En esta ocasión queremos compartir con todas y todos la preocupación por los últimos hechos ocurridos en Chiapas, en donde el Gobierno del estado, encabezado por Juan Sabines Guerrero, ha apuntado todos su recursos y aparato estatal para atacar a defensores de derechos humanos, organizaciones sociales y periodistas en el Estado.

In this program we want to share with our listeners our concern for the latest events in Chiapas, where the state government, headed by Juán Sabines Guerrero, has aimed all of its resources and state apparatus to attack human rights defenders, social organizations, and journalists in the state.

La discusión cubre la difícil historia de la lucha legal de las hermanas en contra del ejército mexicano y el suceso reciente en que el gobernador de chiapas ha tratado de resolver la disputa con el dinero — pero sin reconocer los crímenes cometidos por los soldados.

Interview with Vivian Newdick of the Comité Hermanas González, regarding the case of three tzeltal women who were gang-raped by mexican soldiers at a military checkpoint in 1994, just months after the zapatista uprising. Discussion covers the difficult history of the sisters’ legal battle against the mexican military as well as recent developments in which the current governor of chiapas has attempted to settle the case with an offer of money — but without any acknowledgment of wrongdoing on the part of the soldiers.

En el momento en que ingresan estaba transmitiendo el compañero Carlos Martínez, de 14 años, estudiante de preparatoria y joven de la colonia que tenía su programa musical, mismo que fue detenido. On Tuesday Oct 12 police forces broke into the facilities of Radio Proletaria in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas, to tear down the community radio station which for the last 5 years had been working peacefully. At the time, the 14-year-old compañero Carlos Martínez, a high school student, was transmitting; he was detained. The Fray Bartolomé de las Casas Human Rights Center published this bulletin.
