We are women, men, grandfathers and grandmothers, boys and girls, of the Popular Indigenous Council of Guerrero-Emiliano Zapata (CIPOG-EZ). We are Na Savi, Me pháá, Ñamnkue, Nahua, Afro-Mexican and Mestizo peoples of the state of Guerrero. We are again raising our voice with pain and rage. On the evening of January 24th, 2021, the Nahua community of Tula, Guerrero was attacked.

Again, the narco-paramilitary group, Los Ardillos, shot at the civilian population. Fortunately, there are no victims of this new shooting. However, it is the continuation of terror that this criminal group imposes on our Nahua communities.

This attack adds to the others carried out on June 23rd, July 20th, November 26th and December 27th of 2019. Then January 1st, February 10th, February 12th, July 11-12th of 2020. Now, this new attack on January 24th, 2021.

We hold responsible the three levels of government for continuing with a policy of tolerance providing impunity to the criminal groups that attack us. The same is done with our Zapatista brothers in Chiapas, where we know that since January 18th, paramilitaries have also been shooting at them. In Chiapas, as in Guerrero, the silence of the local, state and federal governments also continues. In Guerrero, they say no, it is because PRI is in charge of the state government, and that its complicated, and whatever other excuse. And in Chiapas, it is all MORENA, and the same thing happens. The bad governments blame each other and nobody does anything, justice isn’t served, and they continue attacking us with impunity.

We have no other choice than to continue our resistance and our organization, demanding justice, democracy and peace for our communities in Guerrero and for our Zapatista brothers and sisters. We ask that the men and women with good hearts in Mexico and the world do not abandon us. This war against the people is only going to get worse and worse because this government justifies everything in order to give continuity to the extermination.

Sincerely,

From the heart of the community territory in resistance of the Montaña Baja of Guerrero

Popular Indigenous Council of Guerrero-Emiliano Zapata (CIPOG-EZ)
