“Though you are far away, your actions for the incarcerated compañeros are helping us. What you are doing makes us happy. Because you are supporting us. It is true that five compas were freed and that we do not only want five freed. We want all of them to be free.”

– Words from Amalia from the “Second Video Message from San Sebastian Bachajón”

To our sisters and brothers of the Ejido of San Sebastian Bachajón:

To our Zapatista sisters and brothers:

To our compañer@s of The Other Campaign:

To our compañer@s of the Zezta Internazional:

To the adherents of the International Campaign in Defense of El Barrio and our allies across the world:

To the civil society in Mexico and the world:

We want to share this first update on the call to action for the “5 Days of Worldwide Action for the Bachajón 5”, which will take place April 1st to the 5th

First – Once again, our sisters and brothers of San Sebastian Bachajón have successfully broken down the neoliberal border, which those from above impose upon us, by sending us a new video-message from Chiapas to El Barrio, NYC. The video-message includes an account of what has taken place since the Worldwide Day of Action for the Liberation of the Political Prisoners of San Sebastian Bachajón. In addition, they send special messages to all those who took part in the actions at the national and international levels.

Second – The new video-message will be available in several languages. If you wish to obtain a copy to screen for an informative forum, please do not hesitate to contact us at movimientoporjusticiadelbarrio@yahoo.com.

Third – Here in New York, one of the activities that Movement for Justice in El Barrio will organize as part of the “5 Days of Worldwide Action for the Bachajón 5” is a community forum, wherein we will present the “Second Video Message of San Sebastian Bachajón.”

We will also organize a protest at the Mexican Consulate here in New York to demand that the repressive PAN president Felipe Calderón and the repressive PRD governor Juan Sabines Guerrero liberate the 5 political prisoners of San Sebastian Bachajón.

Fourth – Since we launched the worldwide call to action, we have received many supportive responses. There will be demonstrations in front of Mexican embassies and consulates in different parts of the world. We would like to thank those who have responded and circulated the global convocation. To those who have yet to contact us regarding your participation, we remind you to please let us know as soon as possible if you will participate. You may reach us by email at movimientoporjusticiadelbarrio@yahoo.com.

Fifth – We also wish to inform you that, in light of the preparation for the five days of protest and the work surrounding its diffusion, this week a delegation will travel to Canada to speak on our struggle against displacement in East Harlem, NYC. While in Canada, we will present a public forum on the dignified struggle of San Sebastian Bachajón and will ask the good-hearted people in attendance to join the actions for the liberation of our brothers and sisters of San Sebastian Bachajón.

That is all for now, compas.

We send you embraces of love and solidarity.
