared thoughts on what to do.<\/p>\n<p>Some said oh well, we\u2019ll have to look for another place to make a cornfield.<\/p>\n<p>Others say no, that the land was already cleared and all that work would be for nothing if they didn\u2019t plant it.<\/p>\n<p>Others said that the mafia of power had put the rock there as part of a conspiracy against the Indigenous Governing Council of the National Indigenous Congress.<\/p>\n<p>They kept discussing the problem and various groups started to emerge: one group said that they had to pray to god to remove the rock; another group said god pul-lease, that they had to use science; and another group said that they had to investigate and uncover the tracks of the <em>chupacabras<\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/enlacezapatista.ezln.org.mx\/2017\/05\/08\/lessons-on-geography-and-globalized-calendars\/?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+EnlaceZapatista+%28Enlace+Zapatista%29#_edn11\" name=\"_ednref11\"><em><strong>[xi]<\/strong><\/em><\/a> Salinas\u2014de Gortari,<a href=\"http:\/\/enlacezapatista.ezln.org.mx\/2017\/05\/08\/lessons-on-geography-and-globalized-calendars\/?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+EnlaceZapatista+%28Enlace+Zapatista%29#_edn12\" name=\"_ednref12\">[xii]<\/a> not Pliego.<a href=\"http:\/\/enlacezapatista.ezln.org.mx\/2017\/05\/08\/lessons-on-geography-and-globalized-calendars\/?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+EnlaceZapatista+%28Enlace+Zapatista%29#_edn13\" name=\"_ednref13\">[xiii]<\/a> Because Salinas de Gortari was the bad Salinas and Salinas Pliego was the good one.<\/p>\n<p>So each group set out to do what they thought was necessary. The ones who thought they should pray brought incense and an image of the patron saint of the village, making a small altar and settling in there to pray their hearts out.<\/p>\n<p>Another group went to get their notebooks and tape measure and started measuring and calculating in order to create a lever out of a stick and move the rock that way.<\/p>\n<p>The other group went to get the detective kit, brand \u201cMy Happiness,\u201d and with a magnifying glass and microscope checked the rock carefully to see if the <em>chupacabras<\/em> had left hoof prints.<\/p>\n<p>There the three groups were, each carrying out what they thought was the best method to solve the problem, when a little girl approached. She came from the cornfield.<\/p>\n<p>They all surrounded her and started asking questions.<\/p>\n<p>The praying group asked her if god had send an angel that had flown her over the rock, and they began to shout \u201cIt\u2019s a miracle! It\u2019s a miracle!\u201d and to sing psalms and praises.<\/p>\n<p>The scientific group asked her how she had resolved the question of the distribution of leverage, strength, and resistance, taking out their notebooks to be ready to take notes.<\/p>\n<p>The third group demanded proof of the participation of the bad <em>chupacabras<\/em>, while they redacted a document in which the below-signed convoked others to support, with their vote, the current redeemer. The document would be published in the media owned by the good <em>chupacabras<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The little girl was silent and looked at them all strangely.<\/p>\n<p>When they finally stopped talking, she explained that when she had passed by that morning with a little boy, the <em>fucking<\/em> rock (that\u2019s what she said) was already there, and since they couldn\u2019t get through, she and the little boy had gone to get a machete and made another path around the <em>fucking<\/em> rock (that\u2019s how she said it). With her hand she gestured to the little path that did in fact go around the obstacle and connect back to the main path on the other side. The little boy beside her was quiet.<\/p>\n<p>Until that moment the three groups had not noticed the little path. They all celebrated and congratulated the little girl because she had solved the problem.<\/p>\n<p>The commissary launched into a speech praising the little girl for understanding the importance of the path to the cornfield and thus making the little detour.<\/p>\n<p>Everyone applauded and asked the little girl to speak.<\/p>\n<p>The girl went to the front of the assembly and explained:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cYou think I was thinking about this stuff you\u2019re saying? I just wanted to pick some Chene\u2019k Caribe flowers for my little sister to play with, and Pedrito here wanted to track the badger that tries to steal the corn,\u201d<\/em> and she showed the assembly the flowers she had picked, while the boy hid behind her.<\/p>\n<p>Everyone was silent and a little embarrassed. Finally the commissary said,<em> \u201cwell this calls for a party.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cSiiiii,\u201d <\/em>the rest said and went to start the party.<\/p>\n<p>The end.<\/p>\n<p><em>Defensa Zapatista<\/em> listened attentively to the story.<\/p>\n<p>The cat-dog went over to the corner where my machete was and, wagging his tail, barked and meowed at the little girl. <em>Defensa Zapatista<\/em> looked at him and, suddenly, stood up and exclaimed, \u201c<em>Of course!\u201d<\/em> and she went to pick up the machete.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cYou\u2019re going to make another path?\u201d <\/em>I asked her.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Path Shmath!\u201d <\/em>she replied, already in the doorway. \u201c<em>I\u2019m going to go look for Pedrito because collectively we\u2019re going to destroy the commissary\u2019s stage. I\u2019ll put Pedrito on guard duty in case the enemy approaches. And I\u2019m going to make another, much prettier stage than that of the commissary and we\u2019re going to use lots of flowers and colors and it\u2019s going to be so happy that all of the musicians and dancers are going to want to go to our stage and not the commissary\u2019s, which in any case is going to be a sad one because it belongs to the fucking men. And I\u2019m going to tell the musicians to play the song for when we win the game and I\u2019m going to convince the dancers to play on my team and that way there will be more of us, even if it takes awhile, there will be more of us.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Defensa Zapatista<\/em> left. I stayed in my hut, thinking about what part of my pedagogical method had failed.<\/p>\n<p>So now I\u2019m sitting outside the hut, waiting for someone to come tell me that <em>Defensa Zapatista<\/em> is doing her punishment at the school, with the cat-dog asleep in her lap as she writes 50 times in her notebook: <em>\u201cI should not pay attention to fucking SupGaleano\u2019s stories.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Fucking<\/em> thank you.<\/p>\n<p>SupGaleano<\/p>\n<p>April 2017<\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<p><b>Notes:<\/b><br \/>\n<small>[i] <em>Sospechosista<\/em> (suspiciousist), from <em>sospechosismo<\/em> (suspiciousism), a word which does not exist in Spanish, was popularized in 2004 by Santiago Creel, Secretary of Governance under Vicente Fox, who said \u201cI invite you all to leave behind the culture of suspiciousism,\u201d referring to questions about his having awarded several profitable contracts for new gambling halls to owners of Mexico\u2019s major corporate TV networks immediately prior to resigning from his post to run for president on the PAN party ticket.
