Brillan los machetes. Atenco llega a la Ciudad de M\u00e9xico para encabezar una marcha desde el \u00c1ngel de la Independencia al Z\u00f3calo. M\u00e1s de mil personas se suman en el camino. Corean: \u00a1Atenco vive! \u00a1La lucha sigue!<\/p>\n<p>La marcha cierra dos d\u00edas de actividades organizadas por el Frente de Pueblos en Defensa de la Tierra (FPDT) para marcar la represi\u00f3n brutal del 3 y 4 del mayo de 2006 en San Salvador Atenco y Texcoco, donde se daba una lucha en apoyo a los vendedores de flores. El terror policiaco de Mayo Rojo, alentado por los medios de comunicaci\u00f3n, fue un castigo contra un pueblo que logr\u00f3 echar abajo el proyecto estelar del gobierno de Vicente Fox en el 2002\u2013\u2013un aeropuerto que les hubiera despojado de sus tierras. <span id=\"more-12352\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Solo unos pocos d\u00edas antes, el Subcomandante Marcos hab\u00eda dicho en una visita al pueblo de Atenco: \u201cVenimos a reconocerles como nuestros hermanos mayores, porque nos han ense\u00f1ado tambi\u00e9n a desafiar al poderoso, a enfrentarlo y a defender con nuestra propia fuerza aquello que nos quieren quitar: la tierra, la libertad y la vida. Esta tierra digna de Atenco tiene mucho que ense\u00f1ar, no s\u00f3lo a nosotros como zapatistas, sino a toda la gente que est\u00e1 luchando\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Por eso tantos grupos y organizaciones en todas partes del pa\u00eds han invitado a los compas de Atenco a visitar sus comunidades y explicarles c\u00f3mo lograron la derrota del proyecto principal de Fox. Y cuando hace falta solidaridad, Atenco siempre responde.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/radiozapatista.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/atenco-4mayo4-.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-16638\" src=\"https:\/\/radiozapatista.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/atenco-4mayo4--350x233.jpg\" alt=\"atenco-4mayo4-\" width=\"350\" height=\"233\" srcset=\"https:\/\/radiozapatista.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/atenco-4mayo4--350x233.jpg 350w, https:\/\/radiozapatista.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/atenco-4mayo4-.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 350px) 100vw, 350px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Desde la camioneta del sonido en la marcha, escuchamos:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cQue nunca se olvide la invasi\u00f3n de 3,500 polic\u00edas federales y estatales en nuestro pueblo, los violentos cateos de casas, las golpizas sangrientas, los asesinatos de los j\u00f3venes Alexis Benhumea y Javier Cort\u00e9s, las detenciones de 207 compa\u00f1eros y compa\u00f1eras y la tortura sexual de por lo menos 26 mujeres, 11 de las cuales que llevan una demanda internacional contra el Estado.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>La represi\u00f3n del Mayo Rojo fue ordenada por el entonces gobernador del Estado de M\u00e9xico, Enrique Pe\u00f1a Nieto, ahora presidente de M\u00e9xico. \u00c9l est\u00e1 orgulloso de esto. Alardea de esto. Esa represi\u00f3n qued\u00f3 impune.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/sb_DX4HJ90o\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\u201cPero a\u00fan con todo lo que nos hicieron, nosotros no venimos como m\u00e1rtires. No venimos a llorar. Ahora enfrentamos un nuevo despojo, un nuevo plan de construir un aeropuerto en nuestras tierras. Y nosotros venimos a decir NO al aeropuerto de Enrique Pe\u00f1a Nieto. NO a este proyecto de muerte, y NO a la nueva Ley Eruviel, que legaliza la represi\u00f3n, \u201d dice Am\u00e9rica del Valle.<\/p>\n<p>Lo mismo se dijo el d\u00eda anterior en el acto cultural en Atenco. Al estar enfrentados con un horrible ruido del evento a un lado organizado por el gobierno local del PRI, obviamente dise\u00f1ado a arruinar el nuestro, seguimos con nuestro programa, animados por la m\u00fasica fogosa de Cayo Vicente, una marcha de machetes impulsada espont\u00e1neamente por la compa\u00f1era Alicia, los chistes del Mastuerzo y los sonidos bailables del Mexican Sound System. \u201cNos quieren ver tristes y abatidos\u201d, dijo Gabo Revueltas, \u201cpero \u00a1no les demos el gusto! \u00a1Bailar tambi\u00e9n es resistir!\u201d Y bailamos.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/radiozapatista.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/atenco-4mayo-2-.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-16639\" src=\"https:\/\/radiozapatista.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/atenco-4mayo-2--350x233.jpg\" alt=\"atenco-4mayo-2-\" width=\"350\" height=\"233\" srcset=\"https:\/\/radiozapatista.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/atenco-4mayo-2--350x233.jpg 350w, https:\/\/radiozapatista.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/atenco-4mayo-2-.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 350px) 100vw, 350px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Diversos contingentes de pueblos, estudiantes y trabajadores se suman a la marcha. Se destacan mantas y carteles solidarios de Ayotzinapa, Xochicuautla, Coyotepec y adherentes a la Sexta. Tambi\u00e9n se nota una manta en apoyo a los jornaleros de San Quint\u00edn con una convocatoria a un boicot a la empresa Driscoll. Un compa\u00f1ero hace uso del micr\u00f3fono para hablar de su situaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/radiozapatista.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/atenco-4mayo-9-.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-16640\" src=\"https:\/\/radiozapatista.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/atenco-4mayo-9--350x233.jpg\" alt=\"atenco-4mayo-9-\" width=\"350\" height=\"233\" srcset=\"https:\/\/radiozapatista.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/atenco-4mayo-9--350x233.jpg 350w, https:\/\/radiozapatista.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/atenco-4mayo-9-.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 350px) 100vw, 350px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>En la marcha nos encontramos con nuevos y viejos amigos \u2013con compa\u00f1eras y compa\u00f1eros que siempre estaban en los actos por la libertad de los presos pol\u00edticos de Atenco. Y gracias a una lucha constante con apoyo nacional e internacional, todas y todos salieron libres. A\u00fan cuando Ignacio del Valle y Felipe \u00c1lvarez fueron condenados a pasar lo dem\u00e1s de sus vidas en prisi\u00f3n, salieron en 4 a\u00f1os, mientras las personas perseguidas pudieron regresar a casa.<\/p>\n<p>Al pasar por el monumento a los 43 estudiantes desaparecidos de Ayotzinapa, el FPDT se toma un momento para expresar su solidaridad con los padres y madres y corear \u201c\u00a1Vivos se los llevaron, vivos los queremos!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>En el Z\u00f3calo se llama a resistir las incursiones del ej\u00e9rcito y las empresas que traen maquinaria a las tierras de los pueblos. En el blog del FPDT Atenco, se reporta que en la comunidad de Tocuila hace poco era necesario expulsarlos y quemar algunos de los materiales introducidos para construir la autopista Pir\u00e1mides-Texcoco, la cual es parte del proyecto aeroportuario. Y un d\u00eda despu\u00e9s, los campesinos excavaron zanjas para desviar parte de la corriente del agua e inundar las tierras, as\u00ed evitando la entrada de los constructores.<\/p>\n<p>Felipe \u00c1lvarez nota que todas las comunidades tienen amparos contra la construcci\u00f3n que no han sido respetados. \u201cLos medios de comunicaci\u00f3n nos difaman como revoltosos\u201d, dice, \u201cpero nosotros tenemos el derecho de defender nuestras tierras y es lo que vamos a hacer\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Habla una compa\u00f1era de 86 a\u00f1os con mucha experiencia. \u201cNo queremos el aeropuerto y no queremos tantas calles\u2026. El presidente de Atenco anda repartiendo dinero para comprar votos pero esto no le va a servir. Hace 15 a\u00f1os ganamos, y ahora vamos a ganar\u2026. \u00bfPara qu\u00e9 queremos carreteras? Estamos bien. Si ponen una carretera aqu\u00ed, \u00bfc\u00f3mo vamos a caminar? Es un pueblo, no una ciudad. Que nos dejen vivir como queramos. Pe\u00f1a Nieto tiene sus dineritos. Hablan de la manera en que ellos tambi\u00e9n han sido despojados y reprimidos, igual que gente en Chiapas, Guerrero, Ostula y tantos otros lugares. Se est\u00e1n organizando contra el saqueo con otros pueblos en La Campa\u00f1a Nacional en Defensa de la Madre Tierra y los Territorios. Hay que juntarnos, dicen. \u201c\u00a1Y no queremos la \u2018ley Eruviel\u2019!\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>El compa\u00f1ero de Tocuila reporta que las empresas siguen enviando a personas a invadir las tierras para meter maquinaria y materiales. Como estrategia para poder seguir resistiendo el proyecto del aeropuerto, se ha tomado la decisi\u00f3n de sembrar \u00e1rboles. Machetes gleam. Atenco is in town to head up a march from the Independence Angel to the Mexico City Zocalo. More than a thousand people join in. Chants ring out: Atenco lives! The struggle continues!<\/p>\n<p>The march brings two days of activities to a close \u2013\u2013 activities organized by the Peoples\u2019 Front in Defense of the Land (FPDT) to mark the brutal repression of May 3 \u2013 4, 2006, in San Salvador Atenco and Texcoco, where a struggle in support of local flower vendors was in full swing. The aim of the police terror, incited by the news media, was to punish campesinos who had succeeded in stopping the most important project of the Vicente Fox administration in 2002 \u2013\u2013an airport that would have robbed them of their lands.<\/p>\n<p>Just a few days before, in a visit to the town of Atenco, Subcomandante Marcos of the EZLN had said: \u201cWe\u2019ve come to recognize you as our older brothers because you\u2019ve shown us how to defy the powerful, confront them, and with our own hands, defend what they want to take from us: land, liberty and life. This noble land of Atenco has much to teach, not only to us as Zaptatistas, but to all people in struggle.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>This is why so many groups and organizations all over the country have invited the Atenco comrades to visit their communities and explain how they were able to defeat Fox\u2019s number one project. He\u2019s proud of it. He brags about it. That repression is cloaked in impunity.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/sb_DX4HJ90o\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut even with everything they did to us, we don\u2019t come here today as martyrs. We don\u2019t come to cry. We\u2019re now facing a new effort to dispossess us of our lands, a new plan to build an airport on our territory. And we\u2019ve come here to say NO to Enrique Pe\u00f1a Nieto\u2019s airport. NO to this death project. And NO to the new Eruviel Law, enacted by State of Mexico governor Eruviel \u00c1vila, to legalize repression,\u201d says Am\u00e9rica del Valle.<\/p>\n<p>The same thing was said at the cultural event the day before in Atenco. When we were assaulted by the horrendous noise of an adjacent event organized by the local PRI government, obviously designed to ruin our activity, we went right ahead with our program, urged on by Cayo Vicente\u2019s fiery music, a spontaneous march with machetes held high led by Alicia, jokes told by Mastuerzo, and the danceable sounds of the Mexican Sound System. \u201cThey want to see us sad and disheartened,\u201d said Gabo Revueltas, \u201cbut let\u2019s not give them that satisfaction! Dancing is resistance, too!\u201d And we danced.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/radiozapatista.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/atenco-4mayo-2-.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-16639\" src=\"https:\/\/radiozapatista.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/atenco-4mayo-2--350x233.jpg\" alt=\"atenco-4mayo-2-\" width=\"350\" height=\"233\" srcset=\"https:\/\/radiozapatista.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/atenco-4mayo-2--350x233.jpg 350w, https:\/\/radiozapatista.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/atenco-4mayo-2-.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 350px) 100vw, 350px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Different contingents of peoples, students and workers join the march. Banners and posters bear the names of Ayotzinapa, Xochicuautla, Coyotepec and Zapatista collectives. There\u2019s also a banner in support of the San Quintin day laborerers with a call to boycott the Driscoll company. And thanks to a constant struggle with national and international support, they all walked free. Even when Ignacio del Valle and Felipe \u00c1lvarez were sentenced to spend the rest of their lives in prison, they got out in four years, at the same time politically pursued people were able to come home.<\/p>\n<p>When the march passes by the monument to the 43 disappeared Ayotzinapa students, the FPDT takes a moment to express solidarity with the parents. They chant \u201cThey took them away alive. We want them back alive!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the Z\u00f3calo, a call goes out to support resistance to the incursions of the Mexican Army and construction companies trying to take machinery and materials into the lands of the peoples of Atenco and Texcoco. The FPDT Atenco blog reports that just a few days ago in the community of Tocuila, it was necessary to expel the invaders and burn some of their materials for the construction of the Pyramids\u2013Texcoco Toll Road, which is part of the airport project. And the next day, campesinos dug ditches to divert a stream of water and flood their lands in order to prevent more incursions.<\/p>\n<p>Felipe \u00c1lvarez notes that all the communities have protective orders against the construction, but these have not been respected. \u201cThe news media smear us as rabble rousers,\u201d he says, \u201cbut we have the right to defend our lands and that\u2019s what we\u2019re going to do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A comrade with years of experience speaks to us. She\u2019s 86 years old. \u201cWe don\u2019t want that airport and we don\u2019t want so many streets\u2026.The President of Atenco is handing out money to buy people\u2019s votes, but that\u2019s not going to save him\u2026.We won 15 years ago and we\u2019re going to win now\u2026.Why do we need so many highways? We\u2019re just fine the way we are. If they build a highway here, where are we going to walk? This is a town, not a city. Let us live the way we want to. Pe\u00f1a Nieto has lots of money.
