Miles llegan de una marcha que interrumpió el paseo ciclista dominical con consignas anticapitalistas. El hemiciclo a Juárez está intervenido, a pesar de las vallas, colorido entre las jacarandás moradas y los mensajes rojinegros.

“Nos sumamos al llamado zapatista de iniciar un proceso de organización y participación para realizar una campaña mundial en contra de las guerras del capital, cualquiera que sea nuestra geografía, organizaremos conciertos, encuentros, festivales, reuniones. Todas las artes contra todas las guerras”, dice en el micrófono el sociólogo activista Raúl Romero.

Sunday the 13th

To the sixth in Mexico and abroad:
To those who signed the Declaration for Life:
To honest people all over the world:

The Zapatista communities, in agreement with various individuals, groups, collectives, organizations, and movements from across SLUMIL K´AJXEMK´OP, hereby call for protests and mobilizations against ALL CAPITALIST WARS currently being waged in multiple corners of the planet. These wars are happening not just in Ukraine, but also in Palestine, Kurdistan, Syria, on the Mapuche people, on all the originary peoples all over the world, and upon so many different emancipatory processes that are attacked, persecuted, murdered, silenced, and distorted.

As our own response to this call, we will participate in mobilizations to be held Sunday March 13, 2022, and continue to protest wars perpetrated by the system across the world.

We therefore propose the launch of a global campaign against all capital’s wars, in whatever geography they are waged, consisting of concerts, gatherings, festivals, meetings, and so on, in a campaign of the arts against the wars.

We call on all honest people, groups, collectives, organizations, and movements in Mexico and abroad to participate in activities demanding a halt to all wars, starting on Sunday the 13th, and in accordance with their own times and ways and their own independence and autonomy.

For our part, thousands of Zapatistas from our communities will carry out demonstrations in the caracoles, in the county seats of San Cristóbal de las Casas, Yajalón, Palenque, Ocosingo, Las Margaritas, and Altamirano, and in the communities along the highway.

All of our arts, our resistances, and our rebellions against all of the wars!

After the battle, no landscape will remain
(On the Russian army’s invasion of Ukraine)

To the Sixth in Mexico and abroad:
Compañer@s, brothers and sisters:

These are our words and thoughts about what is occurring now in the geography called Europe:

First: There is an aggressor: the Russian army. Big capital’s interests are at play on both sides. It is the peoples of Russia and Ukraine (and soon, perhaps, the peoples of other geographies near or far) who are suffering because of the crazed delusions of some and the cunning economic calculations of others. As Zapatistas, we do not support either state but rather those who are struggling for life against the system.

During the multinational invasion of Iraq (nearly 19 years ago), headed by United States’ army, there were protests all over the world against that war. No one in their right mind thought that opposing the invasion meant supporting Saddam Hussein. The situation today is similar, though not the same. Neither Zelensky nor Putin. No to the war!

Second: Different governments have allied themselves with one side or the other based on economic calculations devoid any of humanist considerations. For these governments and their “ideologues” there are good and bad interventions, invasions and destructive acts. The good ones are those carried out by their allies and the bad ones are those perpetrated by their opponents. The applause for Putin’s criminal arguments justifying the military invasion of Ukraine will become laments when the same words are used to justify the invasion of other peoples whose destruction does not please big capital.

Me pongo a escribir esto tratando de contener la rabia y la indignación que me producen las reacciones de la izquierda occidental y de la sociedad en general sobre el contraataque ruso contra Ucrania.

La verdad es que no espero gran cosa con esto. Tengo de sobra comprobado que no hay más ciego que el que no quiere ver, y que por mucho que todos repitáis mil veces que la tele manipula, seguís bailando al ritmo que os marcan desde los medios de masas de occidente.

Desde ayer he visto las redes sociales llenas de cartelitos de NO A LA GUERRA a los que habéis quitado los casi 20 años de telarañas desde la guerra de Irak.

Podría decir que esos mismos carteles han estado olvidados en el fondo del cajón de la infamia, mientras Israel masacraba Palestina. Mientras EE.UU. arrasaba Afganistán, o Libia, en bombardeos masivos que han causado la muerte de mas de 150.000 personas, incluyendo miles de niños. Muertes que EE.UU. se ha negado a investigar. Pero decir todo esto, sería demasiado fácil. Podría decir que cuando los medios os dijeron otra vez, que al igual que con Libia había que intervenir en Siria, os habéis mantenido callados mientras USA atacaba a un país soberano y saqueaba sus reservas de petróleo.

También podría decir que en lo que va de mes de febrero del 2022 , ha habido muertos en Palestina, en Damasco por bombardeos de Israel, al igual que en Yemen o en Somalia. Y vuestros cartelitos seguían olvidados.

También podría decir que las políticas occidentales han causado un genocidio constante en las aguas mediterráneas, pero seria poner en bandeja el que 4 caraculos me tachen de demagogia. Se ve que hay muertos que importan, y otros que no.

Como decía Malcolm X, tened cuidado con los medios de comunicación porque si no vais a acabar defendiendo a los opresores.

To the organizations, movements, groups, collectives, originary peoples and individuals from the different geographies of the land today known as “Slumil K’ajxemk’op”.[1]

From the Zapatista Extemporaneous [La Extemporánea][2] delegation:

Compañeras, compañeroas, compañeros:

Hermanoas, sisters, and brothers:

We send you warm greetings from the mountains of southeastern Mexico and can report that all of the compañeras and compañeros from the airborne delegation who visited you all in each of your geographies during the months of September, October, November, and December of 2021 have returned to their respective towns and positions.

As of 9:34 PM Zapatista time (8:34 PM Mexico time) on December 14, or 3:34 AM on December 15 Slumil K´ajxemk´op time, everyone had arrived at their respective villages, towns, and positions.

Each of us returned in one piece and in good health. We are all moved and touched by the days and nights that you allowed us to share with you, and we return with a life-long wound in our hearts which we will not allow to close.

It is now time for us to review our notes to inform our towns and communities of all that we learned and received from you: your histories, your struggles, your resistance, your indomitable existence, and above all, the embrace of humanity we felt from each of your hearts.

Everything we brought you came from our people. Everything we received from you is for our communities.

For all this–for your hospitality, your fellowship, your word, your listening, your gaze, your food and drink, your lodging, your company, your history and for the collective embrace from the heart that you are–we say:

El pasado domingo 7 de noviembre de 2021, en un estadio de Slumil K’ajxemk’op, en Roma, Italia, las mujeres mayas zapatistas saltaron a la cancha vestidas de color morado, todas con su representativo número 7 en la espalda (ver comunicado del EZLN “Después de los 17. (La sección miliciana Ixchel-Ramona)”).

En un evento deportivo público, LA PAZ (Libre Asamblea Pensando-Practicando la Autonomía Zapatista) convocó a las equipas solidarias de Hic Sunt Leones (Boloña), Ancona Respect, Guastafeste (Roma), Atlético San Lorenzo (Roma) y Torpedo (Roma) para jugar fútbol y rugby con la selección femenina del EZLN autodenominada Ixchel-Ramona. El torneo rebelde sucedió en un estadio defendido por el movimiento squat u okupa en tierras insumisas italianas, el cual anteriormente era un galgodromo donde se realizaban apuestas a costa del sufrimiento canino. Estas instalaciones fueron recuperadas por colectivos que lo gestionan de manera autónoma para llevar a cabo diversas actividades culturales y deportivas. Una diversidad de colectivos agrupados en LA PAZ colaboraron para gestionar y organizar la Gira por la Vida por Italia. Prepararon la concentración anterior a la salida hacia la península ibérica de todas las delegaciones de los grupos de Escucha y Palabra del EZLN, femeninos y masculinos, incluyendo al Comando Palomitas, al Congreso Nacional Indígena y al Frente de Pueblos en Defensa de la Tierra y el Agua, es decir, a la Extemporánea en su conjunto.

Para quien tuvo el privilegio de presenciar los partidos, las escenas que se regalaron en el encuentro fueron de lo más emotivas y extrañas para cualquier aficionado habitual al deporte de las patadas. Por principio en las tribunas no existió ese ambiente nacionalista que uno puede presenciar en los estadios cuando dos escuadras de distintos países compiten. No se escuchó lenguaje homofóbico. No hubo distinción entre visitantes y locales. Antes del inicio, poco después del mediodía, a través del sonido local, se advertía a los asistentes que la justa deportiva tenía como objetivo la convivencia solidaria, fraternal, política y militante; contraria a la comercialización del deporte, a la competencia y a los valores de consumo fomentados por el capitalismo.
