COMPA\u00d1EROS, COMPA\u00d1ERAS DE LA SEXTA NACIONAL E INTERNACIONAL Y TODOS LOS PRESENTES.<\/p>\n<p>Compa\u00f1eras y compa\u00f1eros, hoy estamos aqu\u00ed para celebrar el 22 aniversario del inicio de la guerra contra el olvido.<\/p>\n<p>Durante m\u00e1s de 500 a\u00f1os sufrimos la guerra que los poderosos de distintas naciones, lenguas, colores y creencias nos hicieron para aniquilarnos.<\/p>\n<p>Quisieron matarnos, sea matando nuestros cuerpos, sea matando nuestras ideas.<\/p>\n<p>Pero resistimos.<\/p>\n<p>Como pueblos originarios, como guardianes de la madre tierra, resistimos.<\/p>\n<p>No s\u00f3lo aqu\u00ed y no s\u00f3lo el color que somos de la tierra.<\/p>\n<p>En todos los rincones del mundo que dol\u00eda antes y duele ahora, hubo y hay gente digna y rebelde que resisti\u00f3, que resiste contra la muerte que impone el de arriba.<\/p>\n<p>El primero de enero de 1994, hace 22 a\u00f1os, hicimos p\u00fablico el \u201c\u00a1YA BASTA!\u201d que preparamos en silencio digno durante una d\u00e9cada.<\/p>\n<p>Callando nuestro dolor prepar\u00e1bamos as\u00ed el grito de nuestro dolor.<\/p>\n<p>De fuego fue entonces nuestra palabra.<\/p>\n<p>Para despertar a quien dorm\u00eda.<\/p>\n<p>Para levantar a quien ca\u00eda.<\/p>\n<p>Para indignar a quien se conformaba y se rend\u00eda.<\/p>\n<p>Para rebelar la historia.<\/p>\n<p>Para obligarla a decir lo que callaba.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Para develar la historia de explotaciones, asesinatos, despojos, desprecios y olvidos que se escond\u00eda detr\u00e1s de la historia de arriba.<\/p>\n<p>Esa historia de museos, estatuas, libros de texto, monumentos a la mentira.<\/p>\n<p>Con la muerte de los nuestros, con nuestra sangre, sacudimos la modorra de un mundo resignado a la derrota.<\/p>\n<p>No fueron s\u00f3lo palabras. La sangre de nuestros ca\u00eddos y ca\u00eddas en estos 22 a\u00f1os se sum\u00f3 a la de a\u00f1os, lustros, d\u00e9cadas, siglos anteriores.<\/p>\n<p>Tuvimos que elegir entonces y elegimos la vida.<\/p>\n<p>Por eso, entonces y ahora, para vivir morimos.<\/p>\n<p>Tan sencilla como nuestra sangre pintando las calles y muros de las ciudades que nos desprecian ahora como antes lo hicieron, fue nuestra palabra entonces.<\/p>\n<p>Y lo sigue siendo:<\/p>\n<p>Como bandera de lucha fueron nuestras 11 demandas: tierra, trabajo, alimentaci\u00f3n, salud, educaci\u00f3n, vivienda digna, independencia, democracia, libertad, justicia y paz.<\/p>\n<p>Estas demandas fueron las que nos hicieron levantarnos en armas porque es lo que nos hace falta a los pueblos originarios y la mayor\u00eda de las personas en este pa\u00eds y en todo el mundo.<\/p>\n<p>De esta manera, emprendimos nuestra lucha en contra de la explotaci\u00f3n, marginaci\u00f3n, humillaci\u00f3n, desprecio, olvido y por todas las injusticias que vivimos causadas por el mal sistema.<\/p>\n<p>Porque para los ricos y poderosos s\u00f3lo servimos para sus esclavos, para que as\u00ed ellos sean cada vez m\u00e1s ricos y nosotros cada vez m\u00e1s pobres.<\/p>\n<p>Despu\u00e9s de vivir tanto tiempo bajo esta dominaci\u00f3n y despojo, dijimos:<\/p>\n<p>\u00a1YA BASTA! \u00a1Y HASTA AQU\u00cd SE ACAB\u00d3 LA PACIENCIA!<\/p>\n<p>Y vimos que no nos qued\u00f3 otro camino m\u00e1s que tomar nuestras armas para matar o morir por una causa justa.<\/p>\n<p>Pero no est\u00e1bamos solos, solas.<\/p>\n<p>No lo estamos ahora.<\/p>\n<p>En M\u00e9xico y el Mundo la dignidad tom\u00f3 las calles y pidi\u00f3 espacio para la palabra.<\/p>\n<p>Entendimos entonces.<\/p>\n<p>A partir de ese momento cambi\u00f3 nuestra forma de lucha y fuimos y somos o\u00eddo atento y palabra abierta, porque desde un principio sab\u00edamos que una lucha justa del pueblo es por la vida y no por la muerte.<\/p>\n<p>Pero tenemos a un lado nuestras armas, no las dejaremos, estar\u00e1n con nosotros hasta el final.<\/p>\n<p>Porque vimos que donde nuestro o\u00eddo fue coraz\u00f3n abierto, el Mand\u00f3n opuso su palabra de enga\u00f1o, su coraz\u00f3n de ambici\u00f3n y mentira.<\/p>\n<p>Vimos que la guerra de arriba sigui\u00f3.<\/p>\n<p>Su plan y su objetivo era y es hacernos la guerra hasta exterminarnos. Por eso en lugar de resolver las justas demandas, prepar\u00f3 y prepara, hizo y hace la guerra con sus armamentos modernos, forma y financia grupos paramilitares, ofrece y reparte migajas aprovechando la ignorancia y la pobreza de algunos.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c9sos mandones de arriba son tontos. Pensaron que quienes estaban dispuestos a escuchar, estaban tambi\u00e9n dispuestos a venderse, a rendirse, a claudicar.<\/p>\n<p>Se equivocaron entonces.<\/p>\n<p>Se equivocan ahora.<\/p>\n<p>Porque nosotras las zapatistas, los zapatistas, tenemos bien claro que no somos limosneros o in\u00fatiles que esperan que todo se les resuelva solo.<\/p>\n<p>Somos pueblos con dignidad, con decisi\u00f3n y conciencia para luchar por la verdadera libertad y justicia para todas, para todos, para <strong><em>todoas<\/em><\/strong>. Sin importar su color, su raza, su g\u00e9nero, su creencia, su calendario, su geograf\u00eda.<\/p>\n<p>Por eso nuestra lucha no es local, ni regional, ni siquiera nacional. Es universal.<\/p>\n<p>Porque universales son las injusticias, los cr\u00edmenes, los despojos, los desprecios, las explotaciones.<\/p>\n<p>Pero tambi\u00e9n son universales la rebeld\u00eda, la rabia, la dignidad, el af\u00e1n de ser mejores.<\/p>\n<p>Por eso entendimos que era necesario construir nuestra vida nosotros mismos, nosotras mismas, con autonom\u00eda.<\/p>\n<p>En medio de las grandes amenazas, de los hostigamientos militares y paramilitares, y las constantes provocaciones del mal gobierno, empezamos a formar nuestro propio sistema de gobernar, nuestra autonom\u00eda, con nuestra propia educaci\u00f3n, nuestra propia salud, nuestra propia comunicaci\u00f3n, nuestra forma de cuidar y trabajar a nuestra madre tierra; nuestra propia pol\u00edtica como pueblo y nuestra propia ideolog\u00eda de c\u00f3mo queremos vivir como pueblos, con otra cultura.<\/p>\n<p>Donde otras, otros esperan que desde arriba se solucionar\u00e1 lo de abajo; nosotras, nosotros, zapatistas, empezamos a construir nuestra libertad como se siembra, como se construye, como se crece, es decir, desde abajo.<\/p>\n<p>Pero el mal gobierno intenta destruir y acabar nuestra lucha y resistencia con una guerra que cambia de intensidad como cambia su pol\u00edtica enga\u00f1osa, con sus malas ideas, con sus mentiras, usando sus medios de comunicaci\u00f3n para difundirlas y con la repartici\u00f3n de migajas en los pueblos ind\u00edgenas donde hay zapatistas, para as\u00ed dividir y comprar conciencias, aplicando de esta forma su plan de contrainsurgencia.<\/p>\n<p>Pero la guerra que viene de arriba, compa\u00f1eras, compa\u00f1eros, hermanas y hermanos, es siempre la misma: s\u00f3lo trae destrucci\u00f3n y muerte.<\/p>\n<p>Pueden cambiar las ideas y las banderas con las que llega, pero la guerra de arriba siempre destruye, siempre mata, nunca siembra como no sea el terror y la desesperanza.<\/p>\n<p>En medio de esa guerra tuvimos que caminar hacia lo que queremos.<\/p>\n<p>No pod\u00edamos sentarnos a esperar a que entendieran quienes no entienden ni siquiera que no entienden.<\/p>\n<p>No pod\u00edamos sentarnos a esperar a que el criminal renegara de s\u00ed mismo y de su historia y se convirtiera, arrepentido, en alguien bueno.<\/p>\n<p>No pod\u00edamos esperar una larga e in\u00fatil lista de promesas que ser\u00edan olvidadas unos minutos despu\u00e9s.<\/p>\n<p>No pod\u00edamos esperar a que lo otro, diferente pero igual en dolor y rabia, nos mirara y mir\u00e1ndonos se viera.<\/p>\n<p>No sab\u00edamos c\u00f3mo hacer.<\/p>\n<p>No hab\u00eda ni hay libro, manual o doctrina que nos dijera c\u00f3mo hacer para resistir y, al mismo tiempo, construir algo nuevo y mejor.<\/p>\n<p>Tal vez no perfecto, tal vez diferente, pero siempre nuestro, de nuestros pueblos, de las mujeres, hombres, ni\u00f1as y ancianos que con su coraz\u00f3n colectivo cubren la bandera negra con la estrella roja de cinco puntas y las letras que les dan no s\u00f3lo nombre, tambi\u00e9n compromiso y destino: <strong><em>E Z L N<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Entonces buscamos en nuestra historia ancestral, en nuestro coraz\u00f3n colectivo, y a los tumbos, con fallas y errores, fuimos construyendo esto que somos y que no s\u00f3lo nos mantiene con vida y resistiendo, sino que tambi\u00e9n nos levanta dignos y rebeldes.<\/p>\n<p>Durante estos 22 a\u00f1os de lucha de Resistencia y Rebeld\u00eda seguimos construyendo otra forma de vida, gobern\u00e1ndonos nosotros mismos como pueblos colectivos que somos, bajo los 7 principios del mandar obedeciendo, construyendo un nuevo sistema y otra forma de vida como pueblos originarios.<\/p>\n<p>Uno donde el pueblo manda y gobierno obedece.<\/p>\n<p>Y nuestro coraz\u00f3n sencillo lo ve que es lo m\u00e1s sano, porque nace y crece del mismo pueblo, es decir, es el mismo pueblo que opina, discute, piensa, analiza, propone y decide qu\u00e9 cosa es lo mejor para su beneficio, siguiendo el ejemplo que nos dejaron nuestros antepasados.<\/p>\n<p>Como iremos explicando despu\u00e9s, vemos que en las comunidades partidistas reinan el desamparo y la miseria, manda la holgazaner\u00eda y el crimen, la vida comunitaria est\u00e1 rota, lastimada ya mortalmente.<\/p>\n<p>El venderse al mal gobierno no s\u00f3lo no resolvi\u00f3 sus necesidades, sino que sum\u00f3 m\u00e1s horrores.<\/p>\n<p>Donde antes hab\u00eda hambre y pobreza, hoy las sigue habiendo, pero adem\u00e1s hay desesperanza.<\/p>\n<p>Las comunidades partidistas se han convertido en grupos de limosneros que no trabajan, s\u00f3lo esperan el siguiente programa gubernamental de ayuda, o sea esperan la pr\u00f3xima temporada electoral.<\/p>\n<p>Y esto no aparecer\u00e1 en ning\u00fan informe de gobierno municipal, estatal o federal, pero es la verdad que se puede ver en las comunidades partidistas: campesinos que no saben ya trabajar la tierra, casas de material vac\u00edas porque ni el cemento ni las l\u00e1minas se pueden comer, familias destruidas, comunidades que s\u00f3lo se re\u00fanen para recibir las limosnas gubernamentales.<\/p>\n<p>En nuestras comunidades tal vez no hay casa de cemento, ni televisiones digitales ni camiones \u00faltimo modelo, pero nuestra gente sabe trabajar la tierra. Lo que se pone en su mesa, la ropa que las viste, la medicina que las alivia, el saber que se aprende, la vida que transcurre es SUYA, producto de su trabajo y de su saber. No es regalo de nadie.<\/p>\n<p>Podemos decirlo sin pena: las comunidades zapatistas no s\u00f3lo est\u00e1n mejor que hace 22 a\u00f1os. Su nivel de vida es superior al de quienes se han vendido a los partidistas de todos los colores.<\/p>\n<p>Antes para saber si alguien era zapatista se ve\u00eda si tra\u00eda paliacate rojo o pasamonta\u00f1as.<\/p>\n<p>Ahora basta ver si sabe trabajar la tierra; si cuida su cultura; si estudia para conocer la ciencia y la t\u00e9cnica; si se respeta como mujeres que somos; si tiene la mirada en alto y limpia; si sabe que manda como colectivo; si ve los cargos de gobierno aut\u00f3nomo rebelde zapatista como servicio y no como negocio; si cuando le preguntan algo que no sabe, responde \u201cno lo s\u00e9\u2026 todav\u00eda\u201d; si cuando se burlan dici\u00e9ndole que los zapatistas ya no existen, que son muy pocos, responde \u201cno preocupas, ya vamos a ser m\u00e1s, de repente tarda, pero s\u00ed vamos a ser m\u00e1s\u201d; si mira lejos en calendarios y geograf\u00edas; si sabe que el ma\u00f1ana se siembra hoy.<\/p>\n<p>Pero pues s\u00ed, reconocemos que nos falta mucho por hacer, nos hace falta organizarnos m\u00e1s y mejor.<\/p>\n<p>Por eso nos tenemos que esforzar m\u00e1s por prepararnos para realizar m\u00e1s y mejor nuestros trabajos de gobernarnos, porque ah\u00ed viene de nuevo el mal de los males: el mal sistema capitalista.<\/p>\n<p>Y tenemos que saber c\u00f3mo enfrentarlo. Ya tenemos 32 a\u00f1os de experiencias de lucha de Rebeld\u00eda y Resistencia.<\/p>\n<p>Ya somos lo que somos.<\/p>\n<p>Somos el Ej\u00e9rcito Zapatista de Liberaci\u00f3n Nacional.<\/p>\n<p>Somos aunque no nos nombren.<\/p>\n<p>Somos aunque con silencios y calumnias nos olviden.<\/p>\n<p>Somos aunque no nos miren.<\/p>\n<p>Somos en el paso, en el camino, en el origen, en el destino.<\/p>\n<p>Y en lo que somos vemos, miramos, escuchamos dolores y sufrimientos cercanos y lejanos en calendarios y geograf\u00edas.<\/p>\n<p>Y miramos antes, y miramos ahora.<\/p>\n<p>Una noche cruenta, m\u00e1s si posible fuera, se tiende sobre el mundo.<\/p>\n<p>El Mand\u00f3n no s\u00f3lo se empe\u00f1a en seguir explotando, reprimiendo, despreciando y despojando.<\/p>\n<p>Est\u00e1 decidido a destruir el mundo entero si eso le da ganancias, dinero, paga.<\/p>\n<p>Est\u00e1 claro que viene lo peor para todas, todos, <strong><em>todoas<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Porque los grandes ricos multimillonarios de unos cuantos pa\u00edses, siguen con el objetivo de saquear todas las riquezas naturales en todo el mundo, todo lo que nos da vida como el agua, las tierras, bosques, monta\u00f1as, r\u00edos, aire; y todo lo que est\u00e1 bajo el suelo: oro, petr\u00f3leo, uranio, \u00e1mbar, azufre, carb\u00f3n, y otros minerales. Porque ellos no la consideran a la tierra como fuente de vida, sino como un negocio y todo lo convierten en mercanc\u00eda, y la mercanc\u00eda la convierten en dinero, y as\u00ed nos quieren destruir por completo.<\/p>\n<p>El mal y el malo tienen nombre, historia, origen, calendario, geograf\u00eda: es el sistema capitalista.<\/p>\n<p>No importa c\u00f3mo lo pinten, no importa el nombre que le pongan, no importa la religi\u00f3n que lo vista, no importa la bandera que levante.<\/p>\n<p>Es el sistema capitalista.<\/p>\n<p>Es la explotaci\u00f3n de la humanidad y del mundo que habita.<\/p>\n<p>Es el desprecio a todo lo que es diferente y que no se vende, no se rinde, no claudica.<\/p>\n<p>Es el que persigue, encarcela, asesina.<\/p>\n<p>Es el que roba.<\/p>\n<p>Frente a \u00e9l surgen, nacen, se reproducen, crecen y mueren, salvadores, l\u00edderes, caudillos, candidatos, gobiernos, partidos que ofrecen la soluci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>Como una mercanc\u00eda m\u00e1s, se ofertan las recetas para resolver los problemas.<\/p>\n<p>Tal vez alguien todav\u00eda crea que de arriba, de donde vienen los problemas, vendr\u00e1n las soluciones.<\/p>\n<p>Tal vez todav\u00eda hay quien cree en salvadores locales, regionales, nacionales y mundiales.<\/p>\n<p>Tal vez hay todav\u00eda quien espera que alguien haga lo que nos corresponde hacer a nosotros, nosotras mismas.<\/p>\n<p>Ser\u00eda muy bueno, s\u00ed.<\/p>\n<p>Todo f\u00e1cil, c\u00f3modo, sin mayor esfuerzo. S\u00f3lo levantar la mano, tachar una boleta, llenar un formulario, aplaudir, gritar una consigna, afiliarse a un partido pol\u00edtico, votar para botar a uno y que otro entre.<\/p>\n<p>Tal vez, decimos, pensamos nosotras, nosotros, zapatistas que somos lo que somos.<\/p>\n<p>Ser\u00eda muy bueno as\u00ed, pero no lo es.<\/p>\n<p>Porque lo que hemos aprendido como zapatistas que somos y sin que nadie nos lo haya ense\u00f1ado, como no sea nuestro propio paso, es que nadie, absolutamente nadie va a venir a salvarnos, a ayudarnos, a solucionar nuestros problemas, a aliviar nuestros dolores, a regalarnos la justicia que necesitamos y merecemos.<\/p>\n<p>S\u00f3lo lo que hagamos nosotras, nosotros, cada quien seg\u00fan su calendario y su geograf\u00eda, seg\u00fan su nombre colectivo, su pensamiento y su acci\u00f3n, su origen y su destino.<\/p>\n<p>Y tambi\u00e9n hemos aprendido, como zapatistas que somos, que es s\u00f3lo con organizaci\u00f3n que es posible.<\/p>\n<p>Aprendimos que si se indigna una, uno, <strong><em>unoa<\/em><\/strong>, es bonito.<\/p>\n<p>Que si se indignan varios, varias, muchas, muchos, <strong><em>muchoas<\/em><\/strong>, entonces una luz se enciende en un rinc\u00f3n del mundo y su luz alcanza a alumbrar por unos instantes toda la faz de la tierra.<\/p>\n<p>Pero tambi\u00e9n aprendimos que si esas indignaciones se organizan\u2026 \u00a1Ah!, entonces no es una luz moment\u00e1nea la que ilumina los caminos terrenales.<\/p>\n<p>Entonces es como un murmullo, como un rumor, como un temblor que empieza a sonar quedo primero, m\u00e1s fuerte despu\u00e9s.<\/p>\n<p>Como si este mundo fuera a parir otro mundo, uno mejor, m\u00e1s justo, m\u00e1s democr\u00e1tico, m\u00e1s libre, m\u00e1s humano\u2026 o humana\u2026 o <strong><em>humanoa<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Por eso hoy empezamos esta parte de nuestras palabras con una palabra ya de antes, pero que sigue siendo necesaria, urgente, vital: tenemos que organizarnos, prepararnos para luchar, por cambiar esta vida, por crear otra forma de vida, otra forma de gobernarnos, nosotros mismos los pueblos.<\/p>\n<p>Porque si no nos organizamos, seremos m\u00e1s esclavizados.<\/p>\n<p>Ya no hay nada ya de que confiar en el capitalismo. Absolutamente nada. Ya lo vivimos cientos de a\u00f1os su sistema, ya las padecimos sus 4 ruedas del carruaje del capitalismo: la explotaci\u00f3n, la represi\u00f3n, el despojo y el desprecio.<\/p>\n<p>Ya s\u00f3lo queda la confianza entre nosotras, nosotros mismos, donde nosotros, nosotras s\u00ed sabemos c\u00f3mo construir una nueva sociedad, un nuevo sistema de gobierno, con la vida justa y digna que queremos.<\/p>\n<p>Porque ahora nadie se salva en la tormenta de la hidra capitalista que destruir\u00e1 nuestras vidas.<\/p>\n<p>Ind\u00edgenas, campesin@s, obre@s, maestr@s, amas de casas, intelectuales, trabajadores y trabajadoras en general, porque hay muchos trabajadores que luchan por sobrevivir su vida diaria, unos con patr\u00f3n y otr@s no, pero que caen en la misma garra del capitalismo.<\/p>\n<p>O sea que no hay salvaci\u00f3n en el capitalismo.<\/p>\n<p>Nadie nos va dirigir, somos nosotr@s mism@s los que nos dirigimos, tom\u00e1ndonos en cuenta de c\u00f3mo lo pensamos resolver de cada situaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>Porque si pensamos que hay quien nos dirige, pues ya vimos c\u00f3mo nos dirigieron durante los cientos de a\u00f1os antes y en el sistema capitalista, no sirvi\u00f3 para nosotros los jodidos. Para ellos s\u00ed, porque ah\u00ed s\u00ed, s\u00f3lo sentados, ganaron dinero para vivir.<\/p>\n<p>A todos les dijeron \u201cvoten por m\u00ed\u201d, voy a luchar porque ya no haya m\u00e1s explotaci\u00f3n y ya cuando ya llegaron en el puesto donde se gana dinero sin sudar, autom\u00e1ticamente se olvidan de todo lo que dijeron, empiezan a crear m\u00e1s explotaci\u00f3n, a vender lo poco queda de la riqueza de nuestros pa\u00edses. \u00c9sos vende patrias son unos in\u00fatiles, hip\u00f3critas, par\u00e1sitos que no sirven.<\/p>\n<p>Por eso, compa\u00f1eros y compa\u00f1eras, la lucha no ha terminado, apenas estamos empezando, apenas llevamos 32 a\u00f1os, de los cuales 22 son p\u00fablicos.<\/p>\n<p>Por eso debemos unirnos m\u00e1s, organizarnos mejor para construir nuestra barca, nuestra casa, es decir nuestra autonom\u00eda, porque es la que nos va a salvar de la gran tormenta que se acerca, debemos fortalecer m\u00e1s nuestras \u00e1reas de trabajo y nuestros trabajos colectivos.<\/p>\n<p>No tenemos otro camino m\u00e1s que unirnos y organizarnos para luchar y defendernos de la gran amenaza del mal sistema capitalista, porque las maldades del capitalismo criminal que amenaza a la humanidad no va a respetar a nadie, va a barrer a todos sin distinci\u00f3n de raza, de partido, ni religi\u00f3n porque ya lo han demostrado durante muchos a\u00f1os que siempre han mal gobernado, amenazado, perseguido, encarcelado, torturado, desaparecido y asesinado a nuestros pueblos del campo y de la ciudad en todo el mundo.<\/p>\n<p>Por eso les decimos, compa\u00f1eros, compa\u00f1eras, ni\u00f1os y ni\u00f1as, j\u00f3venes y <strong><em>jovenas<\/em><\/strong>, ustedes como nuevas generaciones son el futuro de nuestros pueblos, de nuestra lucha y de nuestra historia, pero deben de entender que tienen una tarea y obligaci\u00f3n: seguir el ejemplo de nuestros primeros compa\u00f1eros, de nuestros compa\u00f1eros mayores de edad, de nuestros padres y abuelos y todos los que iniciaron esta lucha.<\/p>\n<p>Ellos y ellas ya nos marcaron el camino, ahora nos toca seguir y mantener ese camino, pero para esto solamente se logra organiz\u00e1ndonos en cada generaci\u00f3n y en generaci\u00f3n, entender eso y a organizarse para eso, y as\u00ed hasta llegar al final de nuestra lucha<\/p>\n<p>Porque ustedes como j\u00f3venes son parte importante de nuestros pueblos, por eso deben de participar en todos los niveles de trabajo que hay en nuestra organizaci\u00f3n y en todas las \u00e1reas de trabajo de nuestra autonom\u00eda, y que sean las generaciones que sigan dirigiendo nuestro propio destino con democracia, libertad y justicia as\u00ed como nos est\u00e1n ense\u00f1ando ahora nuestros compa\u00f1eros y compa\u00f1eras primeros.<\/p>\n<p>Compa\u00f1eras y compa\u00f1eros todos y todas, estamos seguros que vamos a lograr un d\u00eda lo que queremos, para todos todo, o sea nuestra libertad, porque ahora nuestra lucha est\u00e1 avanzando poco a poco y nuestras armas de lucha son nuestra resistencia, nuestra rebeld\u00eda y nuestra palabra verdadera que no hay monta\u00f1as ni fronteras que puedan impedirla, sino que llega hasta en el o\u00eddo y en los corazones de otros hermanos y hermanas en el mundo entero.<\/p>\n<p>Es decir que ya somos cada vez m\u00e1s los que entendemos la lucha en contra de la grav\u00edsima situaci\u00f3n de injusticia en que nos tienen, que causa el mal sistema capitalista en nuestro pa\u00eds y en el mundo.<\/p>\n<p>Tambi\u00e9n estamos claros que a lo largo de nuestra lucha ha habido y habr\u00e1 amenazas, represiones, persecuciones, desalojos, contradicciones y burlas de parte de los tres niveles de los malos gobiernos, pero debemos de estar claros que si el mal gobierno nos odia es porque vamos en un buen camino; y si nos aplaude es que nos estamos desviando en nuestra lucha.<\/p>\n<p>No olvidemos que nosotros somos los herederos de hace m\u00e1s de 500 a\u00f1os de lucha y resistencia. The blood of our fallen <em>compa\u00f1eros<\/em> in these 22 years was added to the blood of those from the preceding years, lustrums, decades, and centuries.<\/p>\n<p>We had to choose then and we chose life.<\/p>\n<p>That is why, both then and now, in order to live, we die.<\/p>\n<p>Our word then was as simple as our blood painting the streets and walls of the cities where they disrespect us now as they did then.<\/p>\n<p>And it continues to be:<\/p>\n<p>The banner of our struggle was our 11 demands: land, work, food, health, education, dignified housing, independence, democracy, freedom, justice, and peace.<\/p>\n<p>These demands were what made us rise up in arms because these were the things that we, the original people and the majority of people in this country and in the entire world, need.<\/p>\n<p>In this way, we began our struggle against exploitation, marginalization, humiliation, disrespect, oblivion and all of the injustices we lived that were caused by the bad system.<\/p>\n<p>Because we are only of service to the rich and powerful as their slaves, so that they can become richer and richer and we can become poorer and poorer.<\/p>\n<p>After living for such a long time under this domination and plunder we said:<\/p>\n<p>ENOUGH! THIS IS WHERE OUR PATIENCE ENDS!<\/p>\n<p>And we saw that we had no other choice then to take up our arms to kill or to die for a just cause.<\/p>\n<p>But we were not alone.<\/p>\n<p>Nor are we alone now.<\/p>\n<p>In Mexico and the World dignity took to the streets and asked for a space for the word.<\/p>\n<p>We understood.<\/p>\n<p>From that moment on, we changed our form of struggle. We were and we are an attentive ear and open word, because from the beginning we knew that a just struggle of the people is for life and not for death.<\/p>\n<p>But we have our arms at our sides, we have not gotten rid of them, they will be with us until the end.<\/p>\n<p>Because we see that where our ear was an open heart, the Ruler used his deceptive word, and ambitious and lying heart against us.<\/p>\n<p>We saw that the war from above continued.<\/p>\n<p>Their plan and objective was and is to make war against us until they exterminate us. It is universal.<\/p>\n<p>Because the injustices, crimes, dispossessions, disrespect, and exploitations are universal.<\/p>\n<p>But so are rebellion, rage, dignity, and the desire to be better.<\/p>\n<p>That is why we understood that it was necessary to build our life ourselves, with autonomy.<\/p>\n<p>In the midst of the major threats, military and paramilitary harassment, and the bad government\u2019s constant provocations, we began to form our own system of governing\u2014our autonomy\u2014with our own education system, our own health care, our own communication, our way of caring for and working on mother earth; our own politics as a people and our own ideology about how we want to live as communities, with an other culture.<\/p>\n<p>Where others hope that those above will solve the problems of those below, we Zapatistas began to build our freedom as it is sown, how it is constructed, where it grows, that is to say, from below.<\/p>\n<p>But the bad government tries to destroy and bring an end to our struggle and resistance with a war that changes in intensity as it changes its deceptive politics, with its bad ideas, with its lies, using the media to spread them, and by handing out crumbs in the indigenous communities where Zapatistas live in order to divide and to buy off people\u2019s consciences, thus implementing their counterinsurgency plan.<\/p>\n<p>But the war that comes from above, <em>compa\u00f1eras, compa\u00f1eros<\/em>, brothers and sisters, is always the same: it only brings destruction and death.<\/p>\n<p>The ideas and flags may change with whoever is in office, but the war of above always destroys, always kills, never sows anything other than terror and hopelessness.<\/p>\n<p>In the middle of this war, we have had to walk toward what we want.<\/p>\n<p>We could not sit and wait for the understanding of those who don\u2019t even understand that they don\u2019t understand.<\/p>\n<p>We could not sit and wait for the criminal to repudiate himself and his history and convert himself, repentant, into a good person.<\/p>\n<p>We could not sit and wait for a large and useless list of promises that will be forgotten a few minutes after they are made.<\/p>\n<p>We could not wait for the other, different, but with the same pain and rage, to look at us and in looking at us, see.<\/p>\n<p>We did not know how to do it.<\/p>\n<p>There was no book, manual, or doctrine that told us what to do in order to resist, and simultaneously, to build something new and better.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe not perfect, maybe different, but always ours, our people\u2019s, the women, men, children and elders who, with their collective heart, cover the black flag with a red star with five points and the letters that give them not only a name, but also a commitment and destiny: <strong>EZLN.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>And so we searched in our ancestral history, in our collective heart, and through the stumbles, through flaws and mistakes, we have been building that which we are and that which not only keeps us going with life and resistance, but also raises us up dignified and rebellious.<\/p>\n<p>During these 22 years of struggle of Resistance and Rebellion, we have continued to build another form of life, governing ourselves as the collective peoples that we are, according to the seven principles of lead by obeying, building a new system and another form of life as original peoples.<\/p>\n<p>One where the people command and the government obeys.<\/p>\n<p>And we see, from our simple heart, that this is the healthiest way, because it is born and grows from the people themselves. It is the people themselves who give their opinions, discuss, think, analyze, make proposals, and decide what is best for them, following the example of our ancestors.<\/p>\n<p>As we will be explaining in more detail later, we see that neglect and poverty reign in the <em>partidista<\/em> [political party followers] communities, they are run by laziness and crime and community life is broken, now fatally torn apart.<\/p>\n<p>Selling out to the bad government not only did not resolve their basic problems, but gave them more horrors to deal with. Where before there was hunger and poverty, now there is hunger, poverty, and desperation. The <em>partidista<\/em> communities have become crowds of beggars who don\u2019t work, who only wait for the next government aid program, that is, the next electoral season.<\/p>\n<p>This doesn\u2019t of course show up in any federal, state, or municipal government report, but it is the truth and can be seen in the <em>partidista<\/em> communities: peasant farmers who don\u2019t know how to work the land anymore; concrete block houses with aluminum roofs that are empty because one can eat neither concrete nor tin; communities that only come together to receive government crumbs.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps in our communities there aren\u2019t cement houses, or digital televisions, or brand new trucks, but our people know how to work the land. The food on their tables, the clothes they wear, the medicine they take, the knowledge they learn, the life they live is THEIRS, the product of their work and their knowledge. It isn\u2019t a handout from anyone.<\/p>\n<p>We can say this without shame: the Zapatista communities are not only better off than they were 22 years ago; their quality of life is better than those who sold out to political parties of all colors and stripes.<\/p>\n<p>Before, in order to know if someone was Zapatista, you checked to see if they had a red handkerchief or a balaclava.<\/p>\n<p>Now it is enough to see if they work the land, if they take care of their culture, if they study science and technology, if they respect the women that we are, if their gaze is straight and clear, if they know that it is the collective that rules, if they see the job of the autonomous Zapatista government in rebellion as a service and not a business; if when you ask them something they don\u2019t know they respond \u201cI don\u2019t know\u2026yet\u201d; if when someone mocks them saying that the Zapatistas no longer exist or are very few they respond, \u201cdon\u2019t worry, there will be more of us, it may take awhile, but there will be more\u201d; if their gaze reaches far in calendars and geographies; if they know that tomorrow is planted today.<\/p>\n<p>We recognize of course that there is much left to do, we must organize ourselves better and organize ourselves more.<\/p>\n<p>That is why we must make an even greater effort to prepare ourselves to more effectively and more extensively carry out the work of governing ourselves, because the worst of the worst, the capitalist system, will come back at us again.<\/p>\n<p>We have to know how to confront it. We have 32 years of experience already in our struggle of rebellion and resistance.<\/p>\n<p>And we have become what we are.<\/p>\n<p>We are the Zapatista Army for National Liberation.<\/p>\n<p>This is what we are although they do not name us.<\/p>\n<p>This is what we are although through silence and slander they forget us.<\/p>\n<p>This is what we are although they don\u2019t see us.<\/p>\n<p>This is what we are through our step, on our path, in our origin and our destiny.<\/p>\n<p>We look at what was before, and what is now.<\/p>\n<p>A bloody night, worse than before if that is possible, extends over the world.<\/p>\n<p>The Ruler is not only set on continuing to exploit, repress, disrespect, and dispossess, but is determined to destroy the entire world if in doing so it can create profits, money, pay.<\/p>\n<p>It is clear that the worst is coming for all of us.<a href=\"http:\/\/enlacezapatista.ezln.org.mx\/2016\/01\/02\/words-of-the-ezln-on-the-22nd-anniversary-of-the-beginning-of-the-war-against-oblivion\/?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+EnlaceZapatista+%28Enlace+Zapatista%29#_edn5\" name=\"_ednref5\">[v]<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The rich multimillionaires of a few countries continue with their objective to loot the natural riches of the entire world, everything that gives us life like water, land, forests, mountains, rivers, air; and everything that is below the ground: gold, oil, uranium, amber, sulfur, carbon, and other minerals.<\/p>\n<p>They don\u2019t consider the land as a source of life, but as a business where they can turn everything into a commodity, and commodities they turn into money, and in doing this they will destroy us completely.<\/p>\n<p>The bad and those who carry it out have a name, history, origin, calendar, geography: the capitalist system.<\/p>\n<p>It doesn\u2019t matter what color they paint it, what name they give it, what religion they dress it up as, what flag they raise; it is the capitalist system.<\/p>\n<p>It is the exploitation of humanity and the world we inhabit.<\/p>\n<p>It is disrespect and contempt for everything that is different and that doesn\u2019t sell out, doesn\u2019t give up, and doesn\u2019t give in.<\/p>\n<p>It is the system that persecutes, incarcerates, murders.<\/p>\n<p>It steals.<\/p>\n<p>At the head of this system there are figures that emerge, reproduce, grow, and die: saviors, leaders, <em>caudillos<\/em>, candidates, governments, parties that offer their solutions.<\/p>\n<p>They offer recipes, as one more commodity, to resolve problems.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps someone out there still believes that from above, where problems are made, will also come solutions.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps there is still someone who believes in local, regional, national, and global saviors.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps there are those who still hope that someone who will do what we must do ourselves.<\/p>\n<p>That would be nice, yes.<\/p>\n<p>Everything would be so easy, comfortable, not requiring too much effort. It would mean just raising one\u2019s hand, marking a ballot, filling out a form, applauding, shouting a slogan, affiliating oneself with a political party, and voting to throw one out and let another in.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps, we Zapatistas say, perhaps, we think, we who are what we are.<\/p>\n<p>It would be nice if things were like that, but they aren\u2019t.<\/p>\n<p>What we have learned as Zapatistas, and without anyone or anything except our own path as teacher, is that no one, absolutely no one is going to come and save us, help us, resolve our problems, relieve our pain, or bring us the justice that we need and deserve.<\/p>\n<p>There is only what we do ourselves, everyone in their own calendar and geography, in their own collective name, in their own thinking and action, their own origin and destiny.<\/p>\n<p>We have also learned, as Zapatistas, that this is only possible with organization.<\/p>\n<p>We learned that it is good if one person<a href=\"http:\/\/enlacezapatista.ezln.org.mx\/2016\/01\/02\/words-of-the-ezln-on-the-22nd-anniversary-of-the-beginning-of-the-war-against-oblivion\/?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+EnlaceZapatista+%28Enlace+Zapatista%29#_edn6\" name=\"_ednref6\">[vi]<\/a> gets angry.<\/p>\n<p>But that if more people, many<a href=\"http:\/\/enlacezapatista.ezln.org.mx\/2016\/01\/02\/words-of-the-ezln-on-the-22nd-anniversary-of-the-beginning-of-the-war-against-oblivion\/?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+EnlaceZapatista+%28Enlace+Zapatista%29#_edn7\" name=\"_ednref7\">[vii]<\/a> people get angry, a light ignites in one corner of the world and its glow can be seen, for a moment, across the entire surface of the earth.<\/p>\n<p>But we also learned that if these angers organize themselves\u2026 Ah! Then we have not just a momentary flash that illuminates the earth\u2019s surface.<\/p>\n<p>Then what we have is a murmur, like a rumor, a tremor that begins quietly and grows stronger.<\/p>\n<p>It is as if this world was about to birth another, a better one, more just, more democratic, more free, more human\u2026 or <em>humana<\/em>\u2026 or <strong><em>humanoa<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>That is why today we begin our words with a word from awhile ago already, but one that continues to be necessary, urgent, vital: we have to organize ourselves, prepare ourselves to struggle to change this life, to create another way of living, another way to govern ourselves as peoples.<\/p>\n<p>Because if we don\u2019t organize, we will be enslaved.<\/p>\n<p>There is nothing to trust in capitalism. Absolutely nothing. We have lived with this system for hundreds of years, and we have suffered under its 4 wheels: exploitation, repression, dispossession, and disdain. Now all we have is our trust in each other, in ourselves. And we know how to create a new society, a new system of government, the just and dignified life that we want.<\/p>\n<p>Now no one is safe from the storm of the capitalist hydra that will destroy our lives, not indigenous people, peasant farmers, workers, teachers, housewives, intellectuals, or workers in general, because there are many workers who struggle to survive daily life, some with a boss and others without, but all caught in the clutches of capitalism.<\/p>\n<p>In other words, there is no salvation within capitalism.<\/p>\n<p>No one will lead us; we must lead ourselves, thinking together about how we will resolve each situation.<\/p>\n<p>Because if we think that there is someone to lead us, well we have already seen how they lead during the last several hundred years of the capitalist system; it didn\u2019t work for us, the poor, at all. It worked for them, yes, because just sitting there they earned money to live on.<\/p>\n<p>They told everyone \u201cvote for me,\u201d \u201cI will fight for an end to exploitation,\u201d and as soon as they take office where they can earn money without sweat, they automatically forget everything they said and begin to create more exploitation, to sell the little that is left of the riches of our countries. Those sell-outs are useless hypocrites, parasite good-for-nothings.<\/p>\n<p>That is why, <em>compa\u00f1eros<\/em> and <em>compa\u00f1eras<\/em>, the struggle is not over, we are just barely getting started. We\u2019ve only been at this for 32 years, 22 of which were public.<\/p>\n<p>That is why we must better unite ourselves, better organize ourselves in order to construct our boat, our house\u2014that is, our autonomy. That is what is going to save us from the great storm that looms. We must strengthen our different areas of work and our collective tasks.<\/p>\n<p>We have no other possible path but to unite ourselves and organize ourselves to struggle and defend ourselves from the great threat that is the capitalist system. Because the criminal capitalism that threatens all of humanity does not respect anyone; it will sweep aside all of us regardless of race, party, or religion. This has been demonstrated to us over many years of bad government, threats, persecution, incarceration, torture, disappearances, and murder of our peoples of the countryside and the city all over the world.<\/p>\n<p>That is why we say, <em>compa\u00f1eros, compa\u00f1eras<\/em>, children, young people [<em>j\u00f3venes<\/em> and <em>jovenas<\/em>]: you new generations are the future of our people, of our struggle and our history. But you must understand that you have a task and an obligation: to follow the example of our first <em>compa\u00f1eros<\/em>, of our elders, of our parents and grandparents and all those who began this struggle.<\/p>\n<p>They have already laid a path; now it is our job to follow and maintain it. But we can only achieve this by organizing ourselves generation after generation, understanding this task and organizing ourselves to carry it out, and continuing this until we reach the end of our struggle.<\/p>\n<p>You as young people are an important part of our communities; that is why you must participate in all levels of work in our organization and in all areas of our autonomy. Let each generation continue to lead us toward our destiny of democracy, freedom, and justice, just as our first <em>compa\u00f1eros<\/em> and <em>compa\u00f1eras<\/em> are teaching us now.<\/p>\n<p><em>Compa\u00f1eros<\/em> and <em>compa\u00f1eras<\/em>, all of you, we are sure that we will one day achieve what we want: everything for everyone, nothing for us\u2014that is, our freedom. Today our struggle is advancing little by little. Our weapons of struggle are our resistance, our rebellion, and our honest word, which no mountain nor border can block. It will reach the ears and hearts of brothers and sisters all over the world.<\/p>\n<p>Every day there are more people who understand that the cause of our struggle against the grave situation of injustice we live is the capitalist system in our country and in the world.<\/p>\n<p>We also know that over the course of our struggle there have been and will be threats, repression, persecution, dispossession, contradictions, and mockery from the three levels of bad government. But we should be clear that the bad government hates us because we are on a good path; if it applauds us we have detoured from our struggle.<\/p>\n<p>We must not forget that we are the heirs of more than 500 years of struggle and resistance.
